How does CT look on a CRT?

Last night I dreamt that I had a CRT and plugged in the SNES game

And I was SHOCKED by how much better it looked than everywhere else

Blacker blacks, a 3D-like look, amazing

Then I woke up. Was this a dumb dream or is there anything to this that it really does look much better on a true CRT vs. fake scanlines?

(Yes I know this is an absolutely stupid dream to have)

LEAKED: Studio Agent's Pitch to Mysaria

AGENT: Hey Sonoya Mizuno, we got you a role in House of the Dragon!

SONOYA: How lovely! It looks like an all-star casting of my fellow Brits, like Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Rhys Ifans...

AGENT: Yes! But you'll need to speak with a different accent

SONOYA: Oh? An American accent then? A Dornish-style accent like Pedro Pascall did? I guess I could do a Japanese-style...

AGENT: No, we need something JAMAICAN

SONOYA: Jamaican? What? Is anyone else doing that? Am I with a group of travelers or something?

AGENT: No, just you. Literally no one else on the show but you will have the Jamaican accent

SONOYA: I see. Well, tell me more about my character

AGENT: You know Varys from Game of Thrones? You'll be like him!

SONOYA: Oh! I love him, master of whispers, so smart, cunning and always on top of things. Layered motives, a complicated past...

AGENT: Yes! But you'll actually be dumb and oblivious

SONOYA: What?

AGENT: And unlike Varys you'll be VERY sexual

SONOYA: So I use sex as a means to get important information to help the kingdom?

AGENT: No, no, you'll just have lesbian sex with your boss, the queen

SONOYA: But isn't the queen like extremely straight? Isn't that what got her in trouble in the first place with all her extramarital sons? And isn't she married now and deeply in love?

AGENT: Listen, do you want the job or not?

An Analysis: Bobby's Descent

I paid close attention to the scene with Bobby's descent and noticed a lot of sus behavior from Clark

Here's the break-down:

EXHIBIT 1: Clark tied the rope in a weird way that was almost impossible to take off. Bobby says plainly "what kind of knot is this?" - Clark also says there's trouble down there + doesn't want to go himself

EXHIBIT 2: Clark made Bobby's descent turbulent and LOUD to attract attention by dropping too much rope too quickly. He said "sorry, it was stuck on the leg of the bed" - but this explanation makes no sense. The rope is clearly *above* the bed and why would the rope getting stuck make the rope looser instead of tighter?

EXHIBIT 3: When Bobby yells frantically to pull him up, Clark delays and asks "what do you see?" and then hesitates, starts making excuses about the rope being on his feet, doesn't actually pull until Kat yells at him and takes over. A tiny girl doing all the pulling work! Earlier Clark said to yell at the first sign of trouble, but when he does yell Clark stalls

EXHIBIT 4: Once Bobby is back up but being dragged down, Clark goes to help him but just kind of fumbles. Bobby says "what are you doing???" implying that Clark isn't actually trying to untie the rope. Even when Clark grabs Bobby to keep him from falling, his grip is extremely light and half-hearted

I think there are three reads to this:

(1) Clark had normal motives but was just completely, utterly incompetent, messing up the knot, the descent, the pull back, and the rescue. Along the way he made excuses too on everything like he always does. To be honest, he's an incompetent store owner as well and failed as an architect, so this might just be it

(2) Clark wanted to sabotage Bobby's descent and use him as bait. Why? So he could see how dangerous the entity he kept hearing footsteps from really was. He didn't care that it could kill Bobby potentially

Where Clark's plan went wrong was both he and Kat were flung down the tube accidentally. Maybe he didn't care about Bobby but he did care about Kat, a long time employee. He cared enough about Kat that he was even willing to search for her than climb back out and seek safety

(3) A third, more extreme theory is that Clark had met the entity before and wanted to feed it Bobby. In that case he's upset that Kat is running away, he wants to feed her to the entity too and if she escapes it'll bring a ton of attention to him and the Backrooms.

What do you think? Was Clark incompetent, malicious, or demonic?

What's the most re-watchable Nolan Film?

I've seen all his films, even The Following, and enjoyed them very much the first time through

However, every time I try to re-watch one, I lose interest, maybe because they're very intellectually intense, maybe it's the length, maybe it's because I know the puzzle's answer

Am I alone in this or is there a Nolan film you rewatch very often, like yearly?

