Hey guys - Got a notification saying there's a new firmware update for my Horizon Pro. I don't see a changelog and not sure what the update contains. The latest firmware on XGIMI's site is from 2022.

This is my first projector and I wanted to know if it's a good idea to update the firmware? Because I've noticed that updates for TVs sometimes bring in Ads etc.

I saw Interstellar at Cinepolis IMAX when it re-released a few years ago. My complaints back then were that seats were pathetic and I wasn't a fan of how the audio was calibrated.

Surprisingly, I have more issues to report after watching The Odyssey today.

I think their projector is dying because you could see vertical bands throughout the movie in bright scenes. For some reason, you could see a red outline appear for about 10-20mins or so around the half-time mark. You will also notice light flickering in scenes where there is a gradient (when they show the sky during daytime).

Audio wise, I still don't think it's calibrated properly. I could hear some distortion during action packed scenes when everything got loud. It's like they've cranked up the gain unnecessarily.

Last but not the least, the seats still suck! You cannot sit on them comfortably for more than 1hr. I had to keep readjusting myself throughout the movie. Didn't take the seat cushion I ordered because it was too big :D

Oh and I'm definitely going to write to the Cinepolis's CEO about all of these issues.

Because of all these issues, I'm going to stick to PXL for the foreseeable future. It is a much better experience!

About the movie, I thought it was Nolan's weakest movie yet. 3/5.

Hey Folks - I've been trying to complain about bad roads by sending an email to min.pwd@kerala.gov.in like I've done in the past but there's no response this time around.

The same is happening with MVD's and Kerala Subhayathra's WhatsApp numbers. There's just no response despite follow ups.

Has the complaint process changed due to the change in government?

Got an Uber cab for my ride home earlier tonight. The driver had to pick me up from a place with narrow roads and he was driving a sedan. Got inside the cab and asked him if it was difficult for him to arrive at the location and he politely said it wasn't a problem.

Didn't say anything to each other for about 5mins and just as I was going to put my earbuds on and listen to music, he asked me where I was working etc. I don't mind talking to these guys because it's a pretty lonely job and some of them have interesting stories to share.

He told me how it was a brand new car and since I'm a bit of a car guy, I asked how much it cost on road, mileage while running on CNG etc. Then he started telling me about some of his rides and experiences with customers. How some people literally disappear while pretending to pay when they get out of the car and how some people say that they'll pay later but don't. And, he didn't tell me all of this in a way that sounded like he was complaining. He was smiling and just telling me what happens in his daily life as an Uber driver.

Then he told me about a girl who arrived in Kochi for a job. It was her first time in Kochi or something and didn't know where she had to go exactly but he helped her figure out the location. She was thankful and took his number in case she needed a cab later.

He gets a call from her at 3am the same night and told him that she's feeling uneasy and needs to go to the hospital. He works during night time and was free. Picks her up from her location and she told him that her chest hurts. Takes her to a government hospital immediately and gets an ECG done. The doctor found a variation in the reports and she apparently had a minor attack or something.

That girl was 28 years old, all alone in a new city, her father had passed away and her family was in another district. He stepped up and took care of her hospital visit and expenses like she was family.

She told him that she'll pay him but he said it's okay. He didn't incur a lot of expenses apparently since it was a government hospital.

I reached my home shortly after. Asked for his Google Pay number even though I had already paid for the ride online. He was confused as well but I gave him a good tip and thanked him for doing what he did and told him to keep helping more people.

Hey Folks - I need to take a break and I usually head for the mountains.

I need to stay in a place where I can rent out the entire property, the immediate vicinity should be isolated so that I can enjoy the peace and calm and it should also have an amazing view.

If you experienced the above at a hotel or resort, let me know about those as well.

Please let me know your suggestions.

Budget is 10k per night.
