My friend recently adopted a cat, I went to help her out, we picked up the cat and got all its supplies. He was a male, not yet neutered, orange and a lil crazy. She decided to name the cat a Japanese female name (she isn't Japanese). Don't want to dox myself, so I'll call the name "Akari" although the name sounds more feminine than this. She asked me if it was ok since she wasn't Japanese if the name would be ok, I suggested a different name that was English, and a male name, say Alek, but she went with it anyways.

She immediately started referring to the cat as a she, and when I called him "he" automatically, she would correct me and say it's "she." After the cat got neutered, she still refers to the cat as "she" and tells everyone it's a female cat. she seriously enforces the pronouns and continues to correct me if I automatically say "he" because I've seen his balls for gosh's sake, even if nobody else has. She corrects me in front of other people too, in a deadpan look, in a way that makes me apologize and call it a she. I respect her enough to go along with it, but really, made me feel odd.

Is this normal, or weird? Am I odd for being uncomfortable about it? Or anyone have the same experience ?

Like out of all the million people, the world only exists in one perspective, yours, and once you die it's practically like the world doesn't exist. Like it's weird that you are only you? Sometimes when engaging in a movie or a book you get sucked into other perspectives and worlds, but you realize the experience of the world is only yours, and you can't believe that? really hard to describe, like out of all the people, its you that experiences everything.

I can never get over Master Aemond saying "Egg, I had a dream that I was old." Every time it pops up it brings tears to my eyes. And it hits even harder knowing they made a Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. Really hoping he has a cameo.

What do you guys think the saddest, hardest hitting lines are in the show?

I get that it’s part of the lore of the fake world that has incest in it. But a bunch of fans just say it’s kind of hot and ship all the siblings and I feel take the opportunity to see their kink play out irl? Like just weirdly in favor of rhaynera and daemon together, or all the brothers with helaena, including Jace. I half believe the author must have some weird fantasies, or wrote this so that people could fetishize this whole dynamic. Same with Jamie and Cersei. The people who enjoy all of it creep me out.

Wanted to highlight Katniss being unreliable and Haymitch's perspective on her hurting me inside XD - spoilers from trilogy and SOTR- the first hunger games scenes analysis.

With every camera gleefully trained on him, I have just enough time to release the small, choked sound in my throat and compose myself. I put my hands behind my back and stare into the distance.

HAYMITCH LOOKED OUT FOR KATNISS FROM THE VERY BEGINNING HE KEEPS THE RASCAL PERSONA PLUS HE'S ACTUALLY DRUNK BUT PROTECTS HER SINCE THE SECOND HE SAW HER VOLUNTEER. she probably reminds him of Lenore Dove and Maysilee and Louella combined.

Also, the second she clocks that she likes Peeta (after she remembers how he threw her the bread and she's "indebted" to him). Haymitch passes out the first time he sees them and throws up on himself.

“All right,” I say. “I can send one of the Capitol people to help you.” There’s any number on the train. Waiting on us. Guarding us. Taking care of us is their job. “No. I don’t want them,” says Peeta.I nod and head to my own room. I understand how Peeta feels. I can’t stand the sight of the Capitol people myself. But making them deal with Haymitch might be a small form of revenge. So I’m pondering the reason why he insists on taking care of Haymitch and all of a sudden I think, It’s because he’s being kind. Just as he was kind to give me the bread. The idea pulls me up short. A kind Peeta Mellark is far more dangerous to me than an unkind one. Kind people have a way of working their way inside me and rooting there. And I can’t let Peeta do this. Not where we’regoing. So I decide, from this moment on, to have as little as possible to do with the baker’s son.

bro ever since this moment she starts acting like Peeta is the biggest op of her life. but it all started with her realizing she actually likes him because he's kind. JUST A REMINDER SHE BRAINWASHES HERSELF INTO THINKING HE'S SO CONNIVING WHEN HE LITERALLY LIKES HER LOL.

I hear Haymitch say, “Okay, enough small talk, just how bad were you today?” Peeta jumps in. “I don’t know that it mattered. By the time I showed up, no one even bothered to look at me. They were singing some kind of drinking song, I think. So, I threw around some heavy objects until they told me I could go.” That makes me feel a bit better. It’s not like Peeta attacked the Gamemakers, but at least he was provoked, too. “And you, sweetheart?” says Haymitch. Somehow Haymitch calling me sweetheart ticks me off enough that I’m at least able to speak. “I shot an arrow at the Gamemakers.” He rips off a hunk of meat and starts to chuckle. “What were their faces like?”I can feel the edges of my mouth tilting up. “Shocked. Terrified. Uh, ridiculous, some of them.” An image pops into my mind. “One man tripped backward into a bowl of punch.” Haymitch guffaws and we all start laughing except Effie, although even she is suppressing a smile.

its the first time he calls her sweetheart in the book, not immediate like the movie though.

