What is your favourite Skyblock variant?

So at this point we've ended up with a fair few categories of x-block packs.

  • Classic skyblocks
  • Sky factory and its variants
  • One-block
  • Seablock
  • Stoneblock
  • If you count it, backrooms packs like Liminal Industries
  • etc

For my part I always come back to the sky factory style ones, especially SF3. I like the idea of seablock but i always get oddly frustrated by the swimming around to find stuff part

Stoneblock has changed so much since its inception that it almost feels like multiple entries, SB4 is so different to SB1 which deserves some credit.

I think the void just gives so much room for creativity and design, but I find the self-directed progression of skyblock/skyfactory more engaging than having to plan around what the one block is gonna feed you next

I feel like I trapped myself in a corner a bit

So I had an idea for a threat, not directly a monster but more of a "cursed item" type thing.

The item in question is a book of urban legends, but reading it aloud causes the stories to manifest in the real world. We had a short sesh where the group encountered it when someone is killed in the manner of the High Beams story (the one where the killer was in the back of the car all along), and i ended the session on a hint at the hook handed man.

My issue is a simple one... I'm not sure how to establish the book is the source of the apparitions, especially in a way where the solution isn't just “take the book off whoever has it and dont read it”

My main idea was like, the more people caught in the stories, the stronger the magic gets. But also then once it’s grown more, people’s fear of whatever danger is hiding in the faire, is what starts manifesting stuff.

I had a plan for the actual monster(s), which is a 'Hat Man'. Its based on sleep paralysis demons / people overthinking shadows they see when high / half awake. They aren't inherently malicious but the stories steer them so when people tell scary/dangerous stories, it causes them to do harm. I think the main ways to fend them off are either a lack of belief (if you don't buy into the story it can't play out), or tricking them into a story where they're the one who dies/loses.

I had meant to do more prep but the heatwave wiped me out so im trying to wrangle my plans

[TOMT] Old CYOA [book]

I have fragmented memories of this book and it’s so weird i want to revisit it. The things I remember: the protagonist is under 18, because im 90% sure their parents are mentioned. Theyre staying in an old house, maybe a hotel? at some point, the bedposts on their bed turn out to be able to talk and give them dreams/wishes? one of the dream scenarios is working in a fast food restaurant, with one option causing you to fall in the chip frier, vs “extra cheese” making the manager like you? I think? one of the endings has you wish you could do something to thank the bedposts for helping you and you get trapped in their place while the spirits fly off, saying they’ll come back… eventually

Takedown Marathon isn't difficult. It's annoying. There's a difference

On paper, the Clean Infiltration takedown challenge is really fun. Keep stealth, make good use of gadgets, etc.

But in practice, the inconsistency of AI detection, the game's love of randomly making you punch someone when you press the prompted takedown button because for 0.1 seconds they briefly turned too much, etc.

And if you're slightly low on chems, or the reinforcements don't stack perfectly for you to pair smoke + the fire extinguisher, have fun, start your run again.

It didn't feel satisfying to get. My reaction was "Christ, finally!" and then quitting for the day

Getting confused by the weapon limitations.

So I've been gearing up some of my guys using Munda Manager to help me, and my understanding of it was that "Fighter's List" is the stuff you can buy at any time. And then the post-battle action to try and find rare stuff, is using the Trading Post table.

Now, I know my guys have limits on what categories they can pull from. I'm playing an Outlaw gang so I'm going to the black market and can get illegal items.

But in terms of what I can get, using a Cawdor Brethren as an example. He can't equip special/heavy weapons, only pistols, basic weapons and melee ones.

But under Basic Weapons, is a Boltgun. Which is a flat upgrade on this brethren's current Reclaimed Autogun. The only limit is R8 and I rolled 12 (well, 11 +1 for champion).

So I can buy and equip that right, even though it's not on his normal list?

Is there a Discipline Bonus for Malstrain Wyrd?

I was talking to someone else in my campaign about Wyrd powers, and they drew my attention to the bonuses the base disciplines give. But Malstrain doesn't seem to have one

As promised: Turned my Redemptor Priest from concept to kitbash.

My painting skills are not the best, but I'm pretty happy with how she looks. I'll do some cleanup and some more tweaking to the contrast on things like her face, but this is good enough for game.

Ended up keeping the tactical rock even though it makes her a bigger target, just because I like her being taller than her retinue.

Also, as a bonus, she totally still fits the gang's aesthetic.

ft. bonus WIP Freeguild kitbash for my next Brethren.

How the hell are people scoring several hundred thousand against the story levels?

I've been trying to get 5* on prophet but im stuck around the 65-70k mark, and i got curious how high up the boards i am, and ended up looking at the top 10.

There's almost a dozen people with 200k+ score, with 3 of them having 500k plus?? How is that even possible?

Does the C'Tan actually fit in Tomb World?

So I've been playing some Joint Ops stuff in Gallowdark now I'm mostly done painting it, as a little break.

I was trying out the Red Terror statblock, using an SK as a stand-in since its a similar ish base size... and one thing I noticed is it barely fits into the corridor parts. Like i have to really kinda shimmy it in.

Does Tomb World have skinnier walls? Or is the C'tan an equally smug fit. I dont own a nightbringer so IDK
