Lifetime hours limits?

Lifetime hours limits?

I have been on Babel for a few months and really enjoy the work.

I just noticed they added this to our dashboard, which I haven't seen before. It says under the info tab that once I reach the 215 hour limit, I won't be able to work on these projects any more.

Has anyone who has been on the platform for a long time had experience with this? I'm already at 50 hours which is about 25 per cent of the theoretical total I'm allowed to work on? This has been a great WFH job for me and don't want to not be able to participate eventually...

Have people reached this limit and found themselves being added to more projects??? I am stressing now about running out of work on Babel.

Samosa House Samosas are different now?

I have been living near Samosa House for over a decade. I used to go there a couple times a month, but since moving farther away I haven't been in at least two years.

Their samosas were always very consistently awesome. They also were different than many samosas I've ordered at other places: larger, pillowy in texture with an almost flaky, soft wrapper.

I went this last week to Samosa House West to do some shopping and of course grab a couple samosas.

I was very surprised to see that they seemingly have changed the recipe. The inside seemed to be the same, but the outside was very different. The samosas themselves now seem to be significantly smaller, maybe half the size that they used to be. They were also seemingly fried until the outside was crispy or almost crunchy--very different from the distinctive texture and overall eating experience that they used to have. Also since they were so much smaller, they were not nearly as filling.

Does anyone know if perhaps I just went on an off day? Or has Samosa House changed its recipe in the last few years to make smaller, harder samosas? Honestly they are closer to what I normally expect when ordering samosas at typical restaurants, which is why I was so disappointed; Samosa House's samosas used to seem so unique to me.

What is this streetlight???

Hi friends.

This street lamp is in my neighborhood in West LA, and I am completely enamored with it.

I have never seen a street lamp quite like this.  As you can see from the attached pictures, it is suspended by a central wire over the middle of the street.  It also has what appear to be separate electrical cables that supply power?

The type of light it gives off is very distinctive and different from any modern streetlights that are being installed currently, both in terms of its physical design (I've never seen one suspended over the street like this) as well as its actual light.

It has a very distinct orange glow when lit. Based off my limited research, it may be some kind of sodium vapor lamp?

Can anyone give me any more specific information about this type of lamp?  When they would have been installed, and perhaps why this one is still here–I have looked around my neighborhood and I cannot find any other examples of one like this.

Can anyone recommend any specific subs where people might know more?

NKD: Swiss Army 1 Alox Silver

I’m getting married this week. My brother is attending the wedding and surprised me with a new knife.

He knows I’ve been wanting more knives from the Alox series, and that I value a thin, light tool—my EDC is a Compact that I love.

After dinner tonight he busted out this awesome Swiss Army 1 in silver.

This knife is amazing! I love how light it is in the hand! The Compact is already pretty light, but weighs almost 50 per cent more than the Swiss Army 1 (64 vs. 44 grams).

Victorinox lists them as only being 2mm apart in thickness…but, I’m not so sure about that. Visually it looks like it’s more like half as thick as the Compact.

The simplicity of having just one blade and nothing else lends this thing a sense of purposeful elegance.

This knife is a great thing to fidget with also: with the blade closed it spins very easily between my thumb and middle finger.

The thinness of the aluminum grips is very nice to hold, and I was also extremely pleased that the blade sticks out far enough for me to gain purchase on it between my fingers—unlike the tools in the Companion Slim Alox.

I think the Swiss Army 1 is going to become one of my favorite knives—and I’m even more fond of it because it was a gift from my brother to commemorate my upcoming marriage!

Love this knife! Thanks bro!
