Unpopular Opinion

Probably going to take a lot of heat here but I’m going to say it. The GMA S1 is a stupid money grab. Don’t get me wrong I do think it’s beautiful. I also like and understand the T50. It’s meant to be the spiritual successor the F1, and to me that makes sense. The S1 is just a hypercar that’s dressed up as a modern F1. I don’t think the F1 is replaceable. What made it so special was how advanced it was for the time. Even to this day, is the S1 any “better” than the F1? I don’t think there will ever be another car that compares. I also will never be able to afford one, so cheers!

[Porsche 959] Daily

Owner walked up as I was taking this picture and he asked me if I knew what it was. Gorgeous white 959 over dark green interior. Rims had curb marks, front had rock chips and the entire car was still covered in dust from the previous nights dust storm. A true car owner!

Edit: I do now believe this is a Porsche 959 SC (Reimagined by Canepa). Here is a video I found of if driving some years back: 959 SC

According to the internet, Canepa increases the power output from 444hp to over 800hp?!

Opinions needed!

Hey guys! I am working with Oan.gio on a unique piece for myself. I recently discovered Nghia’s work and fell in love. I’ve always been a huge space nerd and have wanted meteorite dial watch. Here is my vision. I am mainly now trying decide between silver and gold hands. I like how when it’s 12:00, the hour and minute hands will almost represent the streak of light as the meteor travels through space. Let me know what you guys think!

Ecovacs T90 Omni (Non-pro Version) 1 Month Review

Hi All! I wanted to provide everyone here with my review of the Ecovacs T90 Omni Non-pro version. I am in no way affiliated or sponsored by this company. These are purely my thoughts and opinions on the machine after using it for one month. I will also note that this is the first ever robot vac/mop I have ever owned so I do not have any other machine to compare it to.

Now that we got that out of the way, and to save you some time on reading through all of this, all I can say is I am blown away by how great this is for my specific setup. Pay attention to the “my specific setup” part. I will start out by saying I am quite a minimalist and have very little to no clutter. I have no pets as well. In the second picture, you can see where the machine circles. This is either my coffee table, dining room table, couch or counter stools. Other than that, I have no cables running across the floors so the machine does not have much to avoid. In this sense, this is not a completely fair test to comment on its obstacle avoidance as it does not have much to avoid. It does a great job around my furniture as you can see and has never gotten confused about the situation.

Now onto the main difference between the standard T90 and the Pro version. Based on everything I have read, they are entirely the same machine except the standard T90 does not have PowerBoost Charging nor does it have the separate tank to add the disinfectant cleaning solution. I have never noticed the battery being an issue on the standard model and it has a setting that will have the machine return to docking station to charge up in order to complete the job. As for the cleaning solution, you just add it to the clean water tank each time you fill it so the lack of a separate tank didn’t bother me.

One of the highlights and my personal favorites of this machine compared to others I saw is the OZMO roller mop. It’s a 10.6 inch mop head that can extend out from the machine by another 0.6 inches to clean along baseboards.

All in all, this has been a pleasantly surprising first experience with a robot vac/mop. I have read the countless nightmares, but so far this has been a completely hands free product. The setup and app is extremely easy to use. The product has 100% made my life easier and I would happily recommend it to anyone.

[Rolex & Tudor] Best Two Watch Solution

Finally got my Ranger back on the bracelet. Haven’t had it on since I got the Explorer II. I love seeing them next to each other. Both such solid tool watches in their own respects.

Ranger is the perfect vacation watch, when the date shouldn’t matter. I get the gripe with that and the printed dial. These quirks are what make the Ranger unique.

Explorer II is my daily. I wake up and it’s immediately on my wrist. The Polar dial with the contrasted black indices is bang on. Love the pop of the orange GMT hand.

Let me know what your ultimate two watch collection is!

[Multi Vintage] A friend of mine made these for my 30th!

A good friend knew I am a huge watch nerd and made these for my birthday!

Here are some cool facts on each patent:

  1. The Multi-Dial Watch (1933)

Inventor: Herman I. Marmorstein (US1921832.... p. 2)

The Concept: A compact wrist watch that completely ditches traditional hour and minute hands (US1921832.... p. 2). Instead, it uses a series of rotating discs and jump-springs to show the exact time through tiny viewing windows on the face plate (US1921832.... pp. 2-3).

