What's up with Trump Accounts?

Saw a commercial during Fifa, it was the first I've heard of these. I don't have kids. From Wikipedia it sounds like something similar to a 529 but the federal government will put in $1k/kid (idk if that's a match or if you just have to sign a kid up)

Trump also posted something about it today on TS, about donations from companies.

Update on the MIL who gave us these "quarter keychains"

I posted about a month ago about my MIL giving us these keychains to use at Aldi. We had no interest and couldn't really figure out how to use them considering the whole cart trade that occurs at checkout.

Comments widely agreed that at best these are a bad idea, at worst they are a terrible idea as they get stuck and can break whole mechanism.

Partner finally had a chance to ask mom about them. Turns out she couldn't figure out how to use them either. And, despite never having used one somehow ended up buying a bulk load of them and has been giving them out to everyone.

So, despite her penchant for being difficult, this was more a case of ignorance and probably falling for some TikTok or penny auction seller's bs.

MIL gave us a cpl of these, I get how they work, but how do you do the cart swap at checkout?

I'm guessing the answer is to quickly swap carts with the cashier before she starts ringing you, but as my partner just said "good luck w that"

Update: good to know our first thought (not worth it) is the correct thought. MIL is known for making easy tasks difficult (for someone) so this is right up her alley.

PSA: you can swipe your card and pay while they are still ringing you up.

Someone told us this once along the way and it's what we always do now. When the last item is rung, all you have to do is grab the receipt and we are ready to walk away.

Another tip we picked up here on reddit, is to always load the largest items on the belt first so that they go into the new cart first, making it easier on the cashier, so they aren't trying to put a large item on top of potentially crushable things. Keep the most delicate items for last.

Edit, I couldn't find a flair that fit, and this PSA is in response to people in another thread complaining about feeling rushed when running their card at checkout, so...

Edit 2: I do not work for Aldi, these are just tips we use when checking out, not just to make things smoother for the cashier and those behind me, but primarily because it reduces anxiety that is inherent in the rush that is Aldi. I'm guessing those who wait to do anything until the cashier tells you don't feel that anxiety, and good for you if you don't.

Some of yall have pointed out a valid concern of wanting to wait to make sure you can verify each price as it rings. That's fine, you can do that and be ready to swipe when the last item is rung.

Need opinions on Starry Kitty

The original had the kitty fully solidly black (minus the little heart and bow, burgandy in the ears, and a few bits of blue, maroon, or yellow in the coat). It felt a little too solid for me and I also wanted to make the kitty look a bit more like my Russian blue.

I'd welcome opinions on how this turned out and what I might still need to edit before I kit down. Or, if it's just terrible and I should trash it altogether.

Too much on kitchen breaker

We bought a house last year and have found that we have too much wired Ona single breaker - our entire kitchen (including microwave) plus part of our dining room. So, we are constantly tripping that breaker, and even when it doesn't trip if we have two things running we can hear the breaker box humming.

When I call electrical services no one wants to do estimates, the best they can do is give me their hourly rate. Is there any way someone here can tell me about how many hours it should take to add a breaker to split our kitchen up? - it looks like we do have an open breaker slot on the breaker box

Eta: we do have an attic and the breaker box is located in the next room off the kitchen

I believe the fridge, dishwasher, and range are on their own breakers (or at least are not included in the problem breaker). What is included is the microwave (over the range) and at least 5 other sockets across the kitchen, breakfast nook, and dining room

Couple of palet cleansers before I start the next big project

First is part of a 4 pc Sanrio set off Amazon. Second is a wooden hanger from Michael's

I'm abandoning this project. It feels too much like work. Too much color blocking and not enough variation for the image to really show through. It looks much better in this image than irl

Grilled cheese with fresh made bread

Bread was my 2nd try in our new bread machine. So good. So soft. I've been enjoying a childhood favorite of fresh made bread and strawberry jam. I've eaten 2/3 of the loaf since I made it last night. I'm used to (and generally kind of prefer) tiny bread, because bread this size makes a sandwich twice the size I can consume.

Latest completed piece (#27 for the year), UFO Cowboy (30x45)

Happy with how this came out. I was concerned when I saw it only had 15 colors.
