Kitchen Floor Replacement Feedback

Update: They’re keeping the current floor! Thanks for your input - I was in favor of not making a change.

My parents are redoing their home and one change will be the kitchen flooring. My mom sent me two flooring options that she isn’t quite sure about.

Neither of the options seem quite right to me either, so I wanted to asked for feedback. What color or style of vinyl would you suggest?

Picture one shows the current options. The rest of the pictures show the kitchen and surrounded area. Thanks for your time!

Tomatillo Plant??

Does anyone have a tomatillo plant they are willing to part with? I have a very robust tomatillo that was supposed to be a pimento pepper.

Tomatillos need a second tomatillo nearby to pollinate. I’ve tried nearby garden centers and started seeds, but I don’t think they’ll be flowering in time.

Southern blight, please help

I lost my second tomato plant to southern blight today. I know that preventative measures are best, to remove the plant and surrounding soil, and that solarization are best practice.

Is there a product that will help my other plants avoid this fungus? I read elsewhere that someone blow torched the affected area.

I’m open to any suggestions and desperate for my entire garden to not be wiped out.

Living room layout

I’m struggling to determine what layout works best for our living room.

I’ve considered ideas like mounting a tv above the fireplace, replacing the sofa with a sectional or 2 sofas to form a right angle, dividing the area with one large rug and a runner, etc.

We watch tv in a different room that may need to be converted to an office, so I’m a little partial to adding a tv to this room (the small tv on the side table doesn’t stay in this room).

The only aspect I’d like to keep is the large cabinet next to the front door since we use it as a hall tree/ shoe storage.
What layout flows best for this space?

Dimensions: 18 x 13’

Input is greatly appreciated.

Bush Early Girl Gone too Soon

My Bush Early Girl started wilting and today I noticed this terrifying fungus looking horror. I pulled her out, bagged her, dug up the surrounding dirt and put it all in the trash.

Some of the tomatoes were going to be gorgeous, but others had BER. One had an odd appendage. What caused the appendage and what killed her?

Cucumber leaves mottled

Google image search isn’t being super helpful determining if this is a magnesium deficiency, disease, or other. What do you think is going on with my cucumber leaves?

Thanks for feedback!

Front bed suggestions

Zone 8B, SC

We moved into a house with the shrubs/ small trees already added. I’ve added drift rose and lantana.

I know there’s a bit of gardenia and what may be Chinese fringe. What specific type of Chinese fringe are these?

I love the gardenia and accept the other shrubs because they’re established. I’d like to improve the look of our front yard, but struggle with layout not looking cluttered or thoughtless. Any suggestions to improve our front bed?

Edit: A bit more information - the shrubs/ bushes/ gardenia were planted 7-8 years ago.

I spent this winter removing the landscaping plastic that the previous owners put down years ago. The plants seem happier this year, but the drift rose is still not thriving. I plant to move both plants to a sunnier spot.

The area receives at least 6 hours of full sun, but the smaller plants are shaded by the Chinese fringe.

Current list of plants: one gardenia shaped as tree, 4 Chinese fringe, two small gardenia bushes, 3 lantana, 2 drift roses

Cucumber leaves wilting?

One of my cucumber plants has some leaves wilting, but not all. It started yesterday and they haven’t perked up.

I don’t believe it’s a watering issue because I use ollas and there are 3 other plants nearby without any issues.

I did the bacterial wilt water test by cutting 2 small stems near the bottom of the cucumber and seeing if any ooze came out in water after 15 minutes. There wasn’t any cloudiness or residue.

I did use Captain Jack’s Super Soap on all plants in the garden two days ago, but I can’t think of anything I’ve done differently. What do you think this could be? Any advice greatly appreciated!

Red eggs on petunia, zone 8B

I’m propagating petunias and something has laid eggs on one of the leaves

The petunias have been in water for some time and the leaf where the eggs are is damp and may have been submerged.

Location: zone 8B South Carolina

What could it be?

Zone 8B, South Carolina

Google image search has identified this as zinnia, hairy wood mint, and all other sorts of plants. It’s sprung up all over my garden. Any idea?

Light Brown Chocolate Frosting

Hello! My mom requested a sheet cake with yellow cake and chocolate frosting for her birthday.

She especially wants a chocolate frosting that looks lighter brown than what I’ve typically seen as shown in the pictures. What makes this frosting different from the typical dark brown chocolate frosting? Less cocoa?

Any recipe leads would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
