Constipation

Hello!!

My baby is 8 months! And of course entering into solids. Now I have taken her to the doctor and they told me to try Miralax since the other over the counter item "Mommy's bliss" didn't improve much . it helped for atleast a good 2 days but now its been 2 days going on 3 and no poop. Some of course farting here and there has happened. I have also done the bicycle legs and rubbing the tummy. Is anyone else going through this as well? I will be going again to the doctor if another day passes with no poop.

**edited: I gave her half of prunes pureed without her milk and within 20 mins she pooped! thank you everyone!!**

Growing toooo fast!!

My baby is now 8 months and will turn 9 months in 2wks. Apparently crawling is beneath her because she is jumping right into walking!! I'm not ready for her to start walking. I keep thinking just a month ago she was 2 months or i keep playing in my head that she's just a newborn!! Which i know she is not but still!

But she has started standing up by herself and puffing her cheeks with excitement when she does. She has started shouting "dad..dada"."mama...mom" to get our attention. She watchs an educational YouTube channel that helps with spanish and we swear she said "hola" once. She throws us a look when shes irritated and pushes us away when she wants to stand up by herself. Ms.independent !

Shes growing way too fast.

Am I wrong for skipping my sister’s engagement dinner and putting my fiancé first after my family insulted him?

Today is my sister’s (let’s call her Sister 5) dinner to introduce our family to her fiancé’s family. Our side of the family consists of my parents and my five siblings.

Just recently, my mother went to the hospital due to an anxiety attack. In our family group chat, we were talking as usual, and Sister 5 stated that we need to make sure our mom doesn't experience any more stress. Being the eldest child and having the first and only grandbaby, I know my mom worries about us constantly. I decided to send a funny little meme and replied that I'd try my best.

Another sister (Sister 3) quickly messaged, "Yeah, definitely you." I assumed she was just going along with the joke and asked, "What do you mean?" I instantly regretted it.

sister 3 (Sister 3, who is 28F while I am 30F) decided to completely slice and dice my fiancé. She stated that he's not good enough for me or my daughter. She asked why he drives my car around, claimed he can't take care of us, and said he's broke and we have money issues. I messaged back, defending him and saying another guy must have upset her for her to be saying such hateful things about my fiancé and the father of my child. Sister 5 stepped in swiftly, stating that this wasn't the time or place for these texts and that we both needed to stop. But no one came to my defense. No one told her to stop talking about my fiancé like that.

For context, I currently do not work. My fiancé pays for all of our bills. The AC in his car currently does not work, and since it is 100+ degrees outside, he drives my car to work until we save enough to fix his.

As a side note, it has been an ongoing issue that my family dislikes my fiancé due to a doomed proposal he planned for me in the past. They still feel a certain way about it, and now he is under a microscope for everything. They constantly nitpick him: Oh, he doesn't know about cars? He's so lame. Why doesn't his place have curtains? Hasn't he lived there for five years? Why does he drive your car? Why do you spend more time with his niece and nephew than with us?

Their hypocrisy is exhausting. My father drives my mother’s car when his breaks down. Sister 5 drives an hour from our parents' house up north, stays at her fiancé's place, and they constantly drive each other's cars. I don't nitpick them. I don't ask Sister 5 why it took three years for her fiancé to propose, or why he isn't driving all the way out to get her. I don't say anything because it's none of my business.

After the group chat incident, I stated that if that's how everyone feels, I don't need to keep talking in the chat, and they can just stop by if they need something. I wanted to keep what was said hidden from my fiancé to spare his feelings. When he saw I was crying, I verbally explained a watered-down version of what happened, but later that night while I was asleep, he read the messages.

The next day, he explained he was very upset and did not want to attend the dinner tonight. I completely understand, especially since Sister 3 lives with my parents and will be there. Coincidentally, my fiancé's uncle recently passed away. (I know it sounds horrible, but he wasn't a good man anyway). I used this as an excuse and texted my family that we couldn't attend the dinner because his side of the family needed us. Truthfully, I don't feel comfortable going anyway because of the text messages.

My mom texted me separately, asking why I couldn't just come over for an hour. I explained that the funeral events are far away. She replied, "Let me not respond to that because you're not going to like what I have to say." In the same group chat earlier, she had told me I needed to come home and leave my fiancé. I tried to cut her some slack because her own mother is currently at death's door, but I responded that no, I would not be leaving him unless they plan to pay all my bills like he does.

