Vacation homes

I know the TA run subs talk a lot about hotels and resorts. I’m interested in getting some perspectives on vacation homes or second properties that people have enjoyed, and what made them enjoyable. I know the basic rule of thumb that if it’s too far, it’s not easy to enjoy!

Some ideas below:

  1. spacious home in the country when you live in the city

  2. city pad if you live in the suburbs (think nyc suburbs / nyc)

  3. ski homes - are there towns on either coast that you have found to be good value? I look a lot at VT. Skiing isn’t my life but as my kids get older, I wonder if I want it to be theirs

  4. beach homes? Does anyone love theirs?

  5. 3-season type places (on a lake AND near slopes type places)

What if manic phase is genuinely productive

I haven’t been diagnosed but tbh pretty sure I have it. For weeks I’ve only slept 3-4 hrs a night. I don’t eat much either. The rest of the time I feel productive and on top of things. Fit into old clothes, do hobbies). I finally bought a nightstand, did laundry, read a book this week. Either I will crash in which case I’m glad to have gotten some productive time! Or I never will which is cool too bc this is great. I come across as really normal irl and struggle to share the really bad stuff I do w my therapist. I know I should but I can’t. So she thinks I’m doing well

But ya why try to fix

Struggling with prioritizing mom’s personal goals and family building goals

I am curious how those of you, especially those with bigger families, navigated this. I find it so easy as a mom to put my goals to the side.

Expectations vs reality: help

Hey! I know a lot of people start having kids and then realize they need more help (or different kinds of help) than they expect. Our parents are a flight away but come often to help, and we have 2 kids right now (baby and toddler).

We had always planned for 4 kids.

However, over the course of having these two kids, I think we have realized that utilizing help can be more complex irl vs in our imagination. For example, unfortunately our kids’ bedtime routines have been challenging in practice for the grandparents to do. Of course, this may be easier in 1-3 years, but for the baby/toddler stage, it’s been hard.

Furthermore, I’ve started to realize his parents REALLY care about coming to help my husband when he is solo parenting (which happened once for a weekend trip), but do not have interest or comfort in doing it for me. Which is fine, but it does make me recontextualize how much help they are, on a personal level. I’m a SAHM and it definitely makes me think that we should wait to have our next kid

We have frozen embryos so time pressure is less for us. Definitely curious on thoughts and your own experiences.

The place where our Frame is mounted doesn’t always get full sunlight. The screen always glows

Any tips for settings? I fixed it once but it seems to keep resetting. I want it DARK all the time and don’t mind if it’s dark at night either

Separately from the settings q, would an external lamp spotlight help?

My 13 pro max suddenly glitched and now the camera thinks it’s a different phone. It displays the newer zoom options (doesn’t work) and won’t load several types of video recording like cinematic. Portrait mode doesn’t work either. Help?

extra details: When it first happened it said I had a non-Apple camera, but that’s definitely not the case and the problem appeared mid-recording. After restarting, that went away but the camera is still broken
