AITA Partner wants help paying for pet surgery

AITA? Me and my partner have been together for over 5 years now and we have a very healthy and strong relationship, at the start of this year we moved in together which is both of our first experiences living away from our parents. My partners cat who she has had since before we started dating is now needing a dental surgery which is expected to cost $2000 plus. We both make the same amount of money roughly which is a decent amount and together we both live comfortably but $1000 would definitely cut deep into my savings. When my partner told me that the surgery is needed she presented it in a way where she was expecting me to pay with no hesitation... Am I the asshole here because I dont feel like I should contribute to it?

Playtesting is underway

After my best effort of adding some colour and life to the shitty paper version of my map, I have since stickytaped it to a large piece of cardboard and have begun playtesting with me mates.

Rules have been updated, it used be that if you choose to raid a building you would then replenish the cards on the location immediately but has been updated to it only now gets replenished once each location has been raided and both boss locations are defeated.

Zombie cards are also more controlled now and the win condition has been increased to make it more worth looting.

I have also begun working with an artist from this Sub redit to actually get some custom art work done and am extremely keen to see where that takes the game.

Am likely going to get a kickstarter going once all of the rules and art are locked in but until then I shall keep sharing small updates.

If you wanted to know more of a description about the game, its working title is Relive, it is for 2 to 4 players and approx an hour of gameplay. Players on their turn will choose to either raid another players base, loot one of the buildings as pictured above or rest. The objective of the game is to reach 30 of each resource or be the last person with resources, thats basically it. Raids are determined by dice combat and raids are very risk vs reward when you are running low on resources. Still in the very early days but I love this Subby and want to share my progress.

Progress after today

Have 3d printed my models and added some colour to my hand drawn map to try and bring some life to it. What do you all think so far?

My board game

I definitely wouldn't consider what I have made art but I think its the closest tag that fits. This is my board game that I am making, basically its a resource management kind of game set in the zombie apocalypse, I am happy to go more into the rules but I wanted to share my early stage progress with you all.

Picture #1 is of the map I have rough sketched so I can play test with my mates (obviously not very good) but I will most likely outsource for somebody better to do it.

Picture #2 is the 3d figures I am printing as pieces for the game, players will move their piece to their desired building when they choose to raid it.

Picture #3 are the cards that will be placed at the buildings and is what determines most of the gameplay

There will also be event cards which I have not figured the art out for yet and there are also mechanics where you can raid another players base and another mechanic where you can rest to replenish some of your own resources.

4 players max and approx 1 to 1.5 hours of gameplay.

Disclaimer the card art and 3d models were all made using royalty free pictures and models found online, I used paint to make the rest of the cards like the number boxes and backgrounds and for the models I downloaded them and through blender added the bases and am using Elegoo Satelite to 3d print them. And obviously the map is just a shitty free hand drawing but will be improved over time.

Why are there so many explosions and burning buildings in zombie movies?

I am watching World War Z and there is a scene where the show the city maybe half a day after the outbreak starts and there is smoke billowing out of majority of the buildings, I then realised that this is not isolated. Do you think it is just to exaggerate the speed of everything declining or do you actually beleive this kind of thing would happen?

My life has taken a very weird turn lately where I now find myself working a 9-5 in an office and tbh I am loving it, recently and I do not know why I have fallen deep down the zombie rabbit hole (playing the games, watching the movies etc) I have always had an itch for the creative side of things which has normally presented itself in the way of writing music but recently while heading to work I was enthralled by the idea of a zombie apocalypse breaking out in my work place and since then I have been working on a screenplay for exactly that, the basic premise is a group of people in a law firm building are trapped in an elevator when a zombie apocalypse starts spreading through the office and when they come to, the elevator begins moving randomly to different levels in the building. I am currently working through the meat and potatos of the story just trying to get the layout of the movie down and will then start working on the action scenes and shit. I love this sub reddit since finding it and am just so excited how fast it is coming together that I just wanted to share. I hope this is something people would be interested in, I am picturing The Platform meets Mayhem. Also yes I am aware of the movie The end? but this will be quite different. But yeah let me know what you all think.

I dont take these kind of things lightly do when Ethan and the crew talked about it I was shocked.

In the first photo we can see that after watching the episode that there were 21 pieces of carrot which had been cut.

The crew count a total of 4 pieces that were missed, but after counting the amount in the pot I was only able to count 16! This would imply that 5, thats right 5! Pieces of carrot were in fact missed from the pot which brings me to my final point and complaint.

In the 3rd photo you can see circled the absolute smallest most insignificant piece of the end of a carrot which I am including in my counting. This MF... made sure to include this tiny piece of rabbit food but was somehow perfectly happy letting 5 regular pieces fall into the abyss. As somebody who grew up poor with no food this deeply offends me and I pray for the safe return of the 5 other pieces of carrot. Papa bless from Perth, Australia