That ended the conversation, but it just proved to me that they all talk behind my back, acting like he is using me. I have a 401k that I cashed out when I quit working to use as our nest egg, and unfortunately, my family knows about it because the check was mailed to their house. They think he is after my money, even though he pays for everything with his own income.

I'm at a crossroads. I don't want to lose my relationship with my sisters or my parents, but they are making it incredibly hard. They need to remember it's not just me anymore; it's me, my fiancé, and our baby girl. My fiancé said he doesn't want our baby around Sister 3 because of what she said. He pointed out that our daughter is getting older, and he worries Sister 3 will eventually say hateful things about him in front of her. He's absolutely right. Why does my family make me feel like I'm the bad guy here? Am I doing the right thing by putting my fiancé first?

**edited: I wanted to also say I will be having a conversation with all my family about it but I didn't want to do it on the day of my sisters dinner**

Feeling used aggressively

I never thought In my life I'd have to pick up another person's slack. I'm 30f married to my husband 36m. And we have a beautiful baby girl 8 months old.

My husband has a very lazy a** brother who is 41 with a wife 40 and 2 kids of their own. These children one being 20 years old with what I think is mental delays? Or so they think. And then their daughter 15 yrs old.

Now when I first meet them 2 years ago I'd never thought how much money my husband had to put into them. Not only including bringing the children over during holidays, summer vacation. But also when the lazy brother doesn't have work and decides to ask for money. Now that we have a baby he continues to ask for money.

Unfortunately my husbands mother also gives money to them as well. Stating "i don't care what anyone says I'm going to help my son." Now my husband and i are okay with money right now to give money here and there. But now with a baby I feel like telling them everytime you take money from us you are taking from my child. But my husband states that he truly is trying to help his niece and nephew in which we argue because how do we know that's where it's going ?

His brother and sister in law also smoke weed and buys heaps of it to resell among their family. I've told my husband that his family is no longer his main priority and not even his nephew and niece. That now it is the baby and I that are the main priority. He says he understands but feels for his brother because he's soo massively unhealthy that he can fall over at any time.

Deep down I honestly do not care if he dies. I don't understand why my husband doesn't seem how they use him and how his brother plays the "victim" card so well to my husband and his mother. For me I'd never do that to my parents. Even at one point when my husband and i needed money I just worked harder. I never went so low as too ask for 100s of dollars.

Told my husband if I ever made alot of money somehow and I moved us out of state would he go. Because i want a more victorian house. And he said yes. in reality it's to leave his side of the family behind.

But I'm just venting to vent. It just sucks I live a life like this and hoping I save enough to move away.

My (62F) MIL is driving me (30F) crazy, and my husband (36M) won't stand up to her. Should I confront her myself?

I (30F) live in a condo with my husband (36M), our 7-month-old baby girl, and my mother-in-law (62F). Honestly, it has been absolute hell.

It all started when my baby was 2 months old. My MIL didn't have her weed, became incredibly cranky, and decided to verbally abuse my husband right in front of me and my newborn. I never forgot what she said or what she did that day, and I lost all respect for her. I talked to my husband about kicking her out, and she left for two weeks. But she came back, and since then, I’ve just been giving her a taste of her own medicine.

I stopped catering to her "rights" and stopped letting her speak to us however she wants. I stopped including her in our dinners. I stopped keeping quiet when she tried to make me or my husband look stupid. She used to tell me about how my husband's ex hated her and would ignore her, or how her oldest son's wife didn't like her because she "got between them." I used to think those women were the villains, but now I know I was totally wrong. She is the common denominator, and she is so two-faced.

Fast forward to now: my baby is 7 months old, and my MIL has an opinion on every single thing we do. She thinks I cuddle my baby too much and claims that's why she cries. Recently, she criticized me for buying a baby walker before a jumper. She always starts with, "Sorry to break it to you..." just to make you feel dumb. I couldn't take her repeating this over and over, so I finally snapped and said, "Well, I highly doubt I've got it backwards; my mother didn't do it like that."

That’s all I said, but then she went and told every single person who would listen about the walker and the jumper. She told my mom, her old friend, and her firstborn son. I know this for a fact because her old friend of 30+ years (a pothead just like her) came over recently to pick up some baby items I was giving her for free—including the jumper. Out of nowhere, her busted self throws her arms up and says, "I mean, who buys the jumper first before the walker?" There was no way she could have known about that unless my MIL was gossiping. It caught me so off guard I couldn't even snap back.

