How do you force yourself to follow discipline and use productivity apps (like habit trackers)?

I'm struggling with discipline to do what I'm planing (I mean useful habits, like small morning training, study something etc).
I'm using my own habit tracker app, it's simple and do it's function good (I cannot promote it because of karma in sub). But what my main problem - It's very hard to be disciplined and follow to plan.
I have reminders, it helps but not completely solve problem.
Also maybe I"m trying to complete too much tasks to one day, idk, sometimes it's just hard to be productive.
Will appreciate if you share your experience if you can manage this.

Big update for Free water tracker app - try it and leave your feedback

Hi guys! About 10 month ago, I published my free Water Tracker app. I know, I know - there are a lot of similar apps out there. So what makes mine different? It’s actually free. No freemium model, no locked features.

If you’d like to support the app, you can leave a donation, but if not, that’s completely fine - all features are available for free.

In this update I added:

- watch app with complications

- widgets

- custom backgrounds (not all like default dark blue).

Also, since I was laid off and am currently looking for a new job, I want to try to monetize the app a little bit. No, I’m not going to add any restrictions; it will always remain free.

But here is what I want to try: the app already has a 'Support App' button, but I've never explicitly asked users for donations. Over all this time, out of more than a thousand users, 11 people have looked into this section and donated a total of $18.

I am incredibly grateful to these people. They really lifted my spirits and gave me faith that—if not with this app, then with another, more original and useful one—I will be able to make money.

Anyway, I was thinking: I haven't even really asked for donations. What if, once a month, I show a reminder screen asking users to buy me a cup of coffee, if they have the desire and ability to do so? If a user donates, this screen won't bother them for the next 6 months.

I think showing this screen once a month (it's not a hard paywall, the user can simply close it) doesn't seem too pushy or intrusive, right?

I'd be interested to know what you think about this.

Give it a try, and if you like it, I’d really appreciate a rating or a review. It helps keep me motivated to continue improving the app and adding new features like widgets and an Apple Watch app.

[Self-Promotion] A simple Habit app without annoying flow to create habit.

I’d like to share my small habit tracker app - HabitFlow.

AppStore link

I know the habit tracker niche is overcrowded, so I’m not going to pretend I built something revolutionary. My goal was much simpler: make a habit tracker that feels lightweight, fast, and not bloated with unnecessary steps.

That was the main frustration I had with a lot of habit apps I tried — too much friction just to create a habit and start tracking it. So I wanted to build something where you can open the app, create a habit in a few seconds, and move on with your day.

A few things I focused on:

  • lightweight app size — under 9 MB
  • no personal data collection
  • simple and fast habit creation
  • customizable home screen — you can keep it minimal or make it more detailed
  • weekly habit tracking, stats, and calendar view

So what problem it solves: provide easy and not overcomplicated way to create habits,

Better (why it beats named alternatives), Cost (pricing, IAP, App Store link).

The app has a free version, and the paid version is intentionally priced lower than most habit trackers:

  • $0.99 / month
  • $4.99 / year
  • $12.99 lifetime

Free version limits:

  • up to 4 active habits
  • stats screen locked

If you’ve tried a lot of habit trackers and got tired of apps that overcomplicate everything, maybe this one will be a better fit.

If you want to check it out, I’d really appreciate it. And if you have feedback — especially negative feedback — I’m happy to hear it. I’d rather know what feels weak than pretend everything is great.

the price of owning old sport bike

(on photo it’s not me, my gf).
I’m from Ukraine, so 2 years ago I bought an old Yamaha R1. I bought it for 6k$ (now in Ukraine prices even higher) and spent about 5k$ to make in good condition 🥲
Have you good experience, when your bike not sucks all your money for repairs and maintenance?

My first 1-star rating 🥲

Hi guys, I have a free app (Water tracker). It's absolutely free, small, no ads, no tracking info about user etc. Mostly I got 5 stars and some good review. Two reviews was critical for some bugs - I got 2 and 3 stars. But сonsidering I have around a thousand users from 2,500 total downloads, that seems not so bad.
But today I got 1 star rating from user Germany - no review, no info, just one star. So in Germany app's rating now 2.7.
Well, The question “why?” is rhetorical. People are people - even when you give them something for free, there will always be someone who is unhappy.

