To be completely honest I was not planning on getting a betta this soon, tank’s been cycling for a month but I wanted to take things slow. I only went out to get a few amano shrimp for my hair algae but I saw him and he was too gorgeous not to get.

He looks like a koi dumbo plakat from what I can see, I’m very pleased because I was considering ordering something like him online for £30-£50 and that’s without shipping, but he popped up in my local pet shop for just £19. I got him because of the colour so I’m hoping with my luck and his likely koi gene he doesn’t decide to turn blue out of spite bahaha.

Now I’ll admit I feel a little guilty because although I’m at 0 ammonia and 10ppm nitrates, I do have 1ppm nitrite so the cycle may not yet be as efficient as it should be. Will probably do a water change soon but I don’t want to stress the guy out so I’ve just added some seachem prime for now. He seems pretty nervous as he was the only betta in the pet shop that was glass surfing quite badly and so far he’s continuing to do so with occasional breaks to poke at plants or stare at the amanos. I tried turning off the lights for a few hours but he didn’t stop so I doubt it’s him seeing his reflection. Is there anything else I could do to help him calm down?

Any other tips would also be appreciated. Could he do with more hiding spots while the plants fill in? A better resting spot? (Not sure if it’s necessary since his tail isn’t too heavy). Also he had a bunch of uneaten food on the surface of his pet shop tank so it doesn’t look like he’s eating. I tried giving him a dried bloodworm but he spat it out. Should I be worrying about the food situation or will he be alright for a few days while he settles? Thanks 👍

This is my snail Gilgamesh. I can’t believe I was worried about feeding this guy. I got him for free because the shell erosion made him too unsightly to sell, but my tank doesn’t have much algae so I was a bit concerned.

So much for nerite snails being fussy and only eating algae/biofilm. This lad is a vegetable DEMON.

Do you see that? He is perfectly vertical! It’s like he’s standing on the tip of his shell. How is bro doing that? Is he a wizard?

I found these rocks at the beach. Most of them seem to be slate of some kind but some seem more like brick (I think?). I’m worried about them potentially being porous and still containing seawater. I scrubbed and boiled them all to remove bacteria (right before finding out it is in fact not advisable to boil rocks) but I’m concerned they may still be harboring salt, or may leech salt among other things into my freshwater tank.

Could anyone ID these and let me know which may or may not be safe? If you need better picture of any let me know.

My lithops are all very healthy and alive

Stalk of plant has become limp, feels flimsy and almost hollow. Leaves were falling off for a month or two before this but I didn’t realise the stem was affected. Unsure how recent this is but now leaves are falling more frequently .

I assume the plant can’t be saved but does anyone know the cause? I’ve had mealybugs going around so that might be it. Otherwise it could be the SMC spray I put on it to try and kill off the mealybugs. That might have interfered with the natural coating on the plant. I tried washing it off a while ago but it’s super sticky. I also used bonide granules, but I don’t think that would’ve caused this.

They were all bright red before, and the ones in the second image look all gross and etiolated. Not sure if this happened because of too much light or not enough, but I couldn’t have my growlights on while I was away so I put them on a windowsill and this happened.

I’m really sorry I couldn’t do anything because I’m a tourist and my family was dragging me away calling it a dirty rat and wouldn’t let me touch it. If anyone is anywhere nearby please try to find it. Sorry I couldn’t get better pics it’s next to pret e manger.

It’s a baby/fledgling and the two birds in picture were attacking it. Both eyes were swollen and seeping pus.

Location is France. I’ve seen these before in another European country but didn’t get a photo and didn’t think I would ever see them again. They look gorgeous, love the colour and abdomen shape. The red pops a lot more in person.

Muted for harassment apparently. This pisses me off so much because the more short mutes I get the more likely I am to get a long one, and they’re never actually for saying anything bad.

I recently got muted for a MONTH for jokingly calling me and my friend homosexuals. DURING PRIDE MONTH MIGHT I ADD. TGC can you please quit it with these useless mutes and actually target actual E daters and weirdos? Absolutely ridiculous.

Flew past me holding a petal and is now rather enthusiastically cramming it into the wall of my house.

