Are some types more inclinced to use laughter as a defense mechanism?

There are some people who tend to laugh when they're opening up about their problems for example or smile when talking about something bad that happened to them. My mother is a good example of this. People tend to think she is weird because she does this often. She would break down to tears if someone pointed it out that it's not funny. She doesn't think it's funny either, she just reacts that way to defend her emotions.

Could this be linked to the positive outlook triad or is it completely unrelated?

What even defines an extrovert vs introvert in the broader sense?

It seems there are a million different definitions.

Which one of these are we supposed to follow?

"An introvert is drained by social interaction, groups and parties, extrovert energized by them". "Extroverts are active and outgoing, introverts homebodies". "Introvert charges alone, extrovert gets drained alone". "Introvert gets energy from 1-1 convos and isn't drained by them". "Extrovert expresses emotions and introverts are reserved".

And then, "cognitive extraversion" with the functions orientation being subjective or objective... Some people say you can be a cognitive extrovert but social introvert at the same time?? And some say you can't. why aren't we also using the social battery too when they're intertwined together even by original definition? Your dominant focus would also decide if the outer world energises you.

Something else? What even is right? So which one are we even supposed to use in typology?

Should we use the letters and stereotype, the dominant function, the social battery definition in the broader sense of our personalities to get the message through of what we are??? If I am an ambivert for example in the broader sense I'd have to fit somewhere in the label, or "changed from an extrovert to introvert" which can happen to some?

What are we even using?

Like if I go up to someone, hey I'm an ENFJ what are they going to think in their about what that "E" means when it has so many definitions? They most certainly won't use Jungs descriptions about libido and such. In the community? Not everyone tends to know the cognitive function theory either, and in general. What exactly of the criteria decides it?

Where is the line drawn between which one you are?

What's my enneagram and socionics based on my Random Typologies?

CORRELATIONISTS EMERGE!

Which type does my wardrobe/outfits give vibes of ?

I wonder what this says about me and what impressions and vibes this gives! This is how I dress up pretty much everywhere regardless of the environment!

If you met me on the street with this style:

Do I come across as an extrovert or introvert?

Intuitive or sensory? Thinker or feeler type? :)

Reasoning for the choices:

-I like animal prints, checkers and stripes because they look amazing and I feel fancy in them.

-Brown, green, white and black colors are mainly my wardrobe, comfort colors!

-I like to wear high boots or then flat shoes!

-Big jackets and turtlenecks are my favorite, so comfy and fancy.

-Skirts and dresses make me feel the prettiest.

-Stockings also super comfy and cute!

-Scarfs and necklaces are a must!! I don't feel complete without them.

Could anyone read my self biography (2200 words) and help typing?

I'd send it in DM's if someone could actually help :)

I'd appreciate it. I have suspicions of some types that I am and I'd like confirmation.

I wrote about each area of my functions by separating it into categories so it's understandable.

I have decent understanding of the system, I'm just not sure if I fit the type I think I am.

What are some more unknown obscure and weird typologies?

Are there any fun stuff left out there?

I'm done with py, socionics, enneagram and all of their subtypes. Done with temporistics, sloan, motives, temperaments, hexaco, disc.

Do we have some hidden gems?

What type do I seem like? Yapping about enneagram traits.

I think I could be anything. I'd appreciate any input.

Any question regarding desires, motivations or what I seek in life: the answer will always be romantic connections. It has been my key motivator since I was a teenager and it continues to be. I have always went to extensive lenghts for my romantic partners and endured much more than I probably should have. I desire unconditional passion and romance, it's my life elixir. I can mold into any shape for my romantic partner, be whatever they want.

Regarding fears, it's being both being without a romantic partner or losing resources. I'll do anything to always have some sort of love in my life. I'm also very frugal in buying things to avoid ever not being able to pay bills and save resources like food even when I know I should just use them. I don't want to feel unsafe, alone or abandoned. Being abandoned feels like my soul is crushed and I always need someone by my side. Chaos and changes make me feel very unsafe so I try to prepare. I fear chaos.

For defense mechanisms, I literally use every single one of them so it is impossible to choose.

Anger: I want to be reserved and bottle it up, but sometimes I just can't control it and stop caring all together and just let it all out. This shows by me starting to micromanage others and be very critical, or by being constantly physically active to stay sane. I get irritated easily and what gets me the most angry is when people don't believe me or doubt me. I don't want to feel stupid.

