How does Steam Personal Calendar works FAQ

Questions and Answers:

  • [Q] Is there a minimum wishlist threshold to get into the calendar?
  • [A] No, there is no minimum wishlist threshold. There are cases of games with even 300 wishlists getting into the calendar.
  • [Q] How long before release does a game get into the personal calendar?
  • [A] It can appear on the main page 3 weeks before release, and it can appear on the expanded calendar page about 2 months before release, but the visibility from the expanded version is low.
  • [Q] Is getting into the calendar guaranteed?
  • [A] Getting into the expanded calendar is guaranteed, at least based on your existing wishlist base, but getting onto the main page is not guaranteed.
  • [Q] What does getting onto the main page depend on?
  • [A] Primarily two metrics: CTR and conversion rate into wishlists from clicks.
  • [Q] Are these metrics based on past data?
  • [A] Most likely no. Steam provides an initial sample for measurement and shows you to X number of people in the calendar. If your metrics are high, it continues to increase the sample size.
  • [Q] What should the metrics look like?
  • [A] Effective calendar performance has been observed with a CTR higher than 25% and a conversion rate into wishlists above 15%.
  • [Q] Does the calendar work for free games?
  • [A] Yes, it works.
  • [Q] Does the calendar work for EA (Early Access)?
  • [A] Yes, it works, and it will also work again after releasing into 1.0.
  • [Q] Can I change the game's release date if I am already in the calendar?
  • [A] Steam allows you to shift the release date once, and so far, this puts you back into the calendar again. Please do not exploit this, as bans for manipulation are possible.
  • [Q] How long does the calendar provide visibility after release?
  • [A] There is no exact answer to this question, but it is known for sure that the calendar currently covers games released over the last month. Your game can stay in it for a month.
  • [Q] Does the calendar conflict with other widgets like Popular Upcoming (PU), etc.?
  • [A] Nothing like that has been noticed; no conflicts have been found.
  • [Q] Is there a difference in conversion between regular wishlists and wishlists coming from the calendar?
  • [A] There is no such data. Presumably, there is no difference.
  • [Q] What happens to games that have low metrics during the preliminary calendar showings?
  • [A] Such games do not make it to the main page and do not receive additional visibility; the calendar will turn out to be ineffective for them.

A game where you play as a capybara and stream your life now has a Next Fest demo. Try the cozy Capybara Hot Tub!

Steam: Capybara Hot Tub
Release: Q3-Q4 2026

Living your best life... as a fluffy streamer capybara

Honestly, this is the level of chill I aspire to. In Capybara Hot Tub, you basically live in a Hollywood-style villa, hang out in Jacuzzis, and get famous just for being cute on stream.

The loop is simple: Stream, Get Famous, Secure the Bag and spend it all on aesthetic decor and stylish fits!

Is Steam’s Personal Calendar a Killer Feature for Indie Marketing?

Steam is testing a new beta feature for upcoming releases: a personal calendar.

One game with ~1,000 wishlists doubled them in just 2 days thanks to it.

What do you guys think about Steam’s new recommendation system?

Has anyone already noticed a boost from it?

THE DEEPEST CASTLE - Sergey Bobrov - retro-styled action slasher focused on fast, brutal melee combat inspired by 90s PC games

Wishlist on Steam - https://store.steampowered.com/app/4702000/THE_DEEPEST_CASTLE/

Trailer - https://youtu.be/IY789Mfs_cw

The Deepest Castle is a retro-inspired action slasher about a knight exploring a dark fortress ruled by necromancers.

The game focuses on fast, close-range melee combat: reading enemy movesets, raising your shield at the right moment, dodging deadly attacks, and landing precise counter-hits.

Each failed run sends the knight back to the beginning, but discovered weapons and artifacts remain unlocked. The fortress is filled with hidden rooms, rare gear, magic items, destructible objects, and dangerous undead warriors who have spent centuries mastering combat.

The goal is to capture the raw, crunchy feel of early 3D PC games from the 90s, but with tight, skill-based melee gameplay.

Features:

  • Retro 90s-inspired 3D visuals
  • Fast melee combat with shields, dodges, and counterattacks
  • Roguelite structure with persistent discoveries
  • Secret rooms, rare weapons, artifacts, and magic
  • Destructible objects and physics-driven debris
  • Custom C++ engine with CPU-based software rendering
