AITAH for telling my dad to wash his own dishes?
Im a 17f who has repeatedly told my family members to wash the dishes because they think of me as their dishwasher. My 15f brother barely knows how to wash an oily dish. My mother gives me almost all the chores and when i say im tired she says im lazy. My dad does absolutely nothing. He doesn't work due to medical reasons and gets money from the country. My mom does work and comes home being expected to cook for my dad who has been home all day and knows how to cook.
I confronted my mother multiple times telling her to stop making me do almost everything and on days when she's doing something she'll immediately complain im not doing anything when I've clearly done something.
Just now i walked into the kitchen. No tableware in the sink when my dad walks up holding a plate, places it into the sink and walks off. I felt so much anger i couldnt believe myself. He always has been the reason for the dishes piling up and it actually angers me.
I confronted him in the living room, my mom was sitting nearby and both started calling me crazy, disrespectful and dumb because i am done working as their personal maid. They immediately turned to yelling instead of forming boundaries with me like i had simply asked. Im actually so angry i might cry.
I hate traditional households.
Even when i burn myself a little by scattering oil my mom just goes "You're a woman." instead of asking if im okay. I told her to stop but she wouldn't. Each time im physically hurt she tells me im a woman and should suck it up. She knows i hate when she says things like this. Im not a feminist but i believe that all genders should do what they want to.
So why do i have to stay a maid when everyone in my house has capable hands?
AITAH for standing up against them.
