I'm working on an ultra-fast roguelite FPS where you make game-breaking builds while styling on enemies

If it looks interesting to you, the game is called Steel Judgment

Only 1k wishlists over 1+ year, is the problem the game or the marketing?

Hi everyone, I'm a solodev working on a roguelite FPS game, and as the title suggests, I've not managed to gather a lot of wishlists for the game over the course of 1.5 years and am looking for honest feedback.

Here are some things I've done to market the game:

- Regular update posts to Twitter & Youtube

- Next Fest (got ~500 wishlists only)

- Showcased the game at local indie conventions

- Occasional Reddit posts (to avoid spamming)

- Recently started dabbling in YouTube Shorts/TikTok

I'd just like to get some opinions on if this game is worth marketing at all or if it's a lost cause/there's no audience for it. It's ultimately a passion project so I'm completing it regardless of sales, but I'd like to know if I'm wasting my effort trying to market a project that already has no chance of commercial success and should just focus on developing it. Thanks!

EDIT: Thanks so much everyone for the feedback, it has been incredibly eye-opening for me. I think it's quite unanimous that the game's visuals are unsalvageable and I probably should have gotten more feedback before committing to this art style. I think what I'll do is forget about marketing and promotion, and just focus all my time on finishing the game up for myself and the few people that liked it.

Finally reaching the Risk of Rain 2 levels of chaos I was aiming for with my game

Is this a good intro for a boss fight?

This is the scene that plays before one of the boss fights of my roguelike FPS. Wanted to have something that felt menacing enough without lasting too long, since the player will see this everytime they encounter this boss on their run. Any feedback is appreciated.

The game is Steel Judgment if anyone is interested https://store.steampowered.com/app/3394690/Steel_Judgment/
