Coursify is back, and it’s better
Hey everyone! A month ago, I officially released coursify! Since then, we’ve got a whole team of devs working hard on some new features that I’m excited to announce:
Plan courses: view all the upcoming offerings in solus and use it to generate possible schedules
Degree planner: plan out your entire degree and your plan, keep track of gpa etc
Check it out at: https://www.coursify.ca
Is it safe to walk around at midnight?
Hi! I am new to Kingston. I will be arriving there at around 3 or 4 am on a Wednesday and will walk near Princess Street to get to the destination. Just wanted to know whether it is safe to do so. Many thanks in advance!
Elective Recommandations?
Going into commerce so I need to pick any 2 electives what are some easy elective recommendations?
Upper year courses
Hi - I’m going into third year arts and science and looking at degree requirements (I’m doing 1 major and 2 minors). For my two minors, it says x number of units at the 200 level or above are required. It doesn’t specify any required third or fourth level courses. Does that mean in third and fourth year I can take a mix of whatever is of interest in these two subject areas? Even if they are at the 200 level?
Connecting with People at Queen's
Hey everyone,
I'm a summer research assistant at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. I had spent the last few weeks at Kingston and since it's the summer, have not been able to meet up with many people. Would love to connect to people currently studying at Queen's (both undergrad and post grad + I'm a rising senior at my home university) even if it's remote or over discord.
A bit about myself. I love talking about basically anything from Sports to entertainment, politics, pop culture, gaming, art, history, philosophy etc so if you want a yapping buddy (some convos may end up being deep) it would be my pleasure. Would be down to meet up irl too if you are spending the summer on campus. Sending lots of love and best wishes to hopefully my future friends.
I accepted my offer but haven’t heard back and it’s been a week
Has this happened to anyone else? I accepted my offer on June 25. I have yet to hear back from queens. My ouac application just says accepted and submitted?
Please help!!
What does this mean on my schedule? (The exclamation mark thing)

GPA Boosters
Hey everyone, what courses/electives are the greatest GPA boosters?
Should I take psyc 100 first year or second year
Hiii! I’m a first gen sci student and am interested in taking the biochem degree path. I know I am going to take a psyc course sometime because I’m interested in writing the mcat and want to have some knowledge other than self study .
However I’m in a bit of a dilemma cause idk if it’s better to take it this year or to just take it next year. Really sucks cause I’m interested in so many other courses and psyc covers both semesters but idk if it’s smarter to take it now or not.
How do I transfer my ap credits?
Im going into life sci this fall and have transfer credits for bio calc (only ab) and maybe physics (today Monday) How do I get queens to accept these?
also what do I miss out on by transferring the credits if possible
Why is my Life Science first year schedule already out when I thought I was able to choose July 13?
am i dumb
Between SOLUS's Course Catalog and the Academic Course Calendar, I can't tell what's actually being offered this year
I was pulling possible course options from the courseleaf 2026-27 course calendar, esp the ones listed as options for specific Teachables under the Education tab, but it says not everything in there is being offered every year. Half of the courses don't show up in SOLUS (like HIST 223... it sounds cool...) so I figured they're not being offered this year, but half the listings in the SOLUS search say 'class not scheduled' and 'last updated 2022'. Where can I just get/filter a definitive list of classes being offered in 2026-27?
Best electives for first year life sci?
idk what to take
I failed a class that isn’t offered this year, what should I do?
I failed a 3rd year class this past year and am now going into what I had hoped to be my 4th and final year. I was planning on retaking the course this year but it’s not on the timetable. Should I do a 5th year hoping it gets offered next year or just accept that the fail will stay on my transcript with no effort to retake it? The course is not specifically required for me to graduate, if I take another on the same list I will be able to complete my degree, however I’m worried that for a masters program, they’ll look at the fail very unfavourably especially if I never retake the course.
First year Eng soon
How much do I need to know from high school? I didn’t do that well in the sciences at all and my school is also not known well for its teaching quality, I got a 60 in physics and 70 in chem and 75 in calc, do I need to be perfect with the high school material or do they reach it in first year?
Does anyone know if there is course selection for Year 5 Con-Ed?
I’m heading into Year 5 of Con-Ed and I’m not sure whether we choose courses the same way as previous years, or if the schedule is assigned differently because it is the education year.
If there is course selection, does anyone know when it usually opens or where we are supposed to check?
AP credit transfer
Incoming first year: my plan was to take chem 112 and some sort of bio course (either 102 or 103) as my elective/option courses but I was wondering if it would make sense for me to use my AP scores to transfer the credits (I took both AP chem and AP bio and got a high enough score on both).
Are there any downsides to using AP transfer credits? Or should I just take the classes? Idk if it will affect future courses I wanna take like biochem or orgo and I also dk if it’s a bad look for med schools if I don’t take chem 112 and bio102/3. Any opinions? What should I do
what courses should i take gen sci first year?
im thinking abt majoring into psych but i wanted to keep my options open so im definitely taking psyc 100, biol 102 + 103, chem 112 and math 121. i was wondering what other courses i should take. should i take physics or not bother? are there any other classes i should be taking? the only other major i was potentially thinking was biochem or biology but i'm not sure if physics is required for it, i kinda just wanted to take some easy electives to ease my workload 🙃
