Grieving the life I never got to experience.

I know so many people will come at me for feeling this way but I can't help how I feel.

My childhood was not so great with both my parents working, mom's a tailor and my father is a security guard. Well he's alcoholic and abusive, he used to do 4 days night shift and 4 days dayshift, it might have messed him up mentally so he took it on us.

So I found love when I was in btech 1st year. It was my schoolmate whom I know for so long. He's my first love. He was such a great guy. Ditto like Korean series hero, understanding and so so loving. I got to experience such amazing love , I can't describe it. Sitting beside him in auto would make me feel so relaxed, it's so relaxing than my mom's hug. He went to college trip and died there in accident. My whole world collapsed. I used to be like a walking zombie. I thought of commiting suicide but I couldn't let my mother suffer. I continued living and slowly started getting better with the help of my friends. I got job after finishing graduation, while working my family started seeing matches. So I told I want to do higher studies. Cracked gate and got college in Chennai.

There I met this guy, I felt it's better to marry someone I knew then a stranger and got married to him. He's a good person but not a great person. I know searching for my first love in him is unfair. But I got to experience so much love that this doesn't feel enough. Maybe marriage changes people. I really don't know.

Sometimes I miss my first love so so much. I would imagine how life would be with him. It's not like I don't love my husband. I love him too. But I miss my first love so much. It's been 12 years, I remember each and every moment with him and hold his memories to my heart. I just want to vent to someone as I can't tell this to anyone, they will hate me if I tell my friends or anyone else.

Hacks to make the toddler busy while we do household chores.

I will share mine.

  1. A snack they like - for my toddler it's cashew coconut meat, sweet lime cut in half with seeds removed, pomegranate, apple slices, orange etc

  2. A book and a pen once they understand they should not keep the pen in their mouth.

  3. Two bowls and some toys in it, she moves them to and fro from one bowl to another bowl.

  4. Scooter inside home.

  5. Make them sit near the window and ask her to see vehicles outside.

  6. Some cartoonish books she enjoys.

  7. A sweet treat like seseme seed ball, or peanut chikki if I want her extremely busy for sometime.

Share yours. Thank you.

Students cheating in exam. ?

I worked as an assistant professor in a college, my friend was my colleague. We were given invigilation whenever there were any exams. So semester final exams were happening. I caught a student with a chit. I took the chit from him and kept quiet, I didn't report to anyone.

My friend too caught someone with chits and sent them to the principal. That student got into big trouble. After sharing the incidents that happened with each other, she was upset that I didn't report the student.

I didn't report because I felt every student should be given a second chance, a chance to change, to fear cheating. That he's getting caught and he should not cheat anymore. So I let him go. But my friend argued with me not to do that anymore. We both quit those jobs. She's doing PhD now and I am a homemaker.

I remembered this incident after seeing old news of a student in pes University of Bangalore committing suicide for accusations of cheating by his professors. Some students are sensitive and innocent even if they were cheating. They will definitely face other difficulties for cheating but I just chose to let them go so they don't have to face difficult circumstances at college. Maybe I am wrong. It's good that I left that profession , I never really like it anyway. Would you punish the student who's caught cheating if you were the invigilator?

Please help me with sambhar recipe.

When I was in inter, my classmate used to bring sambhar for lunch. She asked me to taste it once and I loved it so much. It was so different from what my mom makes. It's yellowish in color. No hint of red chilli powder. It was not sweet but it had a different taste I can't describe it. Kammaga undi ani cheppagalanu. There's definitely little jaggery involved though. Enni sarlu chesina naku aa taste asala ravadam ledhu. Vaalu native telangana vaalu. I lost touch with her completely. I don't even remember her name properly. Please help.

Milk leaking after 6 months of weaning.

My daughter is 2 years old now. I weaned her from breastfeeding at 18 months. Recently I started getting milk whenever my daughter cries or whenever I kiss her. Is this normal? It's not much just 2 or 3 drops.

32f disagreement with husband 32m about having 2nd child.

I am 32f and have a daughter aged 2 years.

My first pregnancy miscarried and the doctor did some blood tests and diagnosed me with apla ana positive which means I should take a blood thinner injection everyday during my pregnancy for the whole 9 months.

Also I have incompetent cervix/short cervix which put me in risk of preterm birth so I got a stitch in 14 weeks of pregnancy. This is a minor procedure under anesthesia.

I got admitted multiple times in hospital due to dehydration because of extreme nausea and vomiting and iron infusions.

On top of all this, mentally drained worrying about the outcome of pregnancy everyday.

