The Argument Against Israel - 1) Legal
The fact that Israel is the only country to constantly assert its supposed right to exist is evidence of its insecurity to that end. That's because, by the standard set forth in international law, Israel's right to exist is uniquely and extremely debatable, even in comparison to any other nation. The prerequisites for the legal recognition of any state include popular sovereignty, defined borders, and the maintenance of certain standards of international law, including the prohibition of the acquisition of territory by force, the prohibition of the denial of self-determination, the prohibition of apartheid or ethno/religious supremacism, the prohibition of wars of aggression, and the prohibition of genocide. Let's review each of these prerequisites in regard to Israel:
- Popular Sovereignty - The international covenant on civil and political rights (to which Israel is signatory) states that "the will of the people must be the basis of the authority of government, and that will must be expressed in periodic and genuine elections by universal and equal suffrage." This standard nullifies Israel's claim to legitimacy because Israel excludes millions of Palestinians who constitute both the popular majority and the indigenous population, on the basis of the very ethno/religious nationalism which Israel asserts in declaring itself "the Jewish state".
- Defined borders - Border disputes can exist here and there, but any state whose borders are entirely undefined does not meet this minimum requirement. Israel's borders are merely armistice lines established to separate forces. Israel's actual borders are fluid, loosely defined by temporary treaties, and frequently violated by Israel itself. Moreover, Israel is engaged in a constant process of expansion, annexing territory from its neighbors through military force, which is specifically forbidden in international law. ( https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=HtBfPa3P-eU )
- The maintenance of International legal standards - Nations actually have a duty under international law to NOT recognize any nation established in violation of certain standards of international law, or which routinely violates them, stating that "no state shall recognize as lawful or render any aid to maintaining a situation created by a serious breach of "Jus cogens" (peremptory norms that cannot be overridden by treaties or national laws) and "Erga omnes" (obligations owed toward all members of the international community)." These standards of international law include:
- the prohibition of the acquisition of territory by force (which Israel has routinely violates by invading, occupying, and annexing territory from Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Egypt, and the indigenous Palestinian population, which England was given a mandate from the League of Nations to prepare for independence, not for invasion, partition, and subsequent expulsion by European settlers).

- the prohibition of the denial of self-determination (which Israel violates with its disenfranchisement of the indigenous Palestinian population).
- the prohibition of apartheid or ethno/religious supremacism (which Israel routinely violates with its unequal treatment of the indigenous Palestinian population both inside and outside of the green line, as well as its declaration of a state for the specific interests of one ethnic or religious group over those of another).
- the prohibition of wars of aggression (which Israel routinely violates against its neighbors in the region, as well as against the indigenous Palestinian population).
- and the prohibition of genocide (the defining characteristics of which were deemed by the ICC to have been met by Israel's actions in Gaza, prompting the ruling that the case would proceed).

Of all of these prerequisites for statehood, there is only one nation which fails to meet or comply with every single one of them. According to International law, these violations nullify the rights typically afforded to states, such as the right to territorial integrity and the right to self-defense. Which brings us to a point often cited by zionists in defense of Israel's constant wars of expansion - the assertion that "Israel has a right to defend itself."
Just as it is in civil/criminal law that one who breaks into somebody else's house can't claim self defense within the house that they've violated, it's also true in international law that no state has the claim to self-defense in foreign territory that it occupies. Russia can't claim self-defense in Ukrainian territory, the US can't claim self-defense in Iraqi or Cuban territory and likewise, Israel can't claim the right to self-defense in occupied Palestinian, Lebanese, Syrian, Jordanian, or Egyptian territory. By law, the only place where Israel has a right to self-defense in is within the borders of the 1947 UN partition plan, as all expansion since then constitutes the acquisition of territory by force and illegal occupation.
Furthermore, given that these and all aforementioned violations are consistent today and were foundational to the establishment of Israel, and that according to international law any such state has no right to recognition at all, this means that Israel's *entire* claim to legitimacy is defunct under international law, and therefore *all* Israeli territory is merely occupied territory of other states and peoples, and therefore Israel not only has no legal right to exist, but also has no right to defend itself *whatsoever*.