Haymitch POV

“I first saw the girl at the Hob when she was just a baby. Burdock was so proud of her, he toted her around everywhere. After he died in that mine explosion, she started coming alone, trading the odd squirrel or rabbit. Tough and smart, her hair in two braids then, reminding me for all the world of Louella McCoy, my sweetheart of old. And after she volunteered for the Games, that nickname couldn’t help but slip out. I didn’t want to let them in, her and Peeta, but the walls of a person’s heart are not impregnable, not if they have ever known love.”

Plus, the way he shit talks the game makers and gets a 1 and she effectively shoots an arrow at them and gets a 12. Pure cinema. The way he hates the capital, remembers his father, Lenore dove, Beetee and Plutarch's plan, and a perfect girl, who happens to be his old friend's daughter is just the perfect amount of lucky and brave just like he is. Even before very much happens, they're twins.

but I think she underestimates how much Peeta is like him too, they even work out a similar strategy of making allies together, but with the careers instead of the rest of the tributes. Peeta has enough social EQ like Haymitch to pull it off. I think SOTR did a good job of making Haymitch obviously both of their parents.

The day before a sore throat or a cold, sometimes of the postnasal drip has a certain smell that is really strong. Usually I can tell if the lump in my throat is an actual sickness based off the smell. Anyone else do this?

Know a person who is incredibly narcissistic and a red flag, but also charming and smart enough to make themselves the victim and everyone else the problem in all their situations. After suggesting therapy for the longest time, they actually started going, and now she is weaponizing therapy speak and its like the therapy is just validating what she thinks of herself. Do therapists actually recognize when their clients are the issue, or do they not care enough because they're getting paid, and just keep glazing them so they come back?

I am trying to understand, or would like to hear justification for some of the parallels (that some see as fanservice), and how this doesn't pose as a negative for THG trilogy.

To me, the most egregious parallel was his best friend being Katniss's father. Why would he never mention that he knew her father to her in the ENTIRE series, until he's dying with his geese. I can forgive him getting reminded of Louella, and having the whole sweetheart name not just be him being an asshole, it can be both snarky and bittersweet. Fine, I forgive that one. But the whole trope of found family absolutely dissolves with this new information. The reason they work together and bond is because they're so similar. Now she has to be his old friend's daughter. And oh boy, also saving Peeta's father. SO unnecessary.

I didn't love the characterization of Haymitch, as he seemed like the blandest, least motivated character in his own book, and epic in every other book and movie scene in comparison. I personally don't buy that being a young teenager and inexperienced can change his personality to THAT degree, felt like I was reading a lobotomized version of himself. Sure, he was acting more arrogant that he actually was in his games, but I felt like the seam version of Haymitch in the original books died with the movies, and SOTR peed over seam book haymitch's grave. His whole vibe is just this cutesy little happy go lucky guy surrounded by people using him as a pawn. I know age and experience changes a person, but there was hardly a sign of intelligence from the beginning, just him constantly saying, MY GIRL and full excerpts of the raven.

Its clear Suzanne wanted Maisilee to be the sassy young fashionista that a bunch of girls in the new era would enjoy, like a pretty version of Johanna basically. Why she's so angry, who knows. But in a way, just felt so curated to the female gaze but in a marketable way? Like, I like her, but she seems like a plant. She would be fifty times a better main character than Haymitch. Or even Leonore Dove, honestly, another angry, driven motivated character who people thought was an annoying pixie manic dream girl. Haymitch pales compared to these characters.

After sitting with this, I decided that its ok that Haymitch isn't automatically more like Katniss, even though he's from the Seam. His negotiation skill and ability to be charming and snarky alike, was already different from her. In that way, he's actually a bit more like Peeta, especially younger. I really wanted the whole dangerous Seam persona, but I will let that go. But why did she have to make him the weenie hut jr. version of himself. The newcomber thing was hella cringe.

I can stomach that Mags and Wiress happened to also mentor him, and be who Katniss chose. Oh well. And Effie being there. Fine, why not. The whole Beetee Haymitch interaction really pissed me off though. But the fact his kid has to go into the games itself is a cool concept, just how it was executed was off for me. Basically that is my grudge with this whole book. All the concepts were good, if I read all the plot points as an outline, would read great. But the execution and characterization felt so off. I enjoyed Snow and Katniss's POVs much more than Haymitch.

Got kind of flamed in the neutral sub for the whole performance two months ago, and I didn't know if it was a hot take? The only decent response was that queer people shouldn't be put in a box and can be non monogamous or poly or anything else.