This was all traumatic for me, I carried my body like glass, whole day bed rest, I can't even go for a 5 minute walk.

After my daughter's birth, I forgot all the pain. I got my body back.

After seeing yesterday's post of someone aborting the child without her husband's knowledge, I just told my husband about this. He got super furious and asked me never to do such things.

I thought me and my husband were on the same page about not wanting another child. He just told me my daughter might ask for a sibling someday and if it's an accident, we can have the baby.I said it's a strict no after what I have gone through. I told him I will get my tubes tied. Instead of agreeing he told me not to decide the future now.

I just don't have energy physically and mentally for another baby. I am feeling frustrated. He doesn't seem to understand.

Birthday snacks and cake.

My baby's birthday is tomorrow and I have invited 4 to 5 people with their kids. I am planning on making whole wheat dates cake and snacks as fruit salad. I am doing this because sugary food makes my child hyper and I am thinking the same with other kids as well. Is this ok or am I doing too much? I am scared that I will be judged.

Edit: I am not considering outside savouries as the moms are dieting to lose weight. Also it's not good for kids either.

Toddler is not eating enough after stopping screentime during meals.

It's extremely exhausting to care for my toddler, so I just keep tv while giving her meals. She stopped chewing and started to swallow directly, she was so immersed in tv, she won't even respond if I call her. Her tantrums increased a lot too. So I stopped tv from yesterday and she's not eating properly. Only 1 idli 1 dosa instead of 2 which was her regular serving. Also she's underweight 10.5 kgs her age is 2 years. Does it get better with time or should I go back to showing screen. Please help

Rant incoming.

My in-laws came to stay with us for three days after about 1.5 months. They brought a huge batch of mangoes from their tree. The mangoes were already ripe and starting to spoil, so after sharing some with the neighbors, I made mango whole-wheat cupcakes for my 2-year-old using the mangoes as the only sweetener—no added sugar at all.

I offered one to my in-laws to taste. They each took a small bite. My MIL passed hers to my husband, and my FIL left his sitting in the corner of the kitchen counter. My husband and daughter happily ate the rest. They weren't gourmet, but they were perfectly edible because the mangoes were very sweet. It was their choice, and I genuinely didn't mind if they didn't like them.

What bothered me was what happened next.

My FIL brought store-bought cakes made with refined flour, lots of sugar, and palm oil. He happily ate them while insisting that my toddler should have some too. I simply said they were too sweet for her and left the conversation. It was frustrating because I spend so much time making healthy food from scratch for my daughter, and it felt like none of that effort was respected.

Then today, things got worse.

Since morning, my FIL has been giving my daughter chocolates and biscuits. I kept saying no, but they acted as if they couldn't hear me. My husband stayed completely silent.

Recently, my daughter stopped drinking milk after we weaned her off the bottle. She doesn't like drinking from a tumbler yet, so instead I've been giving her curd and ragi to help meet her calcium needs.

Today, my MIL gave her about 70 ml of milk with one tablespoon of sugar mixed into it. Of course my daughter loved it. Then my FIL proudly told me, "See? Give her milk every day."

I replied, "Of course she'll drink it if you add that much sugar."

My MIL got upset and started talking to my husband. He finally said, "The doctor told us not to give her sugar."

My MIL responded that every child she knows drinks sugary milk and they're all fine.

I said that giving young children lots of sugar can make them develop a strong preference for sweet foods and make it much harder to encourage healthier eating later. My FIL jumped in and said they should at least give her "natural sugar" (naatu sugar/jaggery). I replied that, nutritionally, they're still forms of added sugar and shouldn't be treated as unlimited health foods.

They laughed at me saying you don't know health benefits of natural sugars.

Then my husband said, "Fine, just give her naatu sugar."

That completely undermined me. My in-laws went on explaining how wonderful naatu sugar is, especially for babies.

By the end of the day, my 2-year-old had probably consumed around 3–4 tablespoons of added sugar between the sugary milk, chocolates, biscuits, and other treats.

I feel completely unheard in my own home. I'm not trying to ban all treats forever or make my child eat "perfectly." I just don't want people ignoring my parenting decisions, especially when it comes to a 2-year-old's diet.

The hardest part isn't even my in-laws anymore—it's that my husband barely backs me up. I feel like the bad guy every time I say no, while everyone else gets to be the "fun" grandparents.

It's effecting my marriage, my husband is not that bad. Even though it's love marriage, our personalities are not aligning at all. I regret everything and I can't change anything.

Feet always in plantar flexion.

