Good "in-between" game?

I have been a huge fan of RPG games ever since I played Pokemon Blue on my Gameboy Color.

I love Final Fantasy and Fallout.

Until recently I had really only played late 90s/2000s games.

Lately I've gotten more into retro gaming and have been playing more games from that era. I played FFVI for the first time and absolutely LOVED it.

I then tried playing Ultima IV and.....just could not get into it. The mechanics just feel too antiquated and not intuitive.

Is there a good game I can play that is a little older than FFVI but has more slightly more modern mechanics than Ultima IV? My goal is to sort of expose myself to some of these older games so that Ultima IV doesn't feel like as big of a leap.

Alternatively, is there a good QoL mod for Ultima IV that modernizes it?

Wife caught me lurking, said I should post

My WFH space. A few of the things belong to my wife but the vast majority is mine.

On the Android app, how can I make it so that I can tap between images instead of swipe?

In the browser, there are buttons on the left and right so that I can scroll through images in a post.

But in the app, I have to swipe and the buttons aren't there.

This is an issue because I'm constantly accidentally swiping "back" out of the post.

Movies for 2000s nostalgia?

Looking to watch a movie that feels like driving somewhere using a print out from MapQuest while listening to The Strokes and The White Stripes.

Or feels like I'm connecting with friends in a world where social media doesn't exist.

I want to feel like I'm wearing skinny jeans and taking MySpace angle photos.

I want to feel hopeful and alive.

Deadline to switch off SAVE?

Have people already started receiving notices from their services about their deadline to switch off SAVE?

In May I received an email from US Department of Education saying that SAVE is ending and that my servicer will contact me with a specific deadline by which to switch. However, I have not heard anything from my servicer.

If anyone has heard from their servicer, what deadline were you given?

Also, is it possible to apply to RAP before July 1st? Does RAP tend to be the cheapest option?

Switch payment plan or hold the line with SAVE?

So like many of you, I have been on SAVE forbearance for close to 2 years. So far i have just sat back and let things play out.

Now I, like many of you, received an email saying that after July 1st I will have 90 days to switch to a different plan.

I hit 120 eligible months back in April and have already submitted my buyback request. I had 14 payments left.

As part of the buyback application, I was not asked to recertify my income, so I'm not really sure what income the buyback payment would be based on.

Since I was waiting to do my buyback, I requested an extension on my taxes, thinking that my tax info would be needed for the buyback. So I was surprised that I was not asked for that during the application.

So now I'm thinking, if I switch now then my payments would be based on my 2025 taxes, where I filed individually. But for 2026, i'm going to file jointly with my wife.

Should I switch plans now or should i continue to hold out and see what happens in 3 months?

Moogle Charm in ff6?

I recruited Mog and have him in my party.

But when I go to the room that the charm is supposed to be in, all the other moogles are still there and the charm is not.

Is this not unlocked until later in the game? I just left the town where I got Relm and Stargo

RPG games that are not fantasy or sci fi?

Are there any good RPG games that are neither fantasy nor sci fi?

I like Earthbound a lot for its slice of life feeling, although that does have a lot of sci-fi elements.

Pokemon and Digimon games balance both sci fi and fantasy in a way that doesn't quite feel like either of those.

But I can't think of any RPG games that are truly not fantasy or sci fi.

Trader Joe's Yuzu Miso spread

Jar says best by 5/31/25. Not entirely sure how long it's been opened but probably at least 8 months.

I don't see any mold. It looks fine.

The smell seems ok too but because of the Yuzu it has a strong citrus smell making it hard to tell if it's gone sour.

Should I lather up some salmon with this and eat it?

Going to a wedding, unsure of trimming hair?

I'm attending a wedding next week.

I used to have short hair, but I've been growing it out. I want to continue growing it out, but I think I may be at a point where I need some sort of clean up/touch up. I definitely don't want it cut short.

I usually put mousse in my hair while it's wet and then blow-dry it. Sometimes I use hairspray afterwards but in these pics there no hair spray.

What advice do you all have and what should I say to the stylist?

I will be shaving and brushing my hair better for the wedding, but this is my general look.

How to verify months of deferment for buy back?

I'm following the instructions on the Student Aid website: https://studentaid.gov/manage-loans/forgiveness-cancellation/public-service/public-service-loan-forgiveness-buyback#eligible-months

Follow these steps to buy back months for PSLF.

  1. If you have any unreported periods of qualifying employment, certify those by using the PSLF Help Tool to submit a PSLF form.
  2. Verify the months of deferments or forbearances you want to buy back and confirm you have approved qualifying employment for the same months (see how to verify those months).
  3. Submit a request through PSLF Reconsideration. Select “PSLF Buyback” for your reconsideration type and confirm, “Yes, I have 120 months of qualifying employment.”
  4. If you are eligible to buy back months, we will send you a buyback agreement with the amount to pay and instructions to pay the full amount within 90 days of our email to you with the buyback agreement.

Clicking the link in #2 just redirects me back to this same page. What exactly am I supposed to do for #2? I already certified my employment in step 1.

Dang FF6 is so good

I was really wanting to play a retro RPG that I had never played before. I tried Golden Sun, but honestly I found the game to be a total chore. I didn't feel invested in the characters, didn't really see the point of the plot, wasn't finding battle that interesting. I played for like 12 hours and just kept thinking...when is this supposed to get fun?

Then I booted up FF6 for SNES. Hoooooly sh*t I was immediately captivated. The way they set up the context for the plot in the first 30 seconds. The little vignettes introducing the characters. It's just all so well done. Haven't been this excited for a game in ages.

Game: FF6 on SNES

Console: Trimui Brick Hammer

Mannequin: CPR practice dummy

So on the Student Aid website it lists the buyback steps like this:

My question:

Does step 1 need need to be fully processed before doing step 3? I just started step 1 but my employer hasn't signed (i know they will, that's not an issue) and idk if I need to wait before doing 3. I don't want to accidentally make things take longer.

I recently got a copy of ff9.

All the discs look like they are in OK condition, although there are a few minor scratches.

Will the games work completely as long as they boot up normally to the loading screen?

I don't want to put 30 hours into a game only to encounter a part of the game that I can't get past because of a disc scratch.

And if you're wondering why I didn't test it before buying, I got it off a street vendor for $5.