The Argument Against Israel - 2) Historical
The historical arguments surrounding Israel's existence fall into two categories: That the Israeli state is necessary to protect Jewish people from antisemitism, and that zionists should have the right to establish the Israeli state in Palestine because it's where Judaism originated.
While the first may have been true historically, it no longer is because antisemitism in the 21st century just isn't a major factor like it was in centuries past. Today, Jewish communities are perfectly safe and thriving in almost any country. Not only is Israel *not* necessary for the protection of Jewish people, but as the rabbi Yaakov Shapiro astutely points out, Israel is actually the *least* safe place in the world for Jewish people.
Only in Israel do Jewish people regularly have to run for bomb shelters. Only in Israel is Judaism used as a rhetorical shield to deflect criticism of the state's crimes. Only in Israel do Jewish people live as literal human shields in that when violent resistance inevitably emerges against Israeli crimes and the desperate circumstance emerges in which Israelis are taken hostage by these resistance factions, these Jewish people are subject to be killed by the IDF under the famous Hannibal directive, as Yoav Gallant admits was done on October 7th greatly increasing the number of Israelis killed that day.
The Israeli state knows that after so much unspeakable cruelty playing out before the entire world, it has lost all credibility and legitimacy. So it goes out of its way to foster actual antisemitism, and simultaneously broadens the definition to include mere criticism of Israel. Now, the majority of supposed antisemitic instances are just misrepresented objection to Israeli atrocities which are then falsely labeled in order to obfuscate the argument and to inflate the numbers of reported antisemitic instances, which serves the Zionist cause because without antisemitism Israel loses that cornerstone argument justifying its existence. That's why zionists can't debate in good faith, and always have to resort to tactics like twisting your words, putting words in your mouth, classic DARVO, and of course the constant allegations of antisemitism. Disagreeing with a zionist? You're an antisemite. Protesting the sale of stolen Palestinian homes? You're protesting against Judaism. Opposed to genocide? Wouldn't you know it, you're an antisemite. Israel knows how ridiculous it looks.
It knows how absurd it looks when its ambassador stands in front of a wall full of children's art in a hospital and says that it's antisemitic, or when its military commander stands in front of a nurse's schedule in a hospital that they've bombed and says that it's a "Hamas terror plan". They know how ridiculous they look when they describe a memorial for the children killed in Gaza as "a call for violence against Jews", or call Ms. Rachel "antisemite of the year".
Israeli propagandists out of their way to do ridiculous things like that, rage-baiting in order to inspire criticism which they can then point to as an example of supposed antisemitism; or where possible to inspire actual hatred from those who fail to make the distinction between Israel and the Jewish people (a distinction that Israel itself is constantly trying to erode). The Israeli state knows exactly what its doing. It wants to be hated, because in their propaganda sphere it justifies their cruelty, and it legitimizes the existence of the Israeli state, in a world where neither of those things really work anymore.
Israel knowingly and purposefully fosters antisemitism because it needs antisemitism to justify its existence.
___
As for the second element of the historical argument - that Palestine is where the Jewish religion originated: of the thousands of years of regional history, ancient Israel only existed for a brief period of about 250 years. The land, which was called Palestine for thousands of years before that (and written about by contemporaries in ancient Greece and Egypt, such as Herodotus and Ramses III) and again for thousands of years afterward, was ruled by ancient Babylon, Assyria, Egypt, and the Ottomans, each for centuries longer than ancient Israel existed. So by that same right that Israel claims, Iraq, Syria, Egypt, and Turkiye all have significantly greater claims to this land. But all of these claims ignore Palestinian personhood. Zionists often assert that the lack of historical Palestinian statehood somehow legitimizes their dispossession. That implies a logical framework in which the genocide against the native Americans, or the centuries of atrocities against Jewish communities throughout Europe was also acceptable because they too were stateless at the time. Clearly that position is absurd.