Resentment: I detach from the person or situation emotionally, withdraw and pretend they don't exist. This is because resentment hurts me and I can't deal with it.

People-pleasing: I try to appear polite and kind so I'm not ridiculed. I will do tasks and favors for others if I feel like I will have more worth in their eyes. It's not hard for me to say no, unless I am under pressure. I'm often called hot and cold, and unpredictable in whether I want to be alone or cling onto someone.

Avoidance: I avoid every situation I don't like and I will be stubborn about it, usually because I fear something goes wrong or I'll be too exhausted. I also avoid people if I feel like I don't have mental energy for it. Hate me for it if you want is my philosophy.

Control: I am afraid of being manipulated literally every second. I don't believe in honest humans either. I don't want people to decide for my life, because I'm scared things will go wrong. But I do need guidance. But I usually will never ask for it because then it's too weird when I always act like I can manage on my own.

Status: I don't care for my own social status except when it's expected of me to be higher. I do want to put up a good front and look like a good samaritan to not be excluded even though I'm okay being on my own. I do try to keep myself a bit reserved and closed off to not give too much information about myself since it hurts the picture people have of me.

Relaxing: I am never relaxed (unless I'm with a romantic partner). I have always been a very stressed individual and I predict the worst out of everything. I try to put on a facade and pretend like I don't care but it probably slips through.

Perfectionism: That's me. But only since I don't wanna hear the criticism. I do also want praise for my work because it makes me feel like I am worth something.

Emotional intensity: I enjoy it. It's hard for me to manage but I enjoy the energy and passion of it. I don't withdraw from my emotions. Under threats I will shut down or either argue back. Depends on my current mood.

Discomfort: I generally avoid anything that's not pleasant and won't change my mind, unless I really must do it or if I am socially pressured enough, I am usually strong-willed. I have to disconnect temporarily from my mind if I want to do unpleasant things. I am scared of unpleasant things usually.

Exterior: I'm seen as either a helpless target or intimidating. It depends on my mood is what I've noticed. I don't try on purpose to be either of those. Except I will pretend to be cute to attract partners or that they don't attack me mentally. But I do also try to impress them if it looks like that's what they're into. I want to be seen as I am worth something.

Judgment: I pretend to be okay with everything and not judge others if I want to keep the relationship safe. I just don't wanna ruin things. Sometimes I stop caring and have to do it though.

What am I most likely? I'd appreciate any comment

Am I an ENFP if I am not outgoing and a people person? (Serious) (please read)

So. I've read hundreds of hours about cognitive functions in many different typology systems. The most consistent and relatable function stack has always been Ne-Fi. Not Fi-Ne. Definitely on the Te/Fi axis as well clear as day. Si grip as well. INFP is less relatable to me.

But Im at a crossroads.....

Some people say an ENFP must be socially extroverted but some people say that it doesn't matter becauss the functions are different, and some people say that the functions themselves force ENFP to be extroverted.

So my thing is. I rarely go out on trips or events or parties because I genuinenly just dont like the emotional atmosphere usually and Im instantly drained within a couple hours and go home gloomy. I dont like getting to know strangers and Im not outgoing. I just choose people who look comfortable to me and go with them.

But if I spend time with friends and family it will energize me in the moment and Ill go home so happy. Ill probably be a bit drained of energy? But I dont want to spend time alone almost ever at all. I hate being alone and always need someone to talk with and express emotion with.

I've been told that Im very social and talkative, bubbly and crazy by people close to me. But strangers usually view me as a moody reserved rock. :/

-------------

TLDR; Can I still be an ENFP if I'm like this?

I'm having mixed signals.

I relate more to ENFP functions than INFP but I'm not outgoing or intrigued to talk to strangers.

21F looking for genuine friends, fun times or deep thoughts :)

21F Looking for long-term friendships, lots of laughs and jokes or just deep conversations. Anything goes as long as we are both enjoying it! I don't shy away from (almost) anything! I'm very open minded and nonjudgmental.

I'm sort of eccentric and I hope I can meet someone who can match my energy.

For my deepest passions I enjoy psychology, philosophy and to play games.

Hit me up and tell me your hottest take or send a picture of your cat. Anything but "Hi" please.

