How much weight do you give to the management team as part of ultimate go / no-go on a deal?

I’ve worked at three PE firms. One would only do deals if they felt very good about the management team (or at least their ability to fix / change the team). The other is more willing to overlook this if they believe in the business thesis.

Curious, broadly, what’s the experience of others??

Men with office jobs - when do you typically shower?

Perhaps an odd question. I’ve always been one to wake up, shower and head to the office. But I am thinking about trying to make early mornings more leisurely, which could mean showering before bed each night and not each morning. Curious what other guys do.

Whatever happened to the threat of spontaneous combustion?

Growing up “spontaneous combustion” of humans was a topic. Was this a GenX thing or no?

Do you think about friends you’ve lost? If so, in what way?

More than 30 years ago a lifelong friend died in a car accident. We had known each other forever. We had worked together that summer, and were closer than ever when we lost him.

Enough time has passed this isn’t a grief post. It’s a post about friendship and memories. I still think about this guy 2-3 times a week. He was very charismatic, smart, handsome guy who was genuinely loved by all who knew him. He was legit special.

I have specific images in my head of him. One is of when we worked together. He’d sit for hours on the floor (where no one could see him) so we could chat instead of work. And one from high school. On a school trip it’s him standing and talking to me while we are getting ready for bed. That was a very (non-sexually) intimate time. Just a few guys, no women to create competition. And we’d talk before bed about anything and everything. Random, but these are the pictures of him that live on my head.

Side note: we shared the same first name. When I think of him I often say his full name in my head - it’s hard to explain but a fitting tribute to such a beautiful, kind, and loving human.

I still miss him

Question for attorneys: Gingras conduct / behavior

In the YouTube videos Laura’s attorney tell her, basically, to ignore the court ordered attorney fees payments. Is this an ethics violation that the bar should penalize?

Why are there so few true crime shows about missing men - especially young men.

It starts to feel like no one cares when something happens to a guy - or it’s a form of victim-blaming.
