Do unofficial servers update when the officials do?
I know there was a big update recently, and I am curious if those updates (like graphics, night vision, ai spawn) are automatically applied to unofficials, like dinoden/petits/etc - or if the unofficial owners have to do that separately?
Recent addition to the Darkness - hit level 10ish and I JUST feel like I understand whats going on, but I have some questions that I havent found definitive answers for yet....
What do I do with all these 25g stacks? I have a whole bunch, and one 500 gold pouch... I think I read somewhere that there is a quest for them to stack? Right now, they are taking up inventory space and I really dont have much to buy yet. What quest or thing am I missing?
Whats the trick to the quests? I see that items get the green icon in the corner, but it doesn't tell me which quest its for. I recently learned you can give them some of the items, which is nice, then just find the rest later. Are there hints or a toolbar that helps me know HOW to find these? or am I missing a reading somewhere?
Melee vs Caster? I know this is an opinion, but mechanically which one am I going to NOT DIE as. Tried melee, had trouble 'dark soulsing' the combat so im working on that. got to level 7 and i dont like being so close to things - switched to Warlock (my usual go to in any game) and im figuring out the casting. REly on curse of pain and kiting. I would like to do the more powerful summon but i dont see where I can increase my 'spell' bar - the thing that says 10 and every spell you use takes up slots till youre full - dont know how to articulate this mechanic, but i also dont know how to increase it.
PVP and PVE? Have only PVE'd as i feel like a bubble in a needle factory, but i see some posts about both and I was curious was the game community has gravitated towards as a whole, or if there are benefits to PVP outside of feeling good about beating people. Is there a 'battleground' or something where you dont lose your gear? or is all pvp open world?
Dying/Losing Everything - Is that just daily life?: I get it but damn, its sad. Obviously, as I am asking questions, I have died a few times - at first just learning how things work then by over-extending as a caster and forgetting I have that phase ability... So my question is, I guess, if I die with stuff I didnt wanna lose, am I just hoping the goblin has it? (I think thats the merchant, I know one of them has dungeon stuff, but I didnt know if it was stuff from you or stuff you negelcted to pick up and its just like 'heres a second chance')
Also - Anything else someone things is relevant or helpful would be super appreciated.
Why the Gatekeeping? Is that the culture you want around the sport?
I have seen a lot of people ask questions, some very technical and some very simple, and the responses are always kind of mixed. Most of them are positive and informative but, as in many things, there are some that are just toxic and aggressive.
Why would the thought 'well if you dont know about X they youre not a real Y' ever join the conversation?
Why do we want to put up walls because someone may have had a different experience than you?
If someone doesnt learn or do the same things you do in the hobby/sport then they arent worthy?
Its kinda pathetic tbh and sad to see people drive a wedge between someone who wants to learn and something they want to learn about. Its just makes me feel like those people seek validation and the only way they get it is by pushing other down.
Edit: Because multiple people have commented about this so I thought I would include more detail.
The topic in question was my mistaking someone saying "bare shooting" and I took that as shooting off the shelf, as I wasnt familiar with the use of flightless arrows, or them being referred to in that way.
In this case I gave incorrect information because I misunderstood the question, and I even started out with essentially 'I think you are talking about X and if so...." but I was wrong and they were talking about something else.
The person who responded to me sounded like that kid that tries to make fun of you for not knowing all the pokemon sounds by heart. "How can you say you like X if you dont even know Y"
I was trying to join the discord to learn how report a trouble spot on VelnonaMAP and I got this message. Anyone recognize?