I do listen to his soundtracks regularly though

How Do You Pronounce "Magus"?

I have a feeling people pronounce his name differently and there are valid reasons for them all

Mah-goosh: "magus" is originally a Persian word and this is how it's pronounced in it
Mah-gus: like maggot, calls 'death' to mind, I used to say this
May-jus: my friend said it this way and it sounded cool, kind of like 'mage'
May-gus: Dictionary of 'magus' says it's pronounced this way in English, the persian 'ah' sound isn't seen much in English so it changed to 'may'
Mah-jus: like 'magii'

You could argue all of them to be honest and since it's never pronounced in voice there's no way to tell, but I'm wondering what you PERSONALLY use for your headcanon?

Sindel in MK Movie

The actress for Sindel is so beautiful and only 34, she could have played Kitana too, whose actress is 31

Pretty amazing that they could be sisters but Sindel pulls off seeming like her mom with some make-up and white hair

Say something positive about Acolyte

While generally disliked, let's practice looking on the bright side and list SOME positive attributes for it that they got right

I'll start:
- Great fight scenes, not afraid of killing a lot of characters brutally
- The guy from Squid Game + Trinity
- A Jedi Wookie

Wishes Cause Temporary Confusion

I think after someone makes a wish they suffer a temporary period of confusion

Exhibit #1: Ian knocking on the door saying "I just got a billion dollars" when Bear obviously knows this already

Exhibit #2: Possessed Bear forgot to throw up the drugs. Maybe the Love for the other person overwhelmed his survival instincts but I dunno, long-term love seems more powerful than just a quick kiss and the entities seem intelligent with long-term planning abilities

Exhibit #3: Possessed Niki acted extremely confused/erratic after the first wish

What do you think? Am I looking too much into this or is something there?

PENGU Analysis

What's the bull case for $PENGU?

> I still hold a lot of the token despite a chart that's down only. Here's my thinking:

> The first is that it's a top memecoin, ranked #4, listed everywhere with good volume. So if we ever get a memecoin season again it'll fly too by default

> One of the three memecoins above it is Shiba Inu, which is somehow 5x its FDV, so flipping Shiba is a doable target

> None of the memecoins below it are that exciting. Many are old memes that people lost faith in

> But let's say we *never* get a memecoin season. Then what?

> Well, could we get a Solana season? PENGU is LP'd with Solana and one if its top tokens, so if Solana's price goes up, it goes up too by default as a nice consolation

> But maybe Solana's cooked. Then what?

> Well, maybe we get an NFT season. If NFTs pump, Pudgy Penguins NFTs pump, and PENGU will pump by default as well. We saw this with APE pumping after Bored Apes went up a lot

> But what if memes, Solana, and NFTs are dead forever too?

> We can hope for an L2 season and that Abstract TGE hits around then and drives excitement for Penguin assets

> No? Maybe a GameFi season and Pudgy gets attention for all its mobile/browser games

> What if that never comes too? Then we hope for institutional/ETF support. Maybe HYPE's success will bring new institutional capital. And PENGU is US-based with good political support so it has a chance

> None of those? No memes, Solana, NFTs, L2, GameFi, or institutions? Well, as the last resort we can hope that the Pudgy business continues to grow, surprise us, and prints enough that we get an IPO which benefits holders

> My main point isn't to shill, there are scenarios where we get killed too, but I think there are enough possible paths to success that having some penguins in your long-term port is a good idea

Shall We Dance (Original Japanese Version)

Saw this 1999 movie at Japan Society tonight and it's low key one of the best films of all time

Wholesome, funny, but great commentary on marriage, living a double life

I used to take dance classes and there are a lot of characters similar to the movie IRL too

Have you seen it?

The Richard Gere version is okay but doesn't live up to the original

Funny Casting Double Standard: 300 vs Odyssey

Some are going crazy over the casting of Odyssey and its historical "accuracy"

I'm Persian and the film 300 cast my ancestors as demonic monsters, Africans, and even made King Xerxes a bald Brazilian raver guy

I don't remember anyone caring or ever bringing that up

Chris Nolan makes some very minor casting decisions in The Odyssey for Greek people, far less egregious, and people are losing their minds

What's up with that?
