Finished Saros, or 120 Days of Yellow, and the more I think about it, the more I hold it in similar regard with Returnal.
Gameplay wise it's MUCH more fun than Returnal since Saros gives you so many options to go on the offensive outside of just bobing and weaving across neon balls. I understand that dodging is fun but my god does punching bullets to absorb or knock it back at foes releases the cool brain chemicals. I know you can play super aggressively in Returnal as well but Saros encourages it like how Sekiro encourages parrying over dodging.
As a Gundam fan, I did enjoy how the Echelon 4 crew was at each others' throats because the situation they're in is actively stressful with a not-so-subtle yet necessary allegory for Captitalist supervisors in Primary. As much as I love ensemble casts who are cordial and get along well, I also dig when they're fucking assholes (for good reason), some of their recordings feeling too real as well. But goodness I kinda prefer the solitude and atmosphere of Returnal. Saros has AMAZING environments especially at the end but Returnal and how it's set up just feels like it couldn't be anything else but a game, like Metal Gear or Nier Automata (part of the reason I've been avoiding the anime for the latter). I'm not gonna pretend I have the best literacy but the mystery behind Selene's past was more intriguing than Arjun's, though much like how refreshing it was to play as an older woman in Returnal, I did enjoy finding out how despicable Arjun actually is.
That said, while I wouldn't put these two games in my top 10 quite yet, these games are wonderful and are unique entries into Playstation's library.