I don’t pressure users to leave a rating. The prompt to rate the app appears only once every two months.

My actual question is: how do you deal with reviews like this emotionally? You build something, offer it completely free, spend your own time on it, and positive feedback motivates you. But how do you stop one-star reviews like this from getting to you? I’m sure I’ll face the same thing with my other apps too.

Where do you guys find riding buddies?

(To avoid any confusion: the person in the photo isn’t me - it’s my wife.)
Just curious. Here in Kyiv, Ukraine, people usually ride with friends. And if you don’t have any friends who ride motorcycles, it’s pretty easy to find riding buddies. We have a lot of local motorcycle group chats where you can meet people and join group rides.
Kyiv isn’t a huge city, so everything feels fairly close and it’s easy to connect with other riders.
I’m curious how it works in the US, especially for those of you who live outside major cities. How do you find people to ride with (assuming you don’t always prefer riding solo)?

Free water tracker app - try it and leave your feedback.

Hi guys! About 9 month ago, I published my free Water Tracker app. I know, I know - there are a lot of similar apps out there. So what makes mine different? It’s actually free. No freemium model, no locked features.

If you’d like to support the app, you can leave a donation, but if not, that’s completely fine - all features are available for free.

I haven’t used any ads or paid promotion, just a few posts here on Reddit, and the app has grown to around 1,000 active users and 2.5k downloads.

Since the first release, I’ve added HealthKit integration, support for oz units (previously only ml was available), and fixed some of bugs.

The app is tiny (about 9 MB), doesn’t track any of your personal data, and I hope you’ll find it useful.

Give it a try, and if you like it, I’d really appreciate a rating or a review. It helps keep me motivated to continue improving the app and adding new features like widgets and an Apple Watch app.

I bought motorcycle to my girlfriend... was it wise?

Hi.. all we know that riding is quite dangerous... I'm riding yamaha r1 (old, 2006), and sometimes I close to be in trouble on road... my girlfriend like moto too, but usually she was my backpack. And year ago I bought motorcycle to her - it's yamaha r25, perfect first bike, especially for girl. But not when she going to ride I always nervous and afraid for her... How to deal with anxiety and worry? I cannot always be with her during riding.
Do any of you have a girlfriend or wife who rides motorcycle?
update: we took off gears only for photo, for riding we always wear it!.

WE ALWAYS WEAR GEAR, WE TOOK OFF IT JUST FOR PHOTO!!!, why you do not read this part all guys who talk about gears?

Small but handy habit tracker - HabitsFlow

Guys, try my small habit tracker. It’s lightweight (less than 7 MB), doesn’t collect your personal information, and doesn’t spy on you or track unnecessary data.
AppStore link
It has a weekly subscription ($1.99), a yearly subscription ($9.99), and a lifetime purchase option ($19.99).

PRICE UPDATE: It has a weekly subscription ($0.99), a yearly subscription ($4.99), and a lifetime purchase option ($12.99).

I’d be happy to hear your suggestions if you try it and have ideas on how to improve it.

Well, I know it’s not an original idea. But most of the habit tracker apps I found felt a bit overcomplicated.

The goal of this app was to be as simple as possible. I actually built it for myself and my own needs, but I’d be happy if others find it useful too.

How properly react to critical user review?

Hello, I have app - https://apps.apple.com/us/app/watertotter-water-tracker/id6751142079
My app is completely free, but it does include an optional donation feature for users who would like to support development. To be honest, donations haven’t been very significant so far, but I’m still happy to people use it.

I can see that the app has a stable number of downloads and that the user base is slowly growing, which is probably push me fix bugs and add new functionality.

But user says that he cannot find app in the app store, what looks strange for me - it's definitely app's problem.

So what you think about my answer? is it ok or maybe I should be more "official" and neutral?

UPDATE:

Looks like my reply not good.. I see it. So I changed it to this one - "Hello dear user. Thanks for feedback. To solve the issue please contact with me via feedback for in the app or via email dev.pavlo.antoniuk@gmail.com"
So I will try to solve issue despite it could be only one user or small amount of them.
