Just bought a 2007 Avalon, how does my oil line look? Does this need to be replaced?
I just read about the rubber oil line, apparently they put out a newer version of the oil line that wasn't as bad. Is this the newer version? How quickly should I worry about replacing this with the all metal line?
It's at 90K miles and has had 4 owners.
Yesss I got my 60% ER disc 6 already!!! I don't even care that the sub stats suck lol
First time Stormlight reader. My thoughts on Edgedancer
Please no spoilers for Oathbringer or anything after. I just finished Words Of Radiance and blew through the Edgedancer audiobook in a couple days at work.
Overall I was disappointed with Edgedancer; although the nuggets of world building and plot we got felt so important I still felt like it was worth my time. And I actually really like Lift. If this book wasn't from her pov it would've been much worse.
It just felt like something was missing and nothing was happening for the first half of the book until Lift finds Darkness. Lift and her Spren carry the book, both because of their interactions and the fact that we know she will become a Radiant and a mainstay character eventually. So it's interesting seeing them on screen for that alone. The cultivation Spren and Edgedancers also are both extremely interesting so it's nice that they're one of the early Orders we're getting a good look at.
Speaking of carrying the book, the entire reason this book feels like it's not a waste of your time is when Szeth, Darkness and the Sleepless guy show up in the last half of the book. I am just dying to know what's up with Szeth's new powers and what he's learning from who we eventually find out is the Herald of Justice. Loved that reveal, by the way.
The Sleepless are interesting as hell. Loved him using the terms for the characters we've seen on the back of the books like the Surgeon and Thief. Wonder if that means the back of the books are written from the Sleepless' POV and they'll end up being really important? Don't spoil anything involving this, please!
The ending was great and made up for the first half of the book being lackluster. To be clear, I am totally okay with a slow burn and slow pacing. Mistborn well of ascension is my favorite of era 1 because of the slow burn. But Edgedancer feels like it just meanders with literally no conflict or tension and nothing happening until Lift finds Darkness/Nale. It's below my expectations for a Sanderson novel and overall left me disappointed.
While the book is frankly mediocre it is still an essential read if you're really enjoying Stormlight and you're invested in the characters and the world. It makes up for the book being bland for awhile and then some. I'd rate it 2.5/5
Holy shit. What an incredible ride. Thoughts in post body. On to Edgedancer (and a little break from Stormlight)!
My general takeaway - I am blown away by how the stakes established in book 1 were escalated. WoR almost feels like 2 books in one: not because of any pacing issues or anything, but because of how much the characters and plot progressed. Ending with Adolin killing Sadeas was just such an incredible way to close out the book. I unfortunately already had Jasnah returning spoiled for me, thankfully I still loved this book anyway. Best Sanderlanche I've read since Mistborn hero of ages.

"Honor is dead, but I'll see what I can do." is probably the best one liner in fantasy. I got tears in my eyes from how excited I was when I listened to that in the audiobook at work, it was that good.

Don't say anything, but I don't think the parshendi are the voidbringers. They're a literal red herring. I think this is the one thing Jasnah was wrong about. Again, don't say anything about this if you comment.

"Dalinar did not fight for his life. His life hadn't been his for years. He fought for Gavilar." this made me legit weep. Literal crying. Most I've cried from a Sanderson novel since the ending of mistborn era 1.

And the scenes of Kaladin at the end. Just beyond amazing. 2 books of buildup in an explosive satisfying payoff. God damn I love kaladin and syl.

Thanks for reading guys. I loved this book and can't wait to keep going. I will read edgedancer then take a break to read some other stuff before getting to Oathbringer.
Airsick lowlanders who visit my apartment never appreciate this shelf so I figured I'd post it here.
Title. I'm arms lvl 12. If I pull more than one mob I usually just die. It's quite frustrating. I'm used to WOTLK private servers where I can just mash Revenge and melt entire packs of mobs
