Financial Aid questions, please contact us

We hear you, and we understand how stressful financial aid and billing questions can be, especially when they affect your tuition and refund.

Every student's financial aid situation is different, shaped by enrollment schedule, loan type, and aid model, so we're not able to go over individual account details here in a public space.
We want to make this right for you.

Please send us a private message with your name and contact information, and our team will look into your account and walk you through your billing and aid status in detail.

Financial Aid

I just spoke with an advisor, and she said they're having issues processing paperwork because the new system isn't fully up and running. They don't even have an estimated timeline for when my paperwork will be processed. What's especially frustrating is that I turned my paperwork in back in May, but my advisor sat on it. Then the system change happened, and I was promised everything would be handled by June 15th. Since then, I haven't received any updates, and my emails have gone unanswered since June 8.

This whole situation has been incredibly frustrating. To be fair, my first class didn't start until the end of May, so I may still be earlier in the process than some of you. That said, I still don't even have a financial aid package.

What have your timelines looked like?

[Update] Important Announcement

Original Thread

We appreciate this valuable feedback and want to thank you for sharing this so honestly. We understand how frustrating and stressful this has been, especially when financial aid impacts so much more than just your student account, it can also impact your ability to focus on your educational journey.

We recognize the impact that our transition to a new student information system has had and are working diligently to resolve ongoing concerns.
Please know that our advisors do not have control over disbursements or any individual delays caused by the transition. We agree, however, that students should receive timely, accurate, and respectful responses. If you have concerns about your advisor's engagement please reach out to us directly. We take these concerns seriously.

We also want to provide additional context as to why this transition is taking time and why that time spent is important. Please know that we spent months planning on a seamless transition, but even with diligent planning and testing, there will be unforeseen disruptions, and we are working tirelessly to limit those disruptions. For example, as we transition to our new system, student information that was housed in multiple systems was carefully consolidated into a single student information system. That process has required and continues to require extensive validation and security efforts to ensure the information is complete and accurate before financial aid can be processed. This results in some activities becoming delayed.

At National University, our priority is making sure that our student's academic and financial records are transitioned accurately, securely, and in a manner that prevents additional issues caused by focusing on temporary fixes that will delay the process further. While this has affected timelines, it does not lessen the need for clear communication or accountability and we remain committed to the needs and concerns of our students.

Here is what we can share right now:

  • Financial aid processing is actively underway, and teams are working to restore predictable timelines and visibility
  • Disbursement timing may still vary, but updates will be communicated clearly as information becomes available
  • Advisors have the ability to escalate cases when timelines have passed or additional review is needed

We know that context doesn’t lessen the impact or eliminate the frustration and we do appreciate your patience through this process. The reported delays remain our top priority, and teams are actively working to restore normal timelines as quickly as possible.

We will continue to share updates as progress is made and our teams remain focused on restoring full functionality and processing financial aid as quickly and accurately as possible.
We appreciate you raising these concerns. Our focus is not only on completing our student information transition, but on improving the student experience.

Jesus - what a mess..

I’ve sent over six emails to my advisor, but I haven’t received a single reply.

I’ve tried calling them, but after being on hold for ten minutes, the call disconnects.

I received an email indicating that I should expect an email from the bank Mobile to update my banking information this week. However, I haven’t received any such email, and I also received an email asking me to upload some documents related to the financial aid application for next year’s award. Despite emailing the school, I haven’t received any further information.

Typically, my financial aid is disbursed a week before the 30-day deadline, but it hasn’t been disbursed yet.

There’s a financial disbursement hold on my student account, and I’m at a loss for what to do since no one is responding to my emails.

This school has been a source of frustration ever since I enrolled. The financial aid process takes over 30 days to process or even respond to our requests. Now, I’m stuck with this program because I’m grandfathered in the plus loan and switching institutions will make me ineligible for further aid.

MBA LOCATION

Hey everyone,

I’m like 9 classes or so from finishing my Bachelors majoring business administration. So I know I have some time but I’m a planner.

