Right. A few days ago I posyed a question about what to do in Winnipeg while absolutely unimagineably fucking shitfaced. Now that Im somewhat sober and is capable of forming somewhat coherent sentences I have a few more questions.
Ive been invited over Christmas by my half Canadian friend. I like to watch hockey and one of my big dreams would be to go and see an nhl game live, how affordable are jets tickets? Are there any nice national parks/ forest areas near Winnipeg that I can visit (nature photography is my hobby)? Also what are Canadian christmas traditions like? Another thing, in Finland where I come from it is customary to get a present for the family that you are visiting over any holiday (typically something like a bottle of whine or another form of alcohol), is this a thing in Canada? Lastly, are there any parts of Winnipeg that I should avoid and what is safety like in general?
Tried to post this earlier but it got caught in a spamfilter or something I think
Our landlord surprised us with a couple “upgrades” including changing the light switches and left them like this.
Fun story: I flunked Grade 9 science so many times, my school only gave me a credit because the teacher who was doing one-on-one teaching with me had a mental breakdown and left the school half-way through the semester.
I wish I was kidding.
(Shout out to Mr. B’s wife for taking the house and the kids. Couldn’t have made it without her.)
If it helps: I’m a preschool teacher going into an Inclusion speciality, best at learning about brains, if I had to pick a theoretical subject rather than hands-on.
First time gardener. Full time idiot.
I was shocked to see my family’s history on display. Highly recommend if you’re in Winnipeg. Admission is free for Indigenous people. This is only one photo of one segment. Make sure to pull out the drawers to see more if you visit.
In June, 2026, the Child Abuse Unit received a report about a teen who had been sexually assaulted.
At the beginning of June, a female in her early teens was walking in the Northend neighbourhood when she was approached by an unknown male who offered her alcohol. She accompanied him to a residence in the 300 block of Selkirk Avenue. Over the course of the next two days, she was drugged and sexually assaulted.
When she managed to flee, she went to a nearby location for help and police were contacted.
Investigators identified a suspect and he was taken into police custody on July 20, 2026.
Derek Rielly HOULE (55), was charged with the following offences:

He was detained in custody.

Manitoba Purge Time. What crimes are you witnessing?
Apologies for the weird picture editing. Had to remove identifying features less people know I’m posting my dogs on the internet for free.

Foot pain in this area has been on again, off again for years. But since going shoeless in my new hardwood floor home, it’s gotten crazy!
Might have to do with how unlevel the house is, or it’s structural? I don’t know!
My primary care physician won’t even give me a referral, so I’m looking for help identifying the muscle and seeing if there’s things I could be doing better with my gait or how I walk.

The only solution I’ve found so far is having something constricting the area, like a too-tight sandal, rolled up compression sock, or piece of fabric, and long periods of rest and elevation.
My father was a Sixties Scoop survivor and I’ve been trying to reconnect culturally for a decade now.
However, practices and beliefs are so dependent on the community that I was hoping to find someone with a direct connection to the following communities and families:
Communities: St. Francois-Xavier | Baie St. Paul | St-Lazare
Families: Belhumeur | Desjarlais | Fleury |Hayden | Houle
Unfortunately elders in the biological family are either dead, have dementia, or I’m not connected to them.

He was facing jail for 10 years. Had failed boot camp twice - talking about not liking life. Was raised by his mother who worked in a post office.
He wasn’t attending school classes he was in confinement in adult prison, rather than a juvenile facility because he needed to “bring it up to the administration” if he wanted to be moved.
He reminds me so much of the boys I worked with. His mannerisms and “I don’t know” answers made me think of FASD or intellectual disability. Clearly had no advocate in the system.
I’m wondering if there were any updates on him.
I was reading about missing/unidentified persons cases in Calgary and this one particular case has really stuck with me for a while and I was hoping to bring light again to it.
Back in 2005, the remains of an unidentified man were discovered at South Glenmore Park. It is believed that they belonged to a person by the name of Jay, due to keychains and a Korean Bible with his name written in it. Furthermore, a stamp, which is used in Korea as a signature, was found, and he is also believed to have gone by the name of Han Jeong-hoon.
There is almost no information about this online and this case has always resonated with me. Hoping to maybe bring attention to this or if anyone knew about this.

That don’t turn orange, please.
According to the news, the tornado took some folks by surprise. Isn’t that what the alerts were for, or did they not go through?
Years ago, there was a training for service providers that taught about EIA, disability, and how to navigate the benefits and advocate within the system.
Does anyone remember the name of it and who provided it?
Thank you. Merci.