Fun Fact: The design solved a major mechanical headache of its time (US1921832.... p. 2). It introduced a special internal peg that allowed users to roll the minute and ten-minute discs backward to adjust the time—something earlier handless watches couldn't do without breaking (US1921832.... p. 2).

  1. The Arm-Powered Self-Winding Watch (1937)

Inventor: Louis Bornfriend (US2098737.... p. 7)

The Concept: An automatic timepiece that winds itself using an internal pendulum that reacts to the natural movement of your arm, body, or the vibrations of an airplane (US2098737.... pp. 7-8). It also featured a hidden winding crown to keep a sleek profile (US2098737.... p. 10).

Fun Fact: The inventor specifically designed a heavy-duty "releasing mechanism" because standard automatic watches would break during a game of tennis or golf (US2098737.... p. 8). The violent shocks from swinging a racket or club would over-wind the spring, so he added a microscopic clutch to let the system safely slip (US2098737.... pp. 8-9).

  1. The "Time-Stamp" Chronograph (1944)

Inventor: Raoul Pellaton (US2361563.... p. 3)

The Concept: A specialized aviator/racing style watch featuring an extra, completely independent sub-dial with its own set of hour and minute hands (US2361563.... p. 3).

Fun Fact: These extra hands weren't connected to the ticking movement at all (US2361563.... p. 3). They acted as a mechanical memory lock (US2361563.... p. 3). Pulling out the crown allowed you to manually freeze the sub-hands to mark the exact moment you started a mission or race, letting you visually track your total elapsed time against local time (US2361563.... p. 3).

  1. The Multi-Color Time Zone Watch (1957)

Inventor: Richard W. Slaugh (US2794314.... p. 2)

The Concept: A traveler’s watch designed to track up to 12 different time zones simultaneously (US2794314.... p. 2). It swapped out the traditional hour hand for a rotating central disc packed with different zone markers (US2794314.... p. 2).

Fun Fact: To prevent the face from looking like total chaos, every single time zone marker was color-coded (US2794314.... p. 2). It featured an adjustable "half-hand" that you could manually align with your preferred zone (like Greenwich or Eastern time) to create the optical illusion of a normal watch hand for your current location (US2794314.... p. 2).

  1. The Split-Minute Yacht Racing Watch (1969)

Inventor: Henry L. Blum (US3427800.... p. 2)

The Concept: A highly precise, water-tight regatta countdown timer featuring a 30-minute scale split into two distinct 180-degree color zones (US3427800.... p. 2).

Fun Fact: It utilized a unique "two-headed" minute hand where each end had a different shape corresponding to its respective half of the dial (US3427800.... p. 2). This helped sailors perfectly synchronize their countdown with the official race commissioner's starting gun to avoid getting disqualified for crossing the starting line early (US3427800.... p. 2).

  1. The "No-Brainer" Diver's Watch (1969)

Inventor: Paul Wessel (US3475902.... p. 2)

The Concept: A dive watch where the traditional minute track is replaced by depth numbers (in meters) (US3475902.... pp. 1-2). It directly converted time underwater into a safe depth calculation (US3475902.... p. 2).

Fun Fact: This watch was designed so divers didn't have to do decompression math while deep underwater (US3475902.... p. 2). If you were diving at 43 meters, you simply rotated the outer bezel index to the "43" mark (US3475902.... p. 2). When the glowing stop-hand reached that number, it served as a visual alarm telling you it was exactly time to surface (US3475902.... p. 2).

My First Rolex and Grail Piece!

Took a trip to Milan for a friend’s wedding that was located at Lake Garda (pictured). Went to a few different ADs with no luck. Last day in Milan, I decided to visit one last AD. I was told they had one watch in stock and they would check on which model. My grail has always been the Explorer II Polar. The representative made a call and after a few minutes came back to me with the news I had been waiting years for. They had an Explorer II Polar available. I truly was shaking. The stars aligned and now I am a very happy Rolex owner. Cheers!
