Got my tongue pierced last week and downsized yesterday - what a relief!!

I have wanted it for a long time but been so nervous about it. Eventually got it done over a week ago and went through a pretty rough week where I really questioned taking it out, but after downsizing yesterday it suddenly feels so much more comfortable. Feeling very content with myself today, and a lot more comfortable too.

Tongue Piercing in Professional Office Environment

Just looking to get a sense check and some reassurance from others - I work in a professional office environment with around 100 others all in a mix of ages. It’s pretty relaxed in general but still can be a little conservative at times. I already have a few piercings in my ears and my nose, but I’ve booked an appointment to get my tongue done in about two weeks. I’ve got some time off planned afterwards so it will hopefully be settled down by the time I come back. But I’m after getting paranoid about how my work my react if they notice it, or if they will judge me or it affects my future career.

Looking for a sense check from anyone else as to your experience? If you have yours done or someone else in your office has, or any other advice. I’m in my late 20’s for context.

Food ideas while healing a tongue piercing?

I’m booked to get my tongue done in a few weeks so planning ahead and stocking up for the recovery period. I’m expecting at least a week where it’s going to be ridicule to eat regular food. Ice cream yogurt and mashed potatoes seems to be the default but trying to plan some meals that are more healthy and wholesome than this, but still soft and easy to eat.

Tongue piercing - what age is too old??

I just booked an appointment to get mine done after wanting it for years but backing out previously. Right now I’m overthinking and worrying about every possibility. But what age do people think is too old to get one? Like where you just say, you should have more common sense, or be more of a grown up. For context I’m in my late 20’s, in a professional job, have a few other piercings already but none that are particularly visible so just wondering if there’s still a lot of stereotypes about tongue ones?

Please give me your opinion, or perspective, or reassurance to stop me spiraling with worries!!

Appointment Booked forTongue Piercing - wish me luck!

After spending months debating it and years before that where I always wanted it, I’ve just booked an appointment to get my tongue done in a few weeks. Still super nervous and anxious about it, but at least I’m committed to it now.

I’ve found this sub to be so helpful in my research, and so many people here have helped reassure and prepare me, so just giving everyone the latest update. I’d love any any other encouragement or advice anyone might have, whether it is

- just simply wishing me luck and helping keep the nerves away

- any advice or tips you might have based on your experience

- or anyone else who’s in the same boat who wants to know what the process and aftercare is like if your considering it yourself in the future.

Please feel free to comment as Ive benefited so much from other people’s feedback so I need to repay the favour to anyone else who might be in the same situation.

Sense check from HR - tongue piercing in a professional environment?

Can I get a perspective or sense check on this please?

I work in a professional office environment - think kind of like professional services. It’s not totally formal, but not fully casual too. I’ve wanted to get my tongue pierced for a long time and I’m considering doing it in the next few weeks but I’m very nervous about how it could be perceived or the reaction at work. Does anyone have any advice or experience on this?

I’m hoping to take some time off to let it heal and settle down and also to get it pierced as far back as possible and with an unobtrusive jewelry to keep it as minimal and unnoticeable as possible. But I’m sure someone is still going to notice it sometime.

How popular are piercings and tattoos?

I know this is hard to answer black and white as it depends a lot by age group or other demographics. But what is your sense for how popular piercings and tattoos are? Seems like they have exploded over the last 10 years - do they keep getting more popular or maybe fade away a little?

Booked a consultation for a tongue piercing - wish me luck!!

I’ve wanted to get it done for years but always been so nervous and actually backed out at the last minute before. So my small success for the week is taking the first step to book the consultation.

Hoping for encouragement to battle through the nerves and go through with it, as well as any advice or experience anyone might have if you’ve been through it before.

Planning on getting my Tongue Pierced

I’m scheduled for a consultation with my piercer soon to do an anatomy check to see if I can get a tongue piercing. I’ve wanted it for a while but always been nervous and anxious about going through with it.

Can anyone think of things I should ask as part of my consultation and preparation? Or any advice or experience if you have been through it yourself previously.

Piercings and tattoos, and future careers?

Can I ask how people with piercings and/or tattoos think about them with your future career. Do you intend taking them out if you need to in the future - or do you plan to keep them (or able to hide them easily)

Or do you not really think that far ahead and just expect that employers won’t really have too much issue with them nowadays?
