For those who watch NBC’s Premier League coverage in the US, what do you like/dislike about their broadcast and how can they retain casual World Cup viewers?

This will be the 14th season that NBC has had the rights to the Premier League in the US. They’ve seen their viewership and engagement increase steadily year after year and have really helped to grow the game in a country that was once apathetic (at best) to the sport. Following the World Cup, they’re expected to get a little boost from the outset this season with interest among casual viewers in the US still high. What do think about the job they’ve been doing? Are they adequately representing the league and the sport in general and how can they best capitalize on the momentum the World Cup has produced?

Amazon constantly upsells me in order to get free same-day shipping, then pulls this shit.

I wanted one $17 item that had free next-day shipping. Amazon says “well, if you spend $8 more, you’ll get all your items today!” So I picked an $11 item I didn’t need right away, but could use. And now, “oops, both items are delayed and will now arrive the same day your single $17 item would have arrived anyway.”

I’d say this exact scenario happens about 50% of the time.

What is the most improbable escape in the (original) series?

For me, it’s probably Terminus. Too many coincidences occurring at the perfect time - and not only do they not lose a single person in the escape, they actually GAIN Carol, Tyrese and Judith in the end.

Honorable mention goes to Glenn somehow managing to survive after Nicholas kills himself and pulls him down into a horde of walkers below.

Anyone else notice Juul pods aren’t lasting longer than a single day anymore?

It used to take me almost a week for me to go through a four pack of 3% Virginia Tobacco, now, over the past six months or so, it’s lasting maybe three days. I’ll put in a fresh pod at like 9am and it’s empty by 8pm. A single pod used to last me 2-3 days, now it’s literally lasting less than 12 hours. I’m not puffing any more or less than I used to, either. I think they changed the formula because the juice is much lighter in color now that it’s not lasting as long. I don’t know if it’s all the law changes that made them reformulate (especially here in New York), or if it’s just to purposely make them not last as long so that people buy more often, but it’s definitely different.

I got a random two pack a few weeks ago when the store I went to was out of four packs, and the pods had noticeably darker juice and lasted three days each - like they used to. I would just keep buying these two packs, but they’re $18 compared to $26 for the four packs. It just doesn’t make economical sense.

What are your settings for watching sports in a dimly-lit room?

I’m watching some World Cup and NBA Finals and my picture just looks very dim (B5 48”). Tried adjusting some picture settings and couldn’t really make it any brighter (even with pixel brightness at 100). Got me thinking about what you guys would say are your optimal picture settings for brightness/color/clarity for this environment. Watching on YouTube TV if that makes any difference.