Retyping. Looks aight?

Previous typing IEE SX4.

This time I'm sure I DO fit the descriptions of each type and subtype that is here.

Even though last time I was sure too 😭 idk maybe my previous typing was real. (Jk) I typed as everything almost..

Ill probably retype 4 more times because im too indecisive

Too exhausted from typology to take this seriously anymore lol.

I still wanna hear thoughts,

Im open to change anything if it the whole picture of "fits my overall personality vibe" better

I'm so bored and wired but can't concentrate on anything. What to do?

I'm just so wired up all the time and have the need to run a marathon, but of course my body gets physically exhausted at a certain point of constantly doing stuff.... my back hurts so bad... so then I just sit here bored that I can't do anything fun anymore. Ill be cleaning and doing stuff Ill day long till Im almost fainting because I just cant sit still.

So I try to do anything "normal" I just can't focus or enjoy anything because I feel like my brain isn't getting stimulated enough.... I can't do my basic hobbies like reading, concentrate on any task or painting etc bcus I dont "get anything out of it"... And during night time this gets so much worse... you can't make noise at night of course because of neighbors and can't go outsides either and I suffer because my brain won't stop thinking either. So falling asleep is hard and I keep coming up with stupid stuff and then feel like I have to do it immediately

And at the same time i have this shame of somehow not being productive and succesful and i feel like im useless and like i should do so much more and already be better, and i feel guilty for feeling like this because i was long in a depression

What do you people tend to do when this hits?

Thoughts?

Overall very passive and easygoing positions in attitude to the outside world in every typology but still has an internal storm.

Not my typology. Read everything carefully and seemed to fit. Looked at correlation chart and looked normal.

Help typing me...I think I'm every type and lost and confused

Please help..i mistype all the time.

  1. I would never want to be evil or seen as useless to others

  2. I've failed as a person if I'm scolded.

  3. I'd be unsafe in life without love...

  4. For my life to not fall apart I need shelter. And love.

  5. Trust is broken once I'm lied to, nothing else.

  6. I struggle with boundaries.

  7. I retreat from emotional rooms but face one-on-one conflicts with bravery.

  8. I'm most scared of not being loved or not having shelter.

  9. Most draining is trying to keep everything together and trying to manage other people.

  10. I feel guilty for everything basically and that everything is my fault and I think I'm responsible for everything. I'm never enough.

  11. I feel like I'm doing something right if I'm not annoying others and contributing to society in a way that I'm accepted.

  12. My default survival mechanism is distractions, emotional detachment and denying reality which I hate that I do.

  13. Others often say that I'm very kind and caring but I always struggled to understand why they say it because I feel like I do nothing good for anyone. They say I'm accepting but I feel like I'm too harsh and judgmental.

  14. Something **I must do** is contribute to society in some way or I'm useless in my mind.

  15. I can't handle failure or criticism, it's my biggest breaking point socially. Emotionally I can't handle change.

  16. I may get very obsessed over something like a loved one and nothing else will matter to me than that thing. I'd so anything to keep a loved one for example and go to extensive lengths so they don't leave.

  17. My biggest thought loop I get stuck in is that I'm useless or that I will be abandoned and I have to do something about it or I'll break down.

  18. In other people I pay attention to how they talk and what they actually mean with what they're saying. I like to look under their mask and dig up their vulnerabilities because I feel sad for them and somehow want to relate to their pain.

  19. I *try* to represent myself as kind and happy so that people don't get bored of me and abandon me. Sometimes I just give up and let people hate me...

  20. I'm always afraid I'll be betrayed or manipulated but I try not to give it too much thought as its devastating.

  21. I was always called a perfectionist because I hate making mistakes.

  22. I try to be authentically myself but it often fails because I know the reality is upsetting to most.

  23. What I want the most in life is freedom and love.

  24. The ideal best version of me is perfect of course but thats impossible. So it would be succesful and loved..

Final typology? I mistyped as probably every type already (Please read)

Thought I was EIE, IEI and EII at one point but later realised that they don't fit how I actually am.

Is there any combination here that is IMPOSSIBLE? I dont care about correlation but contradiction yes because from every source I read these are the types that fit me the best. And from my understanding there werent any fundamental issues in flow of energy and directions or whatever

(cant wait for the guy who says "none of this makes any sense")
