Help with value of Type-S

A friend’s dad is needing to sell his Type-S and needs some help setting a asking price. Below is the info I have.

2004 RSX Type-S in Arctic Blue
104,000 miles
Interior condition 8/10
Exterior paint (other than noted below) 8/10

- Issues/Cons - front bumper love marks and possible damage. Possible passenger quarter panel love marks. Rear bumper has love marks as well, but no damage noted. Pin stripe down the sides. Wheels are aftermarket, not OEM and tires are aging according to the date code.

- Pro’s - Older guy owned, so probably never driven hard. Most maintenance records/receipts. Lived first 20ish years in Chicago where it was garaged most of the time and rarely driven in the winter. Spent the last 10 years in Denver, garaged and not driven much in the winter.

These are the only photos he provided me.

Recommendations- Looking For Theft Deterrent Options For RSX

We haven’t pulled the trigger on it yet, but we might have an option to buy a 04 Type-S. The car would possibly be for my son as a first car. He wants a manual, something he can tinker with but yet is reliable. And the price we’d be able to get this car at, is well below the budget we’ve set for him.

The catch is that it seems the RSX is a fairly highly desirable car for theft (at least around me). And unfortunately the car will be parked outside (no room in the garage). We do live in an area where our crime rate is lower, but that doesn’t really mean anything when he goes to a mall or something.

So if we were to pull the trigger on the car, what are some recommendations for theft deterrent? I’ve seen the kill switch option from JDI. Or the old school car alarms with starter disable. What other options are there?

IK Foam Sprayer Alternatives?

Are there any pump foam sprayers other than IK that are worth a damn? Or even inexpensive battery ones? I’m not a pro, just a weekend warrior and would like to have a couple sprayers available stuff like wheel/tire cleaner, a pre-soak for bugs and stuff, etc. Since I’m not a pro, looking for a little more economical option other than IK’s.

Sunrise/Sunset Light Switch Installation

I’m wanting to install an automatic sunrise/sunset light switch for my outdoor lights. The lights are controlled by 2 switch’s (one by the front door and the other in the garage). I did purchase one and tried to install it based on the instructions but I could never get it to work. I returned it assuming it was defective. I got a replacement (different brand), followed instructions and again, it didn’t work and I returned it assuming well. Both these were bought on Amazon so I figured they were just junk so I went to Lowe’s and got a different one. Same results…. So, I doubt all 3 devices are defective and it’s an installation issue, even though I’m following the directions in the packages. I did see something somewhere that maybe these auto-switches I’m getting won’t work with 2 light switches and need to be run off just 1 single switch. Can someone please help me? Will these auto-switches work in my scenario or do I need something different? Or is there something I should be looking at during the installation that maybe I’m missing.

B-Day Gift Ideas - Experiences, not physical gifts

This year for our birthdays my wife and I are doing experiences, not physical gift items. I’m looking for some ideas in or around Denver (or South Denver). We’ve done cooking classes, art classes, pickleball lesson to name a few. Looking for some recommendations or other ideas.

Harshness As Volume Increases

I have a Sony DSX-GS80 (high power head unit, rated 45 x 4). I am running a pair of Alpine Type-S 6 1/2" component sent off of the front channel, and nothing on the rear. I notice when the volume starts to get to about 35 click (out of 50), the sound tends to get harsher sounding. Between 20-35 is sounds fairly balanced and smooth. I was wondering if as the head unit is maybe running out of power at higher volumes, will it start to sound harsher? Or is this more the speakers becoming harsher the louder they play? It's installed in a Honda S2000 so I do need to play it a bit louder to compensate with road/wind noise when the top is down and I notice that it tends to sound a bit harsher when the volume increases.

Any HVAC techs?

Wondering if there are any HVAC techs in here that can give me a price. I had a company come out because our unit for our up stairs is aging (approx 18yrs) and was making a noise and having a hard time starting up. They came out yesterday and put in a 2 pole 35 + 5 capacitor. Still had issues today and they came out this afternoon and installed a super boost hard start capacitor. There was also mention of my compressor fan possibly going bad. Just have a feeling like they’re trying to shotgun fix it and maybe take me for a bit of a ride. So if any HVAC techs are in here, and can give me a rough price/quote on what you would charge, that would help set my mind at ease.

Unit is a Goodman GSC130361DE.

A/C service

Looking for a reliable, honest and hopefully affordable A/C company. The company I used to use is now high pressure sales at ridiculous rates.

Need motivation and workout plans/ideas

I’ve been working out off and on at home for about 9 months, but nothing consistent. Partly because of kids sports functions, travel schedules, work priorities, etc. I’ll setup a workout plan, but get bored with it easily and quickly. Yeah, I know…. Lame excuses. But it is actually true.

Anyway, I’m looking for app suggestions, YouTube videos, websites that I can use to help motivate and organize my workouts to help me from getting bored with them. I have dumbbells (5-50lbs), bench, resistance bands, treadmills and bike. Both the treadmill and bike are Nordictrack and I have a iFit subscription, but I find the content of it not super interesting and motivating and some of the trainers are just plain annoying.

New Tire Time

It’s time for some new shoes. I have a 01 AP1 but have AP2 v1 wheels. Living in Colorado, I’m looking for something that will handle different types of weather. Not necessarily snow, but rain and cooler temperatures. On occasion I’ve been on a drive in the mountains and weather rolled in and started raining and the temps dropped to the 40’s. I was able to drive home, but not confidently or fun. So looking for something that will give me a bit of confidence if (or should say when) I get caught in inclement weather. I don’t track the car, do some occasional spirited driving, but nothing crazy. Not lowered at the moment. Thanks for the suggestions.
