...and he wouldn't get home until the spring of 1946.

I opened my account with Elevations over a decade ago, and had always remained in good standing. Upon opening I specifically set up my accounts so that if I attempted to make a purchase with my debit card but had insufficient funds in my checking account, it would simply decline the purchase rather than transferring funds from savings and hitting me with an overdraft fee.

And so it was for years, until 2021 when without my consent and without notifying me, Elevations quietly removed the overdraft protection, and then proceeded to hit me with overdraft fees totaling around $700.

As soon as I became aware of this I went directly to the local office and sat down with the branch manager. First, he admitted that they had made this change to my accounts without my consent and without notifying me, and that this was their mistake. Then he told me that it was beyond his power to correct their mistake or to return the money they had taken, but eventually came around to offering to refund half of the money (so obviously it was totally within their power to correct their mistake in the first place).

After that, I proceeded to make a stink about the fact that they had pretty much stolen this money from me, and that as far as I was concerned they owed me the balance. In response, they barred me from entering any of their branch offices or using their telephone service.

I pulled all of my money out, opened an account with another bank, and gave very clear orders to close my Elevations accounts. Nearly a year later I found out that my Elevations accounts were still open.

The moral of the story is that Elevations Credit Union is not sufficiently trustworthy to bank with. They will lie to you, they will change your account without your consent or notification, they will steal your money, they will punish you for attempting to address their dishonest behavior, and when you've finally had enough and go to close your account, they will quietly keep your account open with a zero balance.

These people are unprofessional, dishonest, and frankly dangerous to anyone keeping money in their vaults. A word to the wise, bank literally *anywhere* else. DO NOT bank with Elevations Credit Union.
