Notifications are silent when connected to android auto

I don't like to have my messages or other notifications pop up on my car's screen. i dont want the distractions. but i DO want to hear that i got a txt, and since i have different sounds for different people that send me txts, i can usually hear WHO i get a text from, so i know if i have to stop and address it or ignore it.

im not sure when it started, but i currently do not get any sound from my phone when im connected to android auto. i tested it out this am and not only do i not get a sound, i dont get any of the other notification items. no bubble at the top of the screen, no edge colors, no sound.... just the notification icon.

am i stuck with this functionality unless i turn on the message notifications on android auto itself? if so, thats pretty stupid.

fiberglass in mattress - can i salvage foam portion for a camping foam pad?

pretext: i have a zinus mattress that we got through a "wrong address" delivery from 5 years ago that is completely unused. it has been sitting in storage. was about to take it to my cabin for our guest room, happened to look up the brand, and see all the warnings about fiberglass. needless to say, i dodged a bullet. it was literally loaded in my truck and ready to haul to the cabin tonight.

tl;dr: my question is... if i remove the cloth exterior, and whatever the foam topper is, will i be removing the fiberglass from the situation? the foam seems to be in the gray part, and a lighter topper in the white part. im just not sure if the foam sections are injected with fiberglass as well. We are looking for a foam mattress pad for truck camping. this would both save us some money buying one, and avoid sending extra crap to the landfill...

yazoo keys zero turn a good buy?

someone i know is offering to sell me their zero turn for $400. from what i understand, the engine ran fine, but it wouldnt move. someone removed the drive belt, but i have no idea if thats why it wouldnt move or not.

im pretty mechanically inclined, but ive got no idea how hard It's going to be to find parts. im considering fixing it for my use, or fixing it to just resell.

ok, so our old as dirt g6a-7 atwood is starting to act up. it hasnt been lighting reliably. it could probably be fixed with a new thermocouple, and i will probably do just that for a short term repair, but the exhaust metal is a bit rusted and the thing is just getting pretty long in the tooth. not to mention, we would love a unit with spark that we can turn on and off with a switch from inside, which would save us a ton of propane, as we only need hot water occasionally.

we arent really looking to replace it with a new unit, so ive been watching for used ones on ebay. and there seems to be tons of them with everyone going tankless these days. just looking for some opinions on what models i should look for.

i know suburban makes the drop in direct fit unit. SAW6D im yet to see one used, and since they are so new, i doubt i will anytime soon. also, steel tank(with anode) and im assuming this is a con over aluminum tanks they used to have?

so really the 2 main options i see are:

suburban SW6D. i see these most often. ive seen them in person as well.

cons...

  • steel tank.
  • they would require fitting and me to shrink down the opening. it is well within my abilities to do so, but a con nonetheless.
  • the doors arent hinged, they just sit in place.
  • the pressure release is jammed behind the door latch, which makes it harder to drain(we winterize about 4-6 times a year, so this is important)

pros:

  • the ones i see are usually pretty new, and in good condition
  • parts availability

atwood G6A-8E i see these occasionally. havent seen one in person.

cons...

  • older and in rougher shape
  • older so unsure about parts availability

pros...

  • same similar size, might be a direct drop in.
  • hinged cover
  • aluminum tank

if the steel tank is not as big of a deal as im making it, i think that would sway me to the newer unit, so please weigh in there. we typically have our tank full from march-october, and then fill and empty it every use between october and march, which is usually 2 times a month.

speaking of steel tanks... has anyone used the annode/drain combo that camco(and a few other brands make? and if so, care to weigh in?

https://www.amazon.com/Camco-11533-Atwood-Aluminum-Heater/dp/B0024ECD2I

we currently have a quick valve to turn ours on and off which we would hate to do without and this seems like the only option if we have a steel tank.

i have a few apple trees at our cabin in north central PA. the one tree was looking rough last year and this year i noticed a giant ant hill underneath it. from what ive read, the ants dont do much damage, but they are usually a symptom of aphids, and will "farm" the aphids. so my question is... how do i combat them at a cabin that we only visit about once a month? i see most solutions are regular spraying with water, or soaps, or oils... that's obviously not an option for us.

id normally be ok with a non organic aggressive insecticide like imidacloprid, but as soon as i saw that its bad for bees, i wanted to look for another solution. i also saw PyGanic, but that seems to require regular applications, and its suggested to be used in conjunction with other methods. would imidacloprid be ok for a one time use?

ive also heard that another option is trying to kill the ants so they no longer protect the aphids from natural control... which would be great as the ant control would be pretty non invasive. as far as bees, etc go.
