Whats currently the most stable kernel version for ROCm and which specific ROCm version should I run?

My current linux mint kernel is 7.0+ and its giving me grief trying to get ROCm 7.14 to run since i've heard good things about that version supporting RDNa 4

Optimal r9700 ai pro range to powerlimit, undervolting and adjust fan curve within?

I basically hear everywhere online its wise to adjust those three things since its so loud and there is minimal performance loss but what are exactly the optimal ranges of those three things to experiment within without accidentally damaging my card?

Tips and tricks for using the r9700 ai pro in comfyui?

Are there any specific things I should be aware of? I'm on linux mint cinnamon if it matters and it's nothing fancy like dual gpus, just that one card. Also planning on using my integrated cpu graphics so all the vram can be used for loading model weights and stuff.

Games with narrator telling an epic story like Call of Juarez Gunslinger

I really liked the fact that the main character told their story and that you got to play it with all the funny fourth wall breaks and inconsistenties that came along with him telling it by making bullshit up on the spot and things just magically moving / appearing to make the story make sense since he was half drunk while telling the story. It wasn't just pure comedy though and had some very emotional scenes but I don't mind if the entire game youre recommending is comedy.

Recommend me books with an overwhelming, godlike threats that doesn't suddenly get nerfed due to plot

I'm looking for books where the main antagonist (or antagonistic force) feels genuinely impossible to overcome.

A good example of what I mean is Steelheart, the book that got me into reading in the first place (even though the ending reveal sucked lol) . Early on within the first 20 pages of the book he's introduced with an overwhelming display of power, and for a long time he feels less like a person you can fight and more like a natural disaster or a god that you simply avoid. Every encounter with him carries real tension because it feels like one mistake means instant death.

What I'm NOT looking for is something like how The Boys (TV show version) handled the main threat where Homelander starts off terrifying but eventually the main cast constantly crosses him without ANYTHING happening.

I want stories where the threat remains competent, intimidating, and consistent throughout. If the heroes do manage to win, I want it to feel earned through clever planning, sacrifice, or exploiting a believable weakness and not because the villain suddenly becomes incompetent or gets nerfed.

Im currently reading Worm by Wildbow and I'm at the Leviathan blood bath part early on and god damn this shit is like crack but I don't want to just stick to one work.

Any genre is welcome as long as there is a ton of action. The main thing I'm chasing is that feeling of "How the fuck are they ever supposed to beat this?"

What's the minimum context tokens youre comfortable with?

Honesty I used to slug it out with the janitorai LLM trying to fit 200-300 messages worth of story in 6k effective tokens (it has 9k tokens but 3k are usually reserved for character descriptions) those were dark times but I've gone local and ever since then I can't imagine doing anything with less than 40k context.

I hate cringey incel edits of comics (original in the second slide)

Every time I see one of these low-effort "incel" edits where they just swap out the dialogue to push their bitter narrative, it makes me cringe so hard. Like bro, just make your own comic at that point. Also hate it when they don't even bother to properly make the text fit into the speech bubble.

I've seen this edit floating around for like 3 years every time the topic of them getting approached comes up, like they cant conceptualize a girl ACTUALLY wanting to bond with them and not just her wanting to recruit another orbiter to get attention from or free favors from even if she has a boyfriend.

8 gb vram is now viable for high quality roleplay thanks to ternary being able to make 27b models only weigh 5~gb while still performing in the leagues of Qwen 27b / gemma 31b

A couple of months ago a company called PrismML backed by google created an 8b model called Bonsai that was made with ternary that competed with fp16 precision 8b models which weigh 16~gb while the ternary version only weighed 1~gb, today they dropped the 27b version of it which weighs 5~gb while showcasing benchmarks; PrismML — Announcing Bonsai 27B: The First 27B-Class Model to Run on a Phone

Even the guys at r/LocalLLaMA are losing their shit over the fact that it competes with fp16 quality which would originally weigh a whopping 54gb worth of vram at 27b while the ternary only weighs 5~gb

I used to pray for times like this

So what's the consensus on 1bit models? Is it still a pipe dream?

With Bonsai 8b at 1bit being 1gb~ size while being functional and the 27b being dropped also at 1bit while only being 5~gb, is the future for 1bit models looking bright? What will their primary use be?

Ultimate Spellbook is such an underrated game mode and should be brought back more often

It's literally the ultimate rotating game mode with a perfect balance of for fun players & try hard sweats, the champ and ult combos are endless and the matches are all unique and go by so fast. Holy shit I miss it so god damn much, I don't think I can handle getting another urf / brawl game mode with the upcoming event. Might genuinely crash out.

I hate that people have to beat the ozempic allegations after weight loss nowadays

Like holy shit it seems like everybody became a schizo conspiracy theoriest after that drug cameee out. Any and all weightloss is just written off as ozempic use. It feels like shit to have all your hard work made out to be nothing.

The standard free ChatGPT LLM you get after a few messages HAS to be some sub-20b model with online search enabled, no other way to explain how awful it is

Recently bought into the local LLM hype by buying a 32gb vram gpu and holy shit, gemma 4 31b at 5bits blows the standard ChatGPT model out of the fucking water. I just can't unsee the quality difference now that I've experienced it. Does Openai just cut costs by serving their customers this slop since most people just use it as a search engine?

I hate reddit's double standard of allowing hateful and racist subreddits up as long as they are women oriented

Mods are even defending this selfhating coon, if any other subreddit pulled off even a quarter of this shit they would have been nuked off the website.

How are Americels struggling when 40.3% of the competition is obese?

According to the CDC 40.3% is obese, 31.7% is just over weight ( you read that right there are MORE obese Americans than just overweight ones) so 72% of your competition is non existent. The average height is also 5 foot 9, how are you people struggling??? By being healthy weight and unironically showermaxxxing you're already in the top 28 percentile of men. At least people living in the Netherlands have an excuse as it's basically Chad Central with a very healthy population and 6 foot average height. Source for the numbers: https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/obesity-overweight.htm