Furthermore, zionists like to assert that the very name of Palestine was invented by the Romans in order to erase the Jewish people out of some supposed antisemitism. Of course in reality the Romans didn't destroy ancient Israel and desecrate their temple because of any "antisemitism" analogous to our modern context where it means racism against Jewish people. The Romans routinely destroyed the states and peoples who refused to assimilate. They did the same to Carthage and to many of the Gaulish and Celtic nations, especially in Great Britain where Sutonious Paulinus desecrated the main holy site of Celtic Druidism in northwestern Wales on what's now called Angelsey Island, destroying their alters and sacred groves, killing the last of the druids and priestesses, and *actually* eradicating druidism (unlike Judaism, as Jewish people maintained their religion and were able to migrate throughout the empire). What happened to Israel and Judeah after their revolt against the Roman empire wasnt unique among victims Roman invasion, nor was it worst among them, and neither was it fueled by some supposed racism akin to the medieval or modern era.
After the Judean revolt and subsequent dissolution of Israel and Judeah, the Romans restored the land to its original name, the Latin variant of the ancient Philistine - a name that they knew well as Roman society was well versed in Greek and Egyptian history which predated Israel and Rome by millenia.
There is no contemporary evidence that the Romans ever forced any mass migration of the general population out of Palestine after the Israeli and Judean states were dissolved, and for the Romans to have done so but allowed the same people to immigrate into Rome itself would have been pretty silly. ["You can't live here anymore...but you can come live in our cities."] In fact, the majority of the population stayed right there in Palestine.
When Islam emerged centuries later, most of the remaining population converted, just as some of them had converted to Christianity during the centuries in between. That's why there is this population of indigenous Palestinian people, whose DNA proves continuity with the population that has been there since the bronze age, who are Muslim, Christian, and Jewish...and these zionist invaders who came from Europe and America to create an ethno/religious-supremacist state are actually doing so against the native population, who are much more directly descended from the ancient Israelites than modern zionists.
Simply put: after the Romans destroyed ancient Israel, some of the population left into diaspora but much of it stayed right there in Palestine, and today some of the descendents of those who left (alongside even more whose ancestors converted to Judaism during the centuries in between and actually have no ancestral connection to Palestine at all) are coming to Palestine to build an ethno/religious-supremacist, settler-colonial apartheid state through a campaign of forced removal, terrorism, and genocide against the actual descendants of those who never left at all.
The Argument Against Israel - 3) Religious
The religious argument for zionism is also based on the fact that Palestine is where Judaism originated.
Theologically, Jewish prophecy says that the Messiah will recreate the ancient kingdom, and attempts by men to do so will be evil, and even the tool of the anti-messiah. This is part of why the Orthodox Jewish community is so vehemently antizionist - because zionism is an affront to core Jewish theology.

Logically, imagine an American who follows the Anglican religion claiming that he has the right to invade England and displace or kill the English people because that's where his religion originated. How seriously would you take his claim? Again, it's just an absurd argument that has no basis in ethics or logic.
In summary, fuck Israel. The genocidal, settler-colonial, ethno/religious supremacist project is a blight upon the world, the source of most of the trouble in the Middle East, the source of most antisemitism in the 21st century, and a parasite to America that routinely spies on us, steals our strategic and nuclear secrets and fissile material, and routinely bribes and/or blackmails our leadership. Its arrogance, its hubris, and its cruelty are unparalleled in the modern world, and its very "right to exist" is extremely dubious according to the standards of international law, Jewish theology, and historical precedent.
Israel should not exist, period.

Beware of the more subtle forms of zionist propaganda.
As we've all seen, a major part of Israel's recent social media blitzkrieg revolves around posting and commenting in support of Israel, and engaging in debate with the vocal majority who oppose them on the subject of Israel's genocide in Gaza, its legitimacy as a state, and the history and ethics surrounding the topics.
But the other, more subtle part is posting content that isn't about Palestine at all, and instead seeks to just normalize Israel with small, seemingly innocent posts, like pictures of cats and food and such. The obvious goal is to distract people from the fact that Israel is a genocidal settler-colonial apartheid project, to make it seem like a normal place that isn't an ethno/religious supremacist project.
Some of these subreddits and posts are just pics of StreetCatsOfTheWorld (most of which are in Israel), some of them are various stolen Arabic recipes posted as Israeli, often prominently featuring hummus, and more examples have been recently emerging every day. Stay vigilant and don't let them distract you, don't let them normalize themselves or their illegitimate genocidal colonial project.
