People keep saying kijiji is dead, marketpalce is better, but...

Listings on facebook marketplace definitely get more traffic especially for cheaper items, but it is by no means a better alternative to kijiji. The same people who say "Kijiji is dead, marketplace is better" never really mention the downsides of marketplace.

Marketplace will reject listings you worked hard to create for no clear reason, and it's hard to know what will trigger a rejection. One thing is for sure if you search for an item and get zero results on marketplace, chances are the item is banned, so nobody has been able to list it. It doesn't just end with rejected listings either. You can get shadowbanned or banned entirely for it. There's even a chance you'll get instantly banned just for creating a new account. On top of that, they don't keep listings visible for long. They bury older listings deep.

I haven't experienced any of these issues with kijiji, and I hope it stays like that. Dealing with facebook’s broken ai is just exhausting. Kijiji might have less overall traffic, but at least your listings actually stay up.

How do you set prices for your listings?

I'm curious about how most people price their items in general. Let's say, you have an item you want to sell, and after checking similar items on kijiji and marketplace, you figure $100 is a good, cheap price you want to stick to. Would you list it as "$100 firm" or post it for "$120" to leave room for negotiation? Also, which pricing strategy do you think is more common? Thanks in advance.

Pioneer multi cd player intermittently fails to load discs. Looking for a permanent fix

First off, the attached video is not mine, but I have the exact same player and experience this exact problem. Sometimes it just refuses to load the cds.

The title of the video claims he fixed it, but all he really did was give it a little nudge. That problem is going to come back sooner or later. For me, the issue sometimes goes away on its own, either by turning the player off and on again, or by switching to different disc slots several times.

I'm not expert, but it looks like some of the internal gears are getting stuck and causing the failure. Does anyone know what the exact root cause is and how to properly fix it? Thanks in advance.

Will visa account updater (td credit card) work on netflix after a card replacement?

Long story short, I voluntarily replaced my TD visa credit card because of a suspicion of fraud - nothing happened, and I'm unable to update credit card number on netflix since I signed up with vpn long time ago. From I've found so far, there's a Visa Account Updater program, and it will let Netflix charge the monthly payment as long as I don't cancel the subscription which is exactly what I want. My question is, has anyone in a similar situation had their netflix payment suddenly declined even though you didn't cancel the subscription? Thanks in advance.

Why haven’t pirates cracked HP printers yet?

First of all, I’m not asking anyone to crack HP printers. I’m just genuinely curious why this situation seems so different.

I have zero knowledge of hacking or cracking, but after seeing this post on this sub about HP forcing people to subscribe just to print (They want us to subscribe now to print, what a fkin joke), I started wondering why haven’t hackers cracked this yet? Almost every major software and game eventually gets cracked.

Is cracking hp printers significantly more difficult? Is it basically impossible? Or is there some moral dilemma in the scene?

It’s also interesting that I rarely see people begging hackers to crack hp printers like they do with other things “Dear xxx, please crack this, my life is yours”. What makes this case different?

Do you add carrot bits to kibbles? If so, how much?

I feed my 7 year old mini dachshund two quarter cups of kibble a day, one in the morning and another one in the evening as advised. Someone at a dog park suggested that giving my dog carrot bits with her kibble would add beneficial fiber to her diet. I’d like to try it, but I'm not sure how much I should give. If anyone here does the same, please let me know the right amount for a mini dachshund. Thanks in advance.

Unable to update credit card info on netflix subscribed via vpn

I subscribed to netflix a long time ago using vpn from a south american country. I've been using it without vpn ever since. My old credit card expired, so I got a new one. However, when I try to update the payment information, it won't let me. Do I need to use vpn again to update my credit card details? I don’t think I have access to the same VPN service anymore. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Is this vintage polo shirt fake?

This shirt has been sitting in my drawer for over 10 years - maybe 15. I looked online but I can’t tell if it’s real or fake since this is old one. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

Anyone on an older $29 LTE plan getting hit with the price increase?

I'm seeing all these posts reporting price increases, but it seems like they are all for newer deals people received recently. Mine is a $29 LTE plan that I got a couple of years ago. Then suddenly they upgraded me to 5G 2 or 3 months ago which I never complained about at the time, but now I am complaining because it's actually slower than LTE was. I’m still thinking they will eventually increase my price too since they "Upgraded" the service. It's just a matter of when, and I'm not holding my breath. Has anyone with the same or a similar older plan seen a price hike yet? Thanks in advance.

PSA: A legitimate rogers agent asked for my full credit card info

Long story short, I recently ported my phone number out of rogers and received my final bill, which showed a negative balance. So I called rogers, and asked the agent how I would receive my money back.

At the end of a very long process, the agent asked me to provide the details of the credit card I originally used to pay my bills. I gave him the card number. Then, he asked for the expiry date, and then he asked for the security code too. Immediate red flags started flashing in my mind. I asked him, "Why do you need the security code?" He said it was just part of the standard process, so like an idiot, I gave it to him. Mind you, I haven't had to call rogers in almost two years, let alone ask them for a refund, but I was starting to get nervous.