Then there is the financial hypocrisy. She gets about $2K a month from her late husband's social security, plus $300 a month in EBT. Where it all goes, I have no idea. She spends money like water slipping through her fingers. She gets incredibly butt-hurt when my husband and I buy ourselves something to eat, yet she will constantly "sneak out" to buy takeout only for herself.

We are currently struggling slightly with our finances. When my husband asked if she could help with groceries when his nephew (20M) and niece (14F) come over, she refused, saying, "I ain't wasting my money on them, they have parents" (who are also deadbeats, by the way). Meanwhile, she constantly drops hints wanting me to drive her to her doctor's appointments—which are literally right down the street—even though we let her use her son's extra car! I finally told her she or her son can just drive down the street themselves.

I know she doesn't like me, but honestly, nobody likes her. My SIL can't stand her (a whole other story). Her grandkids don't speak to her, and she hates that they call us instead of her. She even defends her deadbeat son while getting mad at her granddaughter for treating him "poorly." She always wears this perfect mask, acting like her late husband "sent me to her," but if I had known I'd have this type of woman in my life, I never would have married my husband or had a child.

When I try to vent to my husband about this, he instantly goes on the defensive and says, "What do you want me to do?" He knows exactly how his mother is. The one thing we do agree on is that her funky old ass is staying behind in this condo when we move out (hopefully in a year or so).

Would it be wrong of me to just sit down and tell her exactly how it is? I’ve tried letting my husband do it, but I think he's too chicken-shit because "she gets angry." He feels bad for her because his father is dead and she has no one else. But honestly, I do not care how she reacts. All this pussyfooting around makes me so mad. I cut off my own parents once when they acted like fools and only allowed them back when they settled down. I’d do the same to her in a heartbeat. if I just confronted her myself?

My toxic, hypocritical MIL lives with us and constantly criticizes my parenting, gossips about me, and acts selfishly with her money while we struggle. My husband is too scared of her anger to confront her. If I bypass him and finally put her in her place?

MIL "slander"

I'm 30f and my husband 36m with our baby girl who is 7 months old.

My husband mother 62 lives with us in our condo and it's just hell. It all started when I had my baby. She was 2 months when my MIL decided to verbally abuse my husband in front of me and my baby. Not only that, but since she didn't have her weed, she became cranky and would say and do small things. I never forgot what she said and did.

After that, I lost total respect from her. I talked to my husband about her leaving and basically being kicked out. She left for 2 weeks and came back, and I just did what I thought was best.

I gave her the same medicine. I stopped allowing her "idea" of rights and allowing her to speak them. I stopped including her in our dinners. I stopped keeping quiet when she tried to make it seem I was stupid or my husband. She used to tell me my husbands past and how his ex hated her and would just ignore her..... or her first borns wife didn't like her because the wife felt that she getting inbetween her and the son she's married life........I used to think they were the villians... but now I know I was totally wrong... she is so two faced.

Now here we are fast forward my baby is now 7 months and she has an opinion on every single thing we do. She thinks I cuddle my baby too much that's why she cries too much. She thinks I shouldn't have bought a damn baby walker but instead a jumper first- now keep me in this her starting words "sorry to break it to you ". Just that statement makes you feel so dumb.

I couldn't take it anymore because she repeats...repeats the same statement different days and I snapped at her by saying "well i highly doubt I've got it backwards my mother didn't do it like that." Thatd all I said....now she's telling every single person that will listen about how we bought the walker before the jumper. She told my mother...she told her old friend..she's told her first born son..

Now what's got me heated is now she has other people commenting now to me. Just recently her old friend of 30 plus years came over. A pot heads like herself . She came over to gather the baby items i was giving to her for free...and the jumper was include..tell me why her busted self turns to me throwing her arms up stating" i mean who buys the jumper first before the walker".....there was no way of her knowing about that...unless someone told her... instead of opening up my mouth and snapping back but i couldnt because that comment caught me off guard.

She gets money from her passed husbands social security once a month about 2k. Where it all goes idk. She spends it like water slipping through her fingers. And she has ebt card that is 300 a month. And I tell you this because she gets ass hurt when my husband and I buy something for us to eat but yet will turn around "sneak out" and buy something only for herself to eat. She's a very selfish ,two faced bitch that thinking now if I'd known I'd have this type of woman in my life I would never have married my husband and had a child. But of course she had this prefect mask on her face and would proclaim that her passed husband sent me to her.

Now I know she doesn't like me...but yet my sister in law also doesn't like her and I understand why now.. (but that's a whole another story). Or why her grand kids don't speak to her and I know she hates when they call us instead of her. Her other grand daughter also catches her attuide because she believes that her grand daughter treats her son poorly....because her son is a worthless man who doesnt take care of his family and tries to down play that in why her grand daughter is mad.... like there's sooo much I can say but I'm just venting on my part.

