Hey everyone, I’m a Filipino EE/ECE student set to graduate from my master's degree at a Taiwanese university next month, specializing in mixed-signal IC design (mainly DLLs, PLLs). I’m applying for entry-level analog/mixed-signal IC design roles. I’m currently based in Taiwan, but I’m fully open to relocating anywhere in Asia (Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, etc.) or Europe if the opportunity arises, since I prefer to work on-site. I haven't been able to land a single interview call so far. At first, I figured my lack of Mandarin was the main issue for local Taiwanese roles, so I started applying to more English-speaking countries. However, I haven't had any luck on that side either, so I'm starting to think my resume is the real problem. I’d love feedback on my entire resume, but especially on my projects and research bullet points. I want to make sure my tape-out and lab measurement experience actually stand out to hiring managers.

milestone at what cost

I dont know how to start this but the last few years have been really overwhelming but achieving a milestone today makes it feel worth it. After passing my boards exams in 2023, I maanaged to get a job where I worked only for a few months since I had the opportunity to pursue my masters in a different country. My girlfriend at the time was supportive, and I will forever be grateful for it, because it has been a dream of mine to pursue higher studies, however, as most LDRs go, we drifted apart from each other. I thought everything was fine until it was not. She wanted to break up and I was caught up in studies. I didn't want to attempt to fix something that was already broken. It kind of my fault so I respected her decision and continued on with my life. Little over a year to today, I had my oral defense presentation. Thankfully, it went well. Just a few minor revisions and i'll be able to graduate in a month or so. Two years of being away and seeing the 'fruits' feels nice. I still miss her though. But as they say, it is what it is, and we continue living our lives. Halfway through a half bottle of whiskey so pardon my grammar if any.

Job hunting as a foreigner

I recently graduated with a Master's degree from a university in Taiwan, where I focused on mixed-signal IC design. I went through the whole IC design process, from pre-layout simulations, layout, and post-layout simulations to tapeout and measurement. However, applying as a foreigner in Taiwan seems quite hard, especially with my limited Mandarin communication skills. I am open to working in any country, but would like to stay in Taiwan as much as possible, which I understand is unlikely unless I magically learn Mandarin ASAP. I do intend to learn it if I get a job here, but yeah.
Are there any suggestions on how I can proceed with my career? Any countries or companies I should look into?

Baggage for pal intl to domestic

I'm having a flight later where I'll be taking pal from TPE to MNL and then another domestic flight. Since both flights are PAL, will I need to check in my luggage again at MNL??? Or will it be directed to my destination?? I've never been to MNL airport before and I'm not sure how stuff works there. Thank you the help!

25 [M4F] Davao pips?

Heading back to Davao in a few weeks! It’s been a minute since I’ve been home, and since most of my college friends have moved to different cities, I’m looking for some new people to hang out with. Down for food trips, exploring, or just chilling. Send me a dm and let’s see if we vibe.

sharing a milestone cuz why not

I don't even know why I'm typing this, but here goes. You don't have to read all of this, but if you do, thank you. I moved to a different country to pursue my studies. Moving around isn't anything out of the ordinary for me, being biracial, I'm used to my parents being away or being away from them. I guess you could say I’ve grown to be independent. Anyway, the milestone is that I had my graduation ceremony today. It shouldn't feel important because I still have requirements to fulfill before I actually "graduate," but seeing everyone else's loved ones there for them today hit me a bit hard. Maybe I'm just being a bitch about it. And i know something might comment saying that its normal to feel this way. I know that. When I started this degree, I thought it would be my girlfriend at the time accompanying me to the ceremony. But ldr happened, and things didn't go well. It’s been about half a year since she broke up with me. I think I’ve moved on, but on days like today, I'm not entirely sure. But we keep moving forward, no matter what. The only way is up.

cebupac or pal from TPE to DVO?

Currently looking at tickets for my vacation at the end of next month. Has anyone had experience flying pal vs cebupac from tw to ph, or vice versa? I took Scoot when coming here since I had to detour through sg, so I don't have experience taking cebupac of pal for international flights. The price difference is not that big (around 1,700 PHP), since PAL includes an extra 3kg, it kinda offsets the price difference. Please share your insights on which is the better option. Thanks!

Been over 2 years since I started using this pencil and I'm almost done with my masters. Will probably look into a metal option next. 😎