Then came the double red flag. After taking all my info, he suddenly said he couldn't process the refund himself and had to transfer me to the credit department. Why didn't he just transfer me there in the first place? I did ask him, but he said something like it's supposed to work. My heart was absolutely pumping. Right before he put me on hold to transfer me, I practically begged him, "Please do not use my credit card."

A lady from the credit department answered the line. The very first thing I asked her was, "Is it normal that the guy before you just asked for my entire credit card information, including the security code?" She immediately said no, and added that no rogers agent should ever ask for a customer's full credit card information. She was very helpful, processed my refund instantly without needing any card information (since my billing profile was already on file), and strongly advised me to cancel my credit card immediately.

As soon as I got off the phone with her, I used my banking app to lock the card, called my credit card company, confirmed there were no pending charges, and cancelled the card, then requested a new one. Boy, what a massive hassle.

The Aftermath

Two things have happened since this went down,

  1. Thankfully, there are still no suspicious pending transactions on the old account.
  2. However, I have suddenly started getting spam calls for 3 days in a row every morning from a collection agency called "Partners in Credit Inc" from these specific numbers: 1-888-730-6333 and 1-905-886-0555. I have a very strong suspicion this is directly related to that first rogers agent. I have never received calls from this company before, and a quick internet search shows a lot of people reviewing this company as a scam center. It feels like that agent immediately sold or passed my info since well, I was gullible enough to give my credit card information up. lol

*A lot of people online flag Partners in Credit Inc as a scam center because they ruthlessly spam people with texts and calls for debts they don't even owe (like demanding money for credit cards the person doesn't even have). While they are a technically "legit" Canadian collection agency, the timing of these sudden calls right after my encounter with that rogue agent is incredibly fishy.

The Lesson

Last but not least, and actually the most important takeaway here, Do not give out your full credit card details or CVV to anyone, even if you called a legitimate company's official number. Rogue employees exist, and they will absolutely take advantage of you. Lesson learned the hard way. Stay safe out there!

How do you block or deal with Air Duct Cleaning spam calls (spoofed numbers) on your voip phone / service?

Ever since I ported my number to voip.ms, I've started getting these "air duct cleaning service" spam calls. I used to get them years ago, but they had completely stopped until I switched to voip recently - I can't believe they've been operating the same scam for this long.

The problem is that they keep calling back using different phone numbers. I've learned that this is called "Spoofing" and the numbers they are using actually belong to real people. From googling and searching the forums, there doesn't seem to be a simple option or setting to fix it.

Some people say that harassing the callers eventually gets you off their list, but I definitely don't have the time or energy for that. lol How do you guys deal with these spoofed spam calls on your voip phones?

What happens when rogers owes you money on your bill?

Long story short, I moved my phone number out last month, and just received a bill showing -$6. What can I do in this situation? Do I just process the usual online payment from their website with my credit card so that they will credit -$6 to it like at a grocery store? It sounds pretty silly though. lol What other options do I have? Thanks in advance.

Any recommended settings for Grandstream HT812 with Voip.ms?

Got a used grandstream HT812 and updated it to the latest firmware. Everything looks fine so far, and I'm going to set it up with voip.ms soon. Do you guys have any recommended settings for this specific setup?

This isn't my first time using a voip service with an ata adapter. My first one was a linksys PAP2T (Not unbranded one). The sound quality wasn't great, and then it died on me (maybe it was a defective unit).

With this new grandstream setup, these are the main things I'd like to improve/configure (If possible):

- Enhance sound quality (which audio codecs are best for voip.ms?)

- Block spam/phantom calls (the phone rings immediately when connected to the internet, even without a service configured yet)

- Block outgoing 911 calls entirely (This is my lowest priority, but it would be nice to have)

Any advice on specific web GUI settings or dial plans would be greatly appreciated.

Looking for older firmware files for Grandstream HT812 (V1.6A) to bridge upgrade gap

I was going to upgrade to the latest version 1.0.65.1, but it seems like the firmware version 1.0.10.6 on mine is too old to make that jump. I found the version 1.0.23.5 on softpedia and successfully upgraded to it, but I haven't been able to find the next versions online so far.

1.0.31.1

1.0.35.4

1.0.39.4 - google says this is most critical to upgrade to 1.0.65.1

1.0.43.11

If anyone could help me find these files, I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Do I need to contact Rogers to port out a home phone number (internet phone)?

I know you don't have to contact the carrier to port out a cell phone number. I'm just wondering if it's any different for a home phone number that's tied to an internet service?

How do I contact Rogers customer service? It seems impossible.

First, I tried the chat service, but I can't get past the automated messages. I also tried calling 1-888-764-3771 and went through the whole process, but at the end it just hangs up after saying, "This service is no longer available." Is it even possible to talk to someone or get a hold of customer service?

How bad is 88 Octane (15% ethanol) for a 2014 Elantra?

My dad has 2014 elantra sedan that had the engine replaced under the recall. He’s been using 88 octane E15 as a cheaper alternative lately. The car has been running fine, but I checked the manual today and it recommends 87 octane or lower. This has me worried, especially because of the lifetime warranty on the engine. Should I tell him to stop using it immediately?
