‘Easy’ MicroFit Adpaters

I saw OldLamer’s YouTube video the other day on the proprietary BC250 MicroFit pinouts: https://youtu.be/aaDUkPn9ASE

He cut and crimped his, so needed the crimping tool, proper guage wire, blank pins and housings, and thought to myself there’s a much ‘easier’ way.

When the RTX 30 series Founders Edition cards launched, they used an interim connector that was neither PCIe nor 12VHPWR. They shipped with a dual female PCIe to 12-pin MicroFit pigtail adapter, and you can easily find aftermarket versions on Amazon for around ~$13-18. (2 Pack, or single braided, cheaper braided)

The advantage here is that the wires are already factory crimped with MicroFit pins. You just need to buy blank 8-pin MicroFit housings and a pin ejector tool. You extract the pre-crimped pins from the 12-pin head and slot them directly into the new housings, making sure to match the proprietary BC250 pinout. This avoids the need to cut, crimp, or solder, for those who aren't comfortable doing that.

If you are going to cut and crimp anyway, an alternative is to pick up an FSP500-30AS power supply on eBay for about $30. These were originally built for NUC systems, they are compact and quiet. They use a proprietary connector scheme for the main lead, but you can simply short it to force the unit to power on like any 24-Pin ATX PSU. You can also swap the CPU EPS connector for a PCIe connector, just remember to rearrange the pins since the two connectors have mirrored 12V & ground layouts. You can then cut off the remaining PCIe heads and crimp MicroFit connectors directly to the PSU cables for a clean, purpose-built cheap SFF PSU, or even just use the pigtail adapter method mentioned above.

Object Class: Keter: The Backrooms film was a missed opportunity for a stealth SCP Cinematic Universe launch

This film could have served as the perfect stealth opening for an SCP Cinematic

Async appears to operates like the SCP Foundation. They use containment protocols, exploration tactics, and have that same cold corporate attitude. When the Async team neutralizes Mary with gas at the end, it felt like agents administering amnestics to cover up a civilian breach.

If they had replaced Async with the Foundation, or just flashed an SCP logo on a uniform in the final frames, it would have been a massive reveal similar to the ending of Split.

Since the ending is open, they could still retcon Async into the SCP universe. A sequel could reveal Async as a corporate front or a civilian company that got in over its head, forcing the actual Foundation to step in and take over containment.

Solar Powered Starlink Failover: EDUP 12V > 56V POE Injector & EcoFlow Delta 2

Just wanted to share a part of my setup.

My primary ISP is Fiber, I live in a storm prone area and wanted a low cost active failover. Starlink in Standby mode was what I landed on, though the price increase now has it closer to just doing a 5G ~$15/mo backup.

I have a small ~440W solar array feeding an EcoFlow Delta 2 and an extra battery. I wanted to run the dish DC to DC in bypass mode without the Starlink router. I initially tested a Yaosheng step-up injector, but it did not play nicely with the Delta 2. It constantly cycled between active status and a low-power error state.

I swapped it for an EDUP 12V to 56V Step-Up POE Injector that I found on eBay for $30. I connected it to a 12V cigarette lighter socket lead. The dish now pulls a steady 25 to 30W with heating fully disabled. The EDUP unit gets slightly warm under load but performs exactly as needed. After this photo was taken I did properly connect the injector to ground.

The POE injector connects to a UniFi Flex 8 2.5Gbe switch, which is powered via USB-C from the Delta 2. This switch connects to my UDM Pro in a separate room using a 10Gbe AOC uplink. I put the Starlink connection on its own VLAN assigned to one of the UDM Pro switch ports. I then run a physical loopback cable from that port into the second WAN port on the UDM Pro.

Optoma CinemaX (P1, Pro, P2) Series Firmware Update [March 19, 2026]

Optoma released a new firmware update for the CinemaX series on March 19, 2026. This update does not present itself as an Over-The-Air (OTA) network update (At least not on my CinemaX Pro), so you will need to flash it manually via USB.

The U.S. support site no longer lists downloads. I found them on the European Optoma site. Then I couldn't find the P1 due to the regional naming convention of the P1 being sold under a different model number abroad, UHZ65UST.

The CinemaX P1 and CinemaX Pro use the same firmware as the European UHZ65UST. Flashing the UHZ65UST firmware onto a US CinemaX Pro works perfectly.

Here are the download links for each model:

P2:

Changelog

Key Changes in This Release

The documentation lists the system firmware as version 17.2, but once installed, the projector info screen correctly identifies it as C18.

  • HDMI 2.1 / 8K AVR Handshake Fixes: Resolves sync loops, snowy images, black screens, and incorrect resolution detection when connected to modern Denon, Yamaha, and Marantz receivers.
  • Expanded Audio Delay: Internal speaker delay limits have been increased to +/-150ms (Auto Settings) to better address lip-sync and audio alignment issues. This applies only to the built-in soundbar.
  • Discrete Power Off Command: Added support for a discrete IR/BT "Power Off" code. The full hex code list can be found on the product download page.
  • UI Bug Fixes: Corrected an issue from previous builds where audio settings values would incorrectly display as zero or negative.
  • App Removal: The unsupported iQIYI application has been removed from the marketplace.

If you have been dealing with handshake drops or audio sync issues on your setup, this update is worth the manual effort. Make sure to use a FAT32-formatted USB drive for the flash process.

EDIT: u/Smagdali over on AVSForums pointed out that these FWs somewhat address a serious security vulnerability in these projectors that he discovered: https://whitelabel.org/security/2026-02-01-smart-projector/

eBay will reimburse sellers for Post-INR deliveries if an eBay label is used

I thought this was more common knowledge since the update occurred last year, so I wanted to help spread awareness since it looks like it’s not well known. I used to ship with PirateShip but have moved to eBay labels because of this change.

We'll automatically reimburse you for the item, remove defects, and exclude the case from service metrics.’

My take on the Standby Plan price increase

I get both sides of the argument, it’s not that most of us can’t afford an extra $5 ($120/yr vs $60/yr), it’s a ‘luxury’ after all, it’s the principle of the value, at $5/mo who cares, it’s a nice to have backup, at $10/mo it’s now crossed the threshold of a service that I actively use daily, which this wouldn’t fall into for most people. I can see though where this is perfect for an always on offsite IOT only network.

On the flip side, you’re talking about a satellite service that even 6+ years ago wasn’t even an option, with shitty HughesNet costing $150+ for garbage service, Starlink has made high speed satellite internet highly available to more people. On the surface, even $10/mo isn’t bad for what it is, but, since they launched the Standby plan at $5/mo initially, it has ‘anchored’ the price for people, and now any increase will be seen as a shitty value.

I have AT&T Fiber, I strictly had this for a backup in a hurricane prone area, for me, $10/mo isn’t worth it for the backup option that may get used once a year, $5/mo was.

EDIT: At $10/mo for Unl Low Speed is where I’d now rather spend the $5 extra for Unl High Speed 5G, Computers4People resells T-Mobile High Speed sims for $14.99/mo which I have at my moms place as her primary ISP. They do shape traffic shape/throttle streaming services to 1.5Mb/s but that can be bypassed with a VPN. Outside of that she gets ~400/60 service on a UniFi 5G Max connected to a UDR7.