I’m going to be using my GI Bill for an MBA. So far even with the frustrations of the advisor team I enjoy going to school at National. The 4 week courses work well for my learning style, and icing on the cake they have hybrid classes so you can get the most out of your post 9/11.

What is everyone’s thoughts on the MBA program at national?

Financial Aid

I asked for an accurate disbursement schedule as the new portal reflects a schedule that reflects dates of which I am not enrolled. My advisor responded saying there won’t be an accurate schedule reflected. So are we just left in limbo? Also, my advisor never greets me in email, and is always condescending. I work in Higher Ed and am actually surprised by this tone.

Important announcement

Your financial aid, including any expected stipends, is still in place and being updated in our new systems. We understand that students are eager to access their financial aid information, and we are equally eager to make it available.

As part of our University's system transition, our teams are actively working to finalize and activate financial aid processes so students can access their funding information as soon as possible. This careful approach helps ensure that the information and services you rely on are accurate, secure, and fully functional.

We appreciate your patience during this process and remain committed to supporting you every step of the way. Our teams will continue to share updates as they become available.

If you have already contacted your advisor or student support team, there is no need to reach out again at this time.

If your situation is time-sensitive or creating immediate hardship, please contact your advisor and note that your concern is urgent.

Disbursement

Apparently, advisors can’t see when refunds are disbursed and do not know when. This is the response I just received: The university can only provide the disbursement schedule that is submitted to the Center for Origination and Disbursement. To my knowledge, we are unable to provide an accurate estimate of when the funds will be received by the university to students. I can only provide the 30-45 day window from the start of course for aid to arrive.

GRAD AT RISK

Hey everyone,

I’m trying to see if other grad students are getting wrong info from financial aid advisors right now.

My academic year started on May 18, 2026. In my portal, my package is fully accepted and broken down exactly like this:

  • DL Graduate Plus Loan: $38,083.00 (Accepted)
  • DL Unsubsidized Loan: $20,284.00 (Accepted)
  • Status: 10 - Legacy Packaging Information

My actual disbursement is stuck past July 1st because of the university's system migration backlog. My advisor just told me that because the system won't payout before July 1st, I am about to lose my graduate loans completely.

NU's official upgrade page explicitly says aid will be "maintained securely" and only faces "temporary delays." The system transition shouldn't erase an accepted loan.

  • Is anyone else tracking a Grad PLUS or Unsubsidized loan being told they'll lose it?
  • Are your advisors completely blind under this new system backlash?
  • Has anyone gotten a supervisor to manually force it through the federal COD system?

Financial Aid

Anyone else get an email to update your housing information or else financial aid won’t be awarded? Mind you, this was already done, and resubmitted yesterday, but I got an email this morning with an inactive link to the Financial Aid overview section. I’ve already experienced advising issues before the migration, and now it seems everything is in limbo and the only answer is “the system is still updating.”

Scheduling On-Hold

Today I logged on to my portal and noticed a course that was supposed to begin today wasn't showing up. I somehow wasn't enrolled...nor can I schedule it. Due to a glitch in the new system, advisors and all other staff are unable to schedule students into courses for an undetermined amount of time.

***No courses can be added/scheduled until further notice through National University, via multiple phone calls to the Academic and Financial advising department.***

They have not sent out any notice regarding this...so unless you were already scheduled into a particular course, your education will be on hold until they sort out their technical glitch.

+Update: Some people can now be enrolled, but it is not showing up in the portal or Navigate...so despite having supposedly been enrolled, we see no evidence of that and cannot access our course.

Dream About To Be Lost

We are seven days away from the biggest federal financial aid change in a half century. National guaranteed students who began graduate studies before June 1st that they would have their GradPlus loans disbursed before the June 30th deadline. Guaranteed. In writing.

What better time to screw up a systems migration?

The University can not disburse funds from the federal government due to this inept system migration. Students like me are about to lose their ability to be grandfathered into the current system. All because an absolutely incompetent administration decided to do this right before the once in a century change.

They could still save the situation. A manual disbursement. But they don't care. I may not get my doctorate but every penny I have is going to legal representation. Still time, National.