Ever since high school I used to sit like this whenever my teacher asked whole class to sit straight. My feet always in plantar flexion. This messed up and as a result my body centre of mass came forward. Now I have high arch/ rigid arch, my mid foot never touches the ground. It's only my toes and my heel. I developed anterior pelvic tilt, rib flare, forward head posture and rounded shoulders.

Now I am trying to get my mid arch to pronate. Please help me/suggest me exercises for this. Thank you.

Question to all adults.

If you're doing very well in your career and are financially successful, do you ever find yourself looking down on friends who are less successful by comparison? Why or why not?

If you have friends who are significantly more successful than you in their careers or financially, do you ever worry that they might look down on you? Why or why not?

How to stop using chest and neck muscles while breathing?

Recently I started learning about diaphragm breathing. I tried it in front of the mirror. While breathing normally, I observed I am using my chest and neck muscles to breathe. That's the reason I have a tight chest, rounded shoulders and forward head.

I want to know if diaphragm breathing is the only way to reduce chest breathing? I heard belly breathing is not good either. Only diaphragm breathing is the correct one. Please help me. Also I have learnt breathing should be effortless but I put a lot of effort while trying diaphragm breathing.

Finally Realized Where My Feelings of Unworthiness Came From

Recently, I've been reading some self-help books and doing a lot of introspection. I realized that deep down, I carry a strong belief that I'm unworthy of good things—love, success, abundance, opportunities, and even feeling beautiful. I've also struggled with a lot of insecurities throughout my life.

I started asking myself: Where did these beliefs come from?

Then it hit me.

When I was a child, I lived in a slum area. My parents worked long hours and were away most of the day. I would go to school, come home, and spend a lot of time around the neighbors.

One neighborhood aunty treated me like a free babysitter. In return, she constantly criticized my appearance. She commented on every little thing about me and made me deeply insecure about how I looked. She also assumed I wasn't good at studies. When she found out I was actually doing well in school, her behavior became even worse. Looking back, she seemed unable to accept it.

The problem was that I was only in 3rd standard. I didn't have the maturity to understand that her comments reflected her issues, not my worth. I absorbed everything she said as truth.

I lived in that environment for about five years. Later, after we moved, I met another person who also seemed bothered by my academic success. He would make comments like, "You'll study well, get a good job, find a rich husband," and so on. At the time, I didn't realize how much these repeated comments were shaping my beliefs.

Over the years, I slowly started feeling like maybe I wasn't worthy of good things. Those ideas became deeply ingrained in me.

As an adult, I struggled with self-worth. I viewed myself as less than others. I felt undeserving of good opportunities, good income, love, and success. Even when opportunities came my way, I often sabotaged them through self-doubt and overthinking.

Today, many of my classmates are settled in successful careers while I am currently a housewife preparing to restart my career. As I work on myself, I'm also trying to understand where these feelings of unworthiness originated.

One thing that has given me hope is seeing how different my current environment is.

My husband is dark-skinned, and my two-year-old daughter is dark-skinned as well. Not a single person in my current social circle has ever made a negative comment about my daughter's skin tone or appearance. Even our relatives have never commented on it. That makes me genuinely happy because it shows me that not everyone thinks the way those people from my childhood did.

I also see people around me earning 40–50 LPA and doing extremely well in their careers. My husband has never been jealous or insecure about them. Instead, he encourages me to work once our daughter starts school. His attitude is always, "Let's grow together. It's okay if it takes time."

I admire that mindset.

And honestly, this journey isn't just about money or appearance. It's about something much deeper—the feeling of being worthy.

Now, whenever I feel insecure about my looks or undeserving of an opportunity, I remind myself: These beliefs are not who I am. They were planted in me by people who projected their own insecurities onto a child.

I was never the problem.

Those voices are not my voice.

I'm slowly learning to let go of those beliefs and not pass them on to the next generation.

If you're struggling with feelings of unworthiness, it may be worth asking yourself where those beliefs came from. Sometimes they aren't yours at all.

Thank you for reading.

Consulted physiotherapist

Hi, I have anterior pelvic tilt. I did a lot of research for approximately 2 years, tried every exercise but there was no relief. Every other video said to do diaphragm breathing (not just belly but belly and ribcage) I have been trying that but couldn't find any results. So I finally consulted one physiotherapist online.

He told my back rib cage is not at all moving, it's fully compressed and my right side body is overactive, I understand this part.

So he told me to lie with legs bent 90 degrees on wall and do belly breathing, without moving ribs. If I inhale for 3 seconds he told me to exhale for 6 seconds. Surprisingly I felt little better after doing this. He told my ribcage on backside is not having space. But belly breathing is contradicted by every other physio on social media.

I am really confused . Please help me
