Rumble 40 users

I play in an indie/lofi folk band, and I run my bass through a rumble 40 that I prop up on a chair. It’s been fine for coffee shops and intimate shows but I am nervous for some of the bigger venue shows I have coming up. The issue is that I can’t afford a better amp as I am a broke student. Do you think the di at the back is sufficient or I should try to leach off other bands? We don’t usually play with a drummer but are thinking about getting one for the live band.

Main bassist

I have recently got into animal collective and as a bassist I am always curious as to who is playing bass on the records I listen to. Who is the main bassist in the band?

Ernie ball straps

If you use an Earnie ball strap on your bass, what way do you like to have it, logo on the horn it at the bottom of the bass? If this makes sense. I took mine off to do some work on my bass and went to put it on and realized I was not sure which I liked more.

Stefan Lessard licks

I have gotten really into Stefan Lessard from the Dave Mathew’s band and I am wondering if anyone who is also a fan of his playing can point me in the direction of his craziest lick, live or on record. When I find a new bassist I am studying I like selecting something super complex to work through. This might be a niche request but if you can help me out, let me know!

Songs with bass solos

I have gotten really into dmb and I am wondering if there are any studio tracks that have a bass solo in them? Stefan is an insane player and I am really wanting to learn some solos by him!

Achieving this tone (bass)

I know this is a guitar sub but I was wondering if anyone can help me out, a lot of the people are r/bass are a touch to pretentious to give me a straight answer. I play a fender jazz bass with flats and this I am running it through a fender amp with the eq controls (gain, bass, lo mid, hi mid, treble) I kind of suck with tones so if anyone could help me dial in this tone please let me know.

How can I capture this on my rumble 40

This might be a really niche question, but I love the way my tone sounds with these settings on my mustang micro headphone amp, would there be a way to dial this tone in on my fender rumble amp or is it completely different? If anyone has a mustang micro headphone amp and knows how to do this, please let me know!

Tina Weymouth style tone

I have been playing bass almost a decade but I have always sucked at dialling in tones, I play a fretless jazz with flats and can’t figure out how to be able to dial in a tone that is not super tubby? I am trying to make it sound kind of like Tina Weymouth so if anyone has any eq advice or anything please help me out. This is my amp

Any bassists out there, I need help getting a certain tone

I am a huge fan of Doug Ferguson from the earlier camel records, any advice on getting a tone similar to his, better yet his exact tone? I play a fretless jazz bass with flats, though a fender rumble amp.

Best books a musician should read

I play bass in a lo-fi folk band right now, but my background is in jazz and prog music, now that I am going down to the basics I am realizing my knowledge on how this all actually works is lacking. Are their any books you would recommend I read on harmony or the deeper workings of music? Not an exercise book, something more like a traditional textbook that would help me grow my knowledge?

PA system for indie band

I play in a lo-fi folk band and we have a bunch of house shows coming up but we need to figure out some sort of pa system or something to amplify our guitarist who plays acoustic as well as our singer. Any ideas that won’t break the bank?

I am in a lo-fi folk band and we have some backyard and house shows coming up in a few months, the issue is we have no real way of amplifying our singer or guitarist (they play an acoustic). Does anyone have any cheap recommendations? Also check out our band! We are called aphrodesia and have a single out on all platforms.

I am a huge phish phan and am wanting to incorporate more of Mikes playing style into mine but I am not sure where to start. Anyone who has tried to achieve this, do you have any advice?

It might just be the scene I am in, but every time I see a local band, the bassist is always playing a short scale, mostly a fender mustangs is there a short scale trend going on right now?