And when I try to tell my husband he instantly goes into defensive mode. "What do you want me to do ?" Which makes sense I dont have clear cut evidence but he knows how his mother is. but there is one thing we agree on her funky old ass is staying behind in the condo when we move out. Which i hope is in another year or so..

So there it is.. my MIL slander.

[90s/2000s Chapter Book] Girl discovers her older neighbor is her secret grandmother after seeing photos of her dead military father. Girl does cartwheels to prove she is her dead son's daughter.

I read this as a physical chapter book, likely in the 2000s, though the setting may have been the 1990s. It was a middle-grade or young adult fiction book.

The Characters & Plot:

The Family: The main character is a young girl who lives with her single mother.

The Mystery: The girl desperately wants to know about her dad, but her mom just tells her that he died. The girl decides to do her own investigating.

The Neighbor: There is an older woman who lives next door, i think, that the girl gets very close to.

The Twist:

While hanging out with the older neighbor, the girl sees pictures of a young man in a military uniform. She eventually figures out that the young man in the photos is her dead father, which means the neighbor is actually her real paternal grandmother. Her father had gone into the military and never came back.

The Climax & Ending:

Towards the end of the book, the girl's mother wants to move away with her new boyfriend. In a really specific, emotional scene, the girl runs back to the older woman/neighbor and starts doing cartwheels to show that she is just like her passed son, hoping the woman will claim her. In the end, the mother leaves her behind to live permanently with the older woman (her grandmother).

Does anyone know what this is? It has been driving me crazy!

Audience was for teens, main character finds out about her fathers being in the military

Hello

If yall can help me find this book? I remember checking it out from my school library back in the early 2000s.

The book summary from what I remember:

A young girl lives with her single mother. The mother goes out alot. They move into a new town? Where the next door neighbor is some older woman. Come to find out the little girl is related to that older woman because that is her real father's mom. The girl finds out her father served in the military. The mother of the little girl finds another guy and decides she wants to move with her new man. The girl and her now new found grandmother actually find out they are related and she ends up staying with her. I think the main character has red hair or something like that.

No period, extra worried

So, I'm very stressed.. I'm thinking maybe a tiny bit over the top worried. But I'm 30f, 5ft1, 190 in pounds. Had a baby 7 months ago. Gained weight.. I mean a lot. After birth, I was 160, and now here I am.

But I'm now 2 weeks and 3 days past when i should have had my period. I keep feeling like it'll come along, but this is slightly the second time this has happened. It was actually back 5 years ago when I was also super overweight. I was 1 week late and had dark substances coming out, and then I started.

I'm just worried it could be something more.

But also side fact : I left a very hostile work environment that had me stressed 24/7. Having to depend on my husband and feeling extra stressed that he quit as well from his work place after telling me it was okay for me too. And that he'll be paying for all the bills. (Which he is doing. Even being out of work. Doing door dash etc.) I feel like I'm like over stressed about money, being pregnant (took 3 tests all came out negative), feeling so ugly, stressed about money, my baby non stop crying for me eveerytime I try to walk away and being told I spoil her so much and need to find a way to get her out of that.

Ugh and I know I need to go to the hospital atleast to get a blood drawn etc. Just wanted to know if anyone else is going through samething.

Health history : found HPV - started clearing up, had multiple scanning of uterus, xray etc last 2yrs for cancer but nothing abnormal. ( dr thought i had cancer in my ovaries due to family history and heavy bleeding).

Application question

Hello,

From texas. I am 30f and my baby is 6 months f. Unmarried. A partner that gives here and there.

I am currently in the works of trying to get medicad and possibly EBT. I had to quit my job of 6yrs because unfortunately I no longer have child care. My job issue is only for the moment as I try to seek remote work or go to become a door dasher. I am trying to do the application the best I can.

But I don't want to be denied or asked further questions when I'm in need for food and insurance for my child. (I have also done a wic application). But my question is do I need to my child's father to the income part of the application? He hasn't really taken care of our child. I do still live in the same apartment. And switch between my parents and his home for unfortunate reasons.

So now would it be okay to not add his income ?? Like I said he gives here and there but not to the amount needed and I know if I add him I will not get the services needed. Also im not in his taxes as dependent either. And our child is in my taxes.

In the application it asks if he lived with us. And then I noticed somewhere else that anyone living under the roof needs to be added.
