I stopped using homekit and started manually turning on my little lights because it was slow and annoying to use my phone/siri to turn things on and off. They were also a bit unreliable, and siri or lights would randomly turn on.

I have a homepod mini and some smart wifi bulbs, smart power strip.

I do think the colored lights and led strips are looking a little dated too so if it’s better I would upgrade.

Has it improved since then? what’s cool now? should I update the devices or is the software much better? it looks basically the same

the only other tech/SWE I know are people’s boyfriends lol

I’m a swe in mid 20s, want to focus both socially making more friends in my field, see what other people are up to, and also focus more on my career. a lot of said straight bfs are always meeting cool tech leaders, going to fancy tech parties, all their friends are techies. The thought of going in cold to an AI meetup with 80% guys sounds horrible lol, but I feel like i’m missing out on social and career opportunities by not participating in the community

I am concerned about any others in future (coming IPOs + any future bs new rules that may follow now that we have a precedent) even after space x. It affects not only stability but also integrity of my formerly trusted nasdaq tracker

I got a notification that someone used my password to log in from an unknown device and location. I don’t even use this password other places so not sure how this is possible. I’m sure it wasn’t me

They locked my account, I unlocked it and found out they had disabled 2FA “to protect my security” (wtf)

Marvel, sci fi, etc. These may have some sort of love life but it’s not the main focus. IMO this makes it easier for them to not center women- the media you consume affects your thoughts, especially in an age of high screen time.

That being said, IDGAF about sci fi or finance or marvel or most traditional male interests. There’s gotta be some sort of replacement that isn’t about men, male interests, or aesthetics.

So what is it? How do we prioritize and popularize more media that doesn’t center men? In 2026 why is so much of the popular shows etc targeted towards women still revolving around (usually hetero) dating?
