Protecting Typhon Grom front shock mounts

I'm trying to figure out if it's worth it to get a brace and/or bumper to protect the shock towers on my son's car. He broke one in the first 15 minutes of using it. As you can see in the pic, I tried to epoxy it back together, and reinforce the other side, but that didn't last long either. Currently waiting for a better set of hex bits to show up in order to finish the chassis swap, so I figure now is a good time to install some protection. Thanks in advance!

Original Road Rash on 3DO burned!

Long time reader, first time poster. Been working on this one for a while. So much of this one feel luck based, and the coastal tracks can die in a fire, but overall I really enjoyed beating this game from my childhood

Japanese 3DO FZ-1 overheating saga

The full story is in oldest to newest chronological order below, but the tldr is that my Japanese 3DO has issues after 15 minutes or so regardless of the game (I initially thought it was limited to Road Rash, but that isn't the case). I replaced the 2 common problem caps (C35 & C36), I removed the factory power supply and did a USB-C swap, and I installed a 20V fan in the factory location (Japanese units didn't come with fans). I've even tried removing RF shielding and running with the top removed, but nothing seemed to help.

Then, for fun, I pointed a pedestal fan right at it with the top removed, and wouldn't you know it I can play for hours on end now. I let it overheat again, and used my laser temp gun to read temps of every component on the main board and everything I could get line of sight to in the CD drive, but the hottest thing I found was only 120* F.

At this point I'm at a loss. Is it worth it to try replacing the rest of the caps? Find a replacement disc drive?

Today's haul

First time going to a video game swap meet. Pleasantly surprised with my haul! I got ~$5 off of the posted price on all of them. Perfect Dark was $20, and Link Between Worlds was $35

Need a refresher

I bought my original Odin shortly after they were released, and I set it up with Retroarch and Daijisho. It worked well at the time. I haven't used it at all since though, so my memory on how everything is setup is very rusty.

I believe I have all of the cores loaded that I want (nothing even as new as a PS1). I have the platforms I want loaded in Daijisho, and it appears as if each platform is connected to the proper core (as seen on the bar on the bottom of the screen. When trying to load a game, it will always boots the last game played instead of the game that I selected. However, when I select a game in Retroarch it loads properly. I've reinstalled Daijisho, but that didn't fix the issue.

What am I doing wrong?

FZ1 needs caps?

Are these leaking or otherwise in need of replacement?

Japanese FZ1 in the US overheating (?) after 10 minutes or so

I had previously posted about what I thought was an issue with my Road Rash, but after I bought a 2nd copy, and played around with some other games, I'm pretty sure the console itself is having the issue.

I bought a cap kit for it, but I'm not great at soldering and after reading how hard it is to do, I'm hesitant. I haven't looked at the boards to see if the caps are leaking.

I'm wondering if I should start with a power supply as it is a Japanese console running on US power. Does that sounds like the best plan, or should I look into capping it?

Fake, right?

The front sticker looks too bright and those screws on the back look suspicious, but the Nintendo logo on the back looks good to me (not an expect)

For context, my set is a 27" Toshiba CRT. To that I have hooked up an NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, Genesis/CD/32X, Saturn, Dreamcast, 3DO, original Xbox, PS1, and PS2. I'm not even sure which, if not all, of those have gun games I'd want to get but I'm pretty sure the majority do. My question is does anyone make a light gun that works on more than one of those? Or is there an adapter that allows the use of a gun across platforms? Just trying to avoid having to buy a bunch of different ones if possible, but I realize that probably is the answer. TIA!

Not sure if that's just the way they are, or if they're just weak on ours, but you can barely tell that they are on. Can other owners chime in if theirs are the same? TIA!
