20F, struggling academically and financially — what career should I build toward?

Hi everyone. I’m 20F and I just turned 20 this July.

Lately I’ve been feeling like I’ve wasted a lot of time and potential, and I honestly don’t know what direction to take from here.

I was never very good at academics. I scored around 65% in 10th, failed 11th, and then completed 12th through NIOS in Humanities.

After that, I joined a private college for BBA, but I dropped out after the first semester because I was struggling to understand the course and wasn’t doing well. I barely attended and only completed 3 out of 12 internal exams.

I’m now pursuing a BA in Economics from a government college, and I have around 5 months of BPO/customer service experience.

My family situation is also difficult. They compare me to other people a lot and push me toward things I don’t really want to do. They also didn’t know about my academic/college history for a long time. A close friend told them about my college dropout, and since then things at home have become much worse. I don’t have much financial or emotional support from my family right now.

I know I’ve made mistakes. I’m not trying to blame anyone for them. But I also don’t want to spend the next 5–10 years feeling like I’m paying for those mistakes.

Right now, I need to start earning and supporting myself. I’m looking for a job, but I really don’t want to stay in BPO/customer service permanently.

This is where I need some honest advice.

What career/field would you recommend for someone in my situation?

I’m willing to work extremely hard and spend the next few years building skills. Ideally, I’d like to eventually reach something like ₹30–50 LPA, although I understand that’s ambitious and may take many years.

I’ve considered fields like HR, product management, business/operations, analytics, etc., but I honestly don’t know what is realistic for someone with my academic background.

I’m looking for a field that:

- Doesn’t require me to be academically brilliant

- Doesn’t require an expensive degree immediately

- Has actual demand and hiring opportunities

- I can realistically enter with a BA Economics degree + skills

- Has good long-term salary growth

- Won’t be easily replaced by AI

- Gives me a path to eventually earn ₹30–50 LPA

- Is achievable if I consistently put in the work for 3–7 years

I’m not looking for a get-rich-quick scheme. I just want a realistic direction where my past mistakes don’t completely determine my future.

If you were 20, had my academic background, limited money/support, and were starting from almost zero, what career would you choose and what would you do over the next 3–5 years?

Please be honest, even if the answer is harsh. I’d rather hear the truth than get false motivation.

Thank you. ❤️

People who use tiffin services in Dehradun, I need your honest opinion.

Hi everyone! ❤️

My mausi and I recently started a small home-cooked tiffin service in Dehradun. It's something we've put a lot of love and effort into because we truly enjoy cooking for others.

We're not here to advertise. We genuinely want to learn from people who regularly order tiffins.

If you've ever subscribed to a tiffin service, what made you continue with it? And what made you stop ordering?

Was it:

The taste?

Hygiene?

Late delivery?

Repetitive menu?

Portion size?

Price?

Or something else?

We're trying to build a service that feels like a comforting homemade meal after a long day, especially for students and working professionals living away from home.

Your honest feedback—good or bad—would mean a lot to us and help us improve.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience. 🙏❤️

Thinking about doing my Master’s/MBA in South Korea — would love honest experiences 🇰🇷

Hi everyone!

I’m currently doing my Bachelor of Arts and I’ve been seriously thinking about doing my Master’s in South Korea after I graduate. I might apply for scholarships (including GKS), but I’m also considering the possibility of studying there as a self-funded student.

Before making such a big decision, I’d really love to hear from international students who have actually studied or are currently studying in Korea.

I’m especially considering these universities:

• Kookmin University

• Sejong University

• Hongik University

• Dongguk University

If you’ve studied at any of these universities, I would REALLY appreciate an honest review — good or bad. I’m also open to recommendations for other universities.

Some things I’m curious about:

• Master’s/MBA: Are there MBA or business-related Master’s programmes that are genuinely 100% taught in English? Or do you eventually need Korean for classes, presentations, group projects, etc.?

• University recommendations: Which Korean universities would you personally recommend to an international student? I’m not only interested in rankings — I’d love to know about teaching quality, professors, international student support, campus life and overall experience.

• Jobs after graduation: Has anyone here completed a Master’s/MBA in Korea and actually managed to get a good job in Korea afterwards? How difficult was the process? What field do you work in, and how important was your Korean level when applying for jobs?

• Part-time jobs: How realistic is it for an international student to find part-time work while studying? Is Korean basically necessary? Can part-time income realistically cover a meaningful portion of living expenses?

• Living in Korea: What is everyday life actually like as an international student? Rent, food, transportation, making friends, loneliness, social life, etc.

• Academic pressure: How stressful are Korean universities at Master’s level? Is the workload manageable, or is the academic/work culture quite intense?

• Culture/social environment: How welcoming are Korean students towards international students? Is it easy to make Korean friends and actually become part of university life, or do international students mostly stay within international circles?

• Bullying/hierarchy: Korean dramas sometimes portray university/work culture as very hierarchical or show bullying and social exclusion. Obviously dramas aren’t real life, so I’d love to hear what it’s actually like. Have you experienced issues with hierarchy, discrimination, exclusion or bullying as an international student?

• Scholarship vs self-funded: If you studied through GKS or another scholarship, how was your experience? And if you were self-funded, do you think the overall cost was worth it?

Most importantly, do you think doing a Master’s/MBA in South Korea was worth it for your career?

If you studied at Kookmin, Sejong, Hongik or Dongguk, I’d especially love to hear your experience — academics, English-taught courses, professors, campus life, international student support, housing, internships, job opportunities and anything you wish you had known before enrolling.

And if you could go back in time, would you choose Korea again? Would you choose the same university?

I’d really appreciate honest experiences, including negative ones. I’m trying to understand what studying and building a career in Korea is actually like rather than relying on university marketing or what we see online.

Thank you! :)
