It’s been 16 years, but it still really bothers me how BMW stopped updating their car in 2008 mid season while Kubica was genuinely a championship contender

Does anyone else remember this?

BMW stopped updating their 2008 car around Canada time when they won that GP, and Kubica stayed in contention really all the way up until Japan that year.

BMW said they were focusing all their money into the 2009 car, that if I remember correctly was a hunk of shit

Kubica was a great driver. I think he’s very underrated in historical F1 discussion

Why did Nick Heidfeld struggle against Robert Kubica at BMW in a care that was usually fairly competitive

Looking back through the years, Heidfeld had some good races but never consistently put it together

Hey all, Need some advice on how to proceed with this issue

On August 9th, I had a flight from Cleveland to Toronto, and then a connection from Toronto to Vancouver

My flight from Cleveland to Toronto was delayed, and then subsequently canceled due to mechanical problems. Air Canada put me in a hotel, and then scheduled me on a flight home with united airlines the next day

It is now August 16-17, and I have NOT received aeroplan points or SQC credits for the flight home.

The man at the desk who rescheduled me said I would still earn these credits, but nothing.

I am trying to get to 25K this year, and this has really annoyed me. What should I do?

Why did Felipe Massa never get over the hump and win a WDC?

I would say it was directly related to his inconsistent driving. At times in 2008, he was brilliant, and at other times, he was downright terrible m

I feel like this is an easy answer tho^

So, what do you guys think?

Cleveland Hopkins airport is just straight trash

2 hour wait times in the platinum lounge when it was empty? 2 TSA workers for the security Que, which was 1 hour long

Just brutal for a major city. Be better

Major shoutout to jersey mikes subs. An amazing experience

I went to jersey mikes fully understanding I was walking into a sandwich shop, with a nuclear warhead of breadcrumbs everywhere.

But I wanted a damn turkey sandwich. So, risk was being taken

The staff, wiped everything down, made my sandwich with extra care, and ensured me it would be safe. They cut the GF bread (which by the way was the best GF bread I’ve ever had) with a seperate knife, they changed their gloves, and seemed to understand what celiac is.

I apologized for making them do extra work as I always do, and he said “not your fault man, everyone is welcome in here”

I just can’t say enough. What an establishment.

The Idaho murders: college nightmare. I can’t imagine what those cops saw that morning

Wow. Just… wow.

One thing that really got me in the first episode was you got to see the police find the bodies of the deceased in real time, as they saw it.

You can hear their heavy breathing, distress, and shear horror of what they were seeing and discovering.

I’m glad Netflix gave those guys the platform to show their distress, that job cannot be pretty. What an awful thing to walk in on

Edit

I just wanna say, Internet sleuths in this case, and all cases, doing their own “investigation” and then throwing out accusations online for clout and clicks are so cringe. Like genuine scum of the earth people trying to profit off of people’s suffering

This is for my fellow OG’s, let’s talk about Heikki Kovalainen

I've been looking back at the 2008 and 2009 F1 seasons recently and really wanted to get the community's thoughts on Heikki Kovalainen's time at McLaren.

On paper, he had one of the most coveted seats in motorsport sitting right next to a generational superstar in Lewis Hamilton. He won the 2008 Hungarian GP and grabbed an incredible pole position at Silverstone, showing he clearly possessed immense raw single-lap speed. Yet, by the end of 2009, he was dropped in favour of Jenson Button, and his top-flight career never truly recovered.

Why do you think his stint was so unsuccessful? Was he just completely psychologically crushed by the "Hamilton Effect," or did McLaren's car design and tire management heavily disadvantage his specific driving style over long race distances? He has since admitted in interviews that he completely ran out of energy trying to match Lewis every single weekend, but do you think it was a failure of his own absolute talent, or did team politics and lacking strong paddock management like Flavio Briatore seal his fate?

Curious to hear from those who watched that era live—what do you think went wrong for Heikki? Was he a driver capable of a championship in a different environment, or was he just exposed at the front?
