What's the best archival method for less than 1TB data?

Please read the entire post before responding!

I need to backup my photos and videos (50GB) and my documents (20GB). So far I've been using 8TB hdd because I have 0ver 7TB of shows and movies. I no longer care about hoarding these and will stick to the essentials from now on. I will have 50GB+20GB to start with. I project and increase to 200GB within 5 years and maybe 1TB lifetime max storage.

So my question is, should I buy 2x 1TB HDD and replace them every 5-10 years OR should I go with blu-ray discs instead? HDD will be much more convenient but they seem so damn expensive specially long term. Bluray writer will cost me upfront but bluray-discs wont need replacing as often as HDD and they're cheaper.

Am I wrong? Is there a high quality archival HDD you could recommend that works better than Blu-Ray for my use case?

If you're recommending either option, please mention specific models of either HDD or bluray writer+discs that I can buy. I have been searching the net for days and no longer need general advice. Thank you <3

What's the best UI component library for Angular dev?

I'm an Angular dev planning to build a mobile-first app for ios and android. I understand capacitor will help me with this but what about ui library? I don't hear great things about ionic and can't find an alternative. I will need charts, graphs and data visualization in addition to the basic (buttons, toolbars, tables, etc.)

What should I go with?

Is reach worth 25CAD?

Reach is now 50% off for ps plus members at 25CAD.

I liked the trailer but seen too many conflicting reviews on whether or not the game is “complete” or worth it.

I’m not exactly in a rush to buy games since I just started playing VR and have many games in the backlog so having said that is it worth it or should I wait?

PSVR2 has re-ignited my love for gaming!

I just got my PSVR2 a couple of days ago as my first VR headset ever and paired with ps5 pro it's been a fantastic experience!

I posted a thread a couple of days before I got the headset that I'm in a gaming rut and most big AAA games feel boring. Haven't been able to set down my PSVR2 since I got it! Well that's not entirely true because I need to take breaks otherwise I feel dizzy. But man VR gaming is so much better than I thought it would be! My only gripe is how bad the lenses are at giving consistent image quality when I'm moving around but at the price I bought this thing I can't complain much.

The feeling of touching the water from the boat in Horizon Call of The Mountain demo was just surreal! The way I could put puzzle pieces together in puzzling places. The cute little Moss. The fun combat in hellsweeper. I just can't wait to jump in for some more!!!! I haven't been so excited about something like this for so long! it's so fucking awesome!

I don't really need game recommendations since I already have so many VR games in my wishlist like Hitman, Arken Age (this one I bought but didnt play yet), Synapse, GT7, walkabout minigolf, etc.

Having said that, I'd like to know what's YOUR #1 most amazing VR experience that you couldn't replicate in any other game?

As a bonus, which VR game works best with hand and body movement instead of having to use the joystick?

P.S. Is there a way to reduce dizziness and motion sickness from the "Smooth Locomotion" of camera in some games? I hate snap 90 degree movements but the smooth makes me dizzy specially when it's too fast

Best games that are enjoyable on the small screen

Most people in these threads will just recommend their favourite RPG that has tons of small text and requires full attention to play.

I'm looking for games that work specially well on the portal's smaller screen and on the go when you can't focus on the game for more than 20-30 minutes at a time

Bonus points if it's on PS Plus right now

What are the best quality indie games on ps5?

What are the best 10/10 quality indie games on ps5 pro?

non-repetitive (no roguelike), no filler, no busywork, not too much dialogue or story, not multiplayer and not too long.

Pure quality and unique experiences

suggest a 10/10 game that will get me out of gaming fatigue

Update: After some of these discussions, I have narrowed it down to Indie games. preferably non-pixelated (though I enjoyed inscryption) and not too big of a game (rules out stardew-like games).

I'm on PS5 pro

I've been playing too many large and/or not so large but still AAA games (e.g. Sekiro, Witcher, FF16, etc.) recently. I'm kinda fed up with those tbh and I couldn't finish them except for Sekiro.

I'm also tired of soulslike games even though I love them and I will definitely play some of the upcoming ones.

Suggest me a truly fun quality over quantity game I can play and enjoy without feeling like I'm wasting time grinding or watching a movie. Something that rewards exploration, player agency, respects my intelligence, etc. I'm kinda tired of button mashing AAA slop games. I want something fresh

I was told to play Dishonored, Bioshosk a few years back. I tried both but couldn't get into them. idk if I should try them again or not.

Please help! I've already touched grass and it didn't help!

Buy a house vs rent and invest?

Would you buy a 400k house/condo with 100k down payment or would you keep renting and investing that money in high yield ETFs like XEQT?

I genuinely can’t decide. The numbers favour renting by a very slight margin but I’m afraid if I don’t buy I will never be able to

Also I hate sitting my money collecting dust in 2% HISA since I’m afraid to buy ETFs in case I wanna buy a house in next 5 years

Red dead redemption 2 vs Gothic 1 remake

Which one is worth playing if I only had time for one?

I actually started RDR2 and as much as I like the story and immersiveness so far, it feels like an interactive movie than a game. I want a game that is a bit more fun.

Does RDR2 get better if I push a bit further? Last thing I did was the brawl with the guy in the first town. I also got the bounty for those 3-4 gunslingers from that dude in the saloon. it all sounds interesting but the moment to moment gameplay gets interrupted by long cutscenes too often so idk...

Is Gothic worth the full price? I made the mistake of getting Crimson Desert on release and ended up hating it so I don't wanna make the same mistake. How deep of an rpg is Gothic? Is the combat and moment to moment gameplay fun?

With the new steamdeck prices should I just buy a PS5 pro?

I bought and sold my ps5 within less than a year after I heard Valve will release Steam Machine first quarter of 2026.

But Valve kept moving the goalpost and now not only we don't know when/if they will release this thing, after the steamdeck price increase, steam machine will probably be way too expensive for what it is.

I'm so close to buying a ps5 pro and calling it a day. The only thing that keeps me from doing so is that I would really want to play a bunch of indie games I have on Steam like PEAK which arent on PS5. Right now I play these on GeforceNOW streaming service but I fucking hate every second of it. Hate that I have to pay monthly just to play games I own, hate the lag, the graphics, the kickout if im afk for 10 minutes, the lack of cloud saves in some games, and I hate NVIDIA too.

Sorry for the rant. If you were me would you just buy the PS5 pro and skip playing some of your favourite steam games?

P.S. I couldn't care less for PS exclusives (except for Demon's souls and Bloodborne which I already played. They don't really have many exclusive soulslikes in the pipeline afaik and even then soulslikes arent rare like they used to so I will survive without them. my real concern is waiting for steam machine and it being over $1000. at that point I would regret waiting however many days/weeks/months when I could start enjoying gaming again tomorrow if I buy the ps5 pro)

Best starter car?

I want to buy a starter car that’s as cheap and reliable as possible and works well in Quebec City winters. I have money saved up but I don’t wanna spend too much on a brand new card if I can avoid it.

I’ve done some research on the internet and the information is confusing at best. Some say Toyota or bust but some say Toyota isn’t worth it used because it costs similar to brand new. There are some much older Toyota models around 5k-10k but some say they’re not worth it due to mileage or wont work.

I also had a friend who bought a used car on marketplace for 3k and it lasted for about 3 months before it was busted and the mechanic said it’s gonna cost more to fix it than selling it for parts. Then again people say buying from dealership is also a scam.

So here I am confused and no idea where to start. Like I said I have money saved up (around 20k cash+ 20k low interest line of credit ) but I much prefer not to spend all my savings on the car and to never dip into the line of credit (it’s my emergency fund).

Any tips or advice is greatly appreciated.