I love that she’s bi and they have nothing to prove, but I was still incredibly uncomfortable with their performances doing sexual acts on eachother while having partners. It’s between them what’s considered cheating and what isn’t but really I didn’t think it boded well for how sapphic relationships are viewed. It’s not queer baiting but it is invalidating real relationships between women in a way.

If anything, I feel like Kenneth is the glue of the group who gets along with everyone, and Kaue is the most loved by everyone. But continuing the conversation from Ale's birthday posts and the awkward karaoke. Kenneth and Drew posted for Gabi like they did with Ale, while Ale just did one sentence for Gabi like Gabi did for him. Now I know Ale is a yapper, typing out full paragraphs and calling himself the sentimental one. So a bit off to me. And lately with the posts, since Korea I feel like things weren't as close like they were before? Has anyone noticed anything else?

Not that it matters, at the end of the day the important thing is to get along, and I like how professional the group is. I guess I like the duo of them a lot, so hoping I'm wrong!

I see that Anish is a very polarizing person on the sub. He does say a lot of things that come off as salty. But most of it is just a very dry sense of humor, and the more you hear his real takes, the more you understand the true vibe of Anish. He is one of the most honest, without a mask GMs that exists. He is the only GM that is not fully Indian that gives Sagar Shah many interviews and collabs without letting ego get in the way. He jokes around about Magnus and Hikaru, but we don't know all of the things their teams are doing behind the scenes. And he himself makes it clear he tries to keep things cordial in person. I think other polarizing figures like Hikaru, tend to put a cleaner version of themselves on the internet, and their real "lack of sportsmanship" shows more in the stories of other players. I feel that with Anish, the worst is in front of us, and he's actually better in person. And GM Gustafsson confirmed that Anish wasn't attacking Naroditsky quite like Hikaru made it seem. Anish, having worked with Kramnik before was likely giving both of them the benefit of the doubt and trying to listen to both POVs. I wish he was more supportive outright, but I think he got too much hate for something that wasn't fully known to the public. Also supported Hans when Magnus, Hikaru, and chess.com were on a whole witch-hunt. Hoping to see great chess out of him in this tourney!

I live next to a pond, and I love to see the tree swallows skitter around in the summer evening, every day at the same time! I have a suspicion one is a barn swallow while the other is a tree swallow, as one has a white belly and the other one is quite dark.

Additionally, a great blue heron has been coming all by his lonesome, every day for the past 6 years! He just sits at the waters edge, I've only seen him fishing once or twice. I actually get worried for days he doesn't show up. But I don't have a good camera so no pictures :(

Finally, a really loud song sparrow has been perching on my roof since the start of summer! I get to wake up to some great music and I love seeing the little guy! Although half my window screen is gone, I think due to another pesky opportunistic little sparrow. :D

Hybe has always succeeded primarily with good marketing, especially in the past few years. Because a lot of independent labels have artists more talented then they have, but a big budget and pushing the image constantly makes a huge difference.

The second I saw the Gap ad I knew they would double in popularity, and they got lucky. But not in the way you expect. Braindead people saw the ad as some sort of "moral answer" to American Eagle's ad, when they had it filmed already, and maybe they chose to delay the release (which would have been smart) or they got even MORE lucky and accidentally released it after AEs. So the luck was the timing, but the concept is just as evil as American Eagle's campaign. It's just opposite systems, Hybe is selling diversity and morality (purposely) and AE was rage baiting and using the traditional beauty standard to sell, and the jeans adverts were the perfect breeding ground for exactly what kind of branding they wanted, a moral war. Basically Hybe's wet dream of using morality to make money came true. They're ALL soulless companies, none of them give a shit about morals. Where's the pride month ads, the Black Lives Matter ads. They're all just moneymaking schemes that prey on people's emotions.

Same with the tactics of hybe. Make weverse platform to message artists, hang out virtually, BUILD on parasocial behavior, have your child audience attach emotionally to these girls who somehow care about being "representative" "to inspire the children" bitch you do it to be famous lmaoooo. They literally started doing music for tiktocks and trying to create memes to get screenshotted because internet things that started out organic became ways to market. And all the kids and braindead adults eat that shit up.

And this isn't hate to the members, who are incredibly hardworking. Don't hate the player, hate the game.

Hybe is the fast fashion of music. They literally weaponized and sell diversity and create shows to fabricate emotions to exploit your wallets.

The whole pop genre is going to shit. Real musicality is dying. I feel like I want to support hardworking artist, but thats supporting the entire system. How do you guys stay fans and have this knowledge at the same time?