It’s making its mission to look as hideous as possible it hates me so much

I’ve been playing this game for a few days now, I usually pick up new games super easily but I am SO confused about this one. I think I’m a dude that got resurrected to protect some city? I keep talking to NPCs that act like they already know me and they keep saying stuff that makes no sense, random destiny buzzwords like ‘the nine’ crammed into explanations that I really don’t understand the meaning of.

Destiny clearly has so much lore yet barely gives any explanation of anything, it assumes I’ll already know everything. The UI is so complicated I feel like I’ll have a seizure whenever I try to use it but I’m veeeery slowly getting how some of it works. If this game is intentionally confusing to make me feel like a guy who just got resurrected into a world he knows nothing about then I guess it succeeded?

I actually wanted to try this game a few years back but its age intimidated me. There’s so many experienced players who make the game seem awesome and social, but I’ve felt alone and confused so far. Am I stuck in the loser baby area or something? Probably. I see other players but we don’t interact. I’ll just never be on the level of players who’ve been here for over a decade, I’ll never know the game like they do it can simply never be as special to me, so maybe there isn’t any point in playing?

Regarding the image I THINK I recognise this dude from a trailer or something. Am I going to find out who he is later on? I cannot reiterate how clueless I am when it comes to destiny. I tried watching lore videos but still felt confused. I heard that there aren’t seasons anymore, does that mean the game isn’t worth playing? Just thought I’d finally give it a go but it’s making me feel stupid so far.

If anyone has any tips on being less of a noob I’d appreciate it.

Just got these, they look pretty plump so I assume they aren’t thirsty (the dampness on top is just SMC spray, I have a bit of a spidermite problem) I assume I just wait until they go flat and wrinkly before giving them a soak?

I do have other lithops but I always watered them pretty randomly and they’re all at different stages of being split, trying to split, successfully splitting but the outer leaves being plump and just not drying up, stuff like that all in the same pot and I think they’re a bit confused lol.

I enter the event area today and to my pure joy I notice a black plume of dye erupt from the geyser. Oh my god they added black hair dye! I’ve been wanting that for so long! And then, oh wait. Of course, it’s barely even noticeable. What’s the point of this? It’s not just black it’s the other colors too, why are they always so boring and muted? It’s days of color! Let us be colorful for Pete’s sake. Not to mention it seems the hair color from the geyser is client sided? Where’s the fun in that?

I can somewhat understand the goal of preserving the game’s ’aesthetic’ but this is just an event! Let us have fun! And besides, sky has so many outfits and accessories that really don’t fit the game’s artstyle (e.g realistic clothing that humans irl would wear like suits and tshirts as opposed to game stylised clothing) that I feel like that ship has already sailed. I mean part of the whole creative direction behind skykids is that they wear masks, and there are hundreds to choose from, yet an overwhelming number of people choose not to wear a mask at all.

I don’t understand all this attempted restriction on what people wear. And if it were up to me? Sky kids would be able to dye every part of every outfit, and even their hair, to any color they please. So what if people look a bit silly? It’s a game where everyone dresses like a kid playing dress up, people already look silly! I see no issue with making more room for creativity.

And these outfits they keep releasing where you can dye like one minuscule part of it need to stop. They made the choice to add a dye system to their game yet seem horribly averse to letting us use it. Like dude, if I can’t dye my pants completely black, I will just wear my black pants and never buy any new ones. If anything you are LOSING money here because why would I spend money on an IAP that is permanently half beige?

I didn’t actually intend for this to become a rant and I’m very tired so I hope I didn’t say anything dumb. I just yearn for the day I can have outfit be the colors I want it to be 😔😔😔

How do I let it know this is inappropriate? It’s doing this in broad daylight…

I currently have some Drosera Slackii in a long black square pot (I’m aware they look incredibly chopped + pretty sure a couple drosera rotundifolia have snuck in there💀) but I feel it looks too unsightly in that pot. I wanted to put them in a shorter (but slightly wider) ceramic pot, but I know they have rather long roots so what should I do about those? Would they fare okay simply growing to the shape of the pot or do they NEED to grow deeper?

And is it alright to put them straight in the pot without drainage or do I need an inner pot for them?

I also heard you can propagate them using roots. Would that just entail cutting the ends off some of the roots and sticking them in the peat? Thanks.
