From a book I read a few years ago, it mentioned that there were "tanks" (that were probably just M113s lol) put near where I think was City Hall and maybe (not 100% sure on this one tho) the Brooklyn Bridge as well.
From what I remember from that book was that the mayor got pretty upset with the M113 at City Hall, so the National Guardsmen had to put the M113 elsewhere around the area.
