New and need help for my family!

TL;DR: Our family is moving from Alaska to Phoenix and will be starting over with very little. We’re hoping to connect with people who have household items, bedding, food, clothing, or other necessities they no longer need—especially things that might otherwise be donated, given away, or sold at a garage sale. ❤️

Our family is moving from Alaska to Phoenix, and I’m hoping Reddit might be able to help us get a little bit of a head start.

The move has ended up being much more expensive than we anticipated. After paying for transportation, moving our belongings, shipping our vehicles, and everything else that comes with relocating a family across states, we’re going to arrive with very little left financially.

The hardest part is that we’re essentially starting our household over. We’ll have a rental home, but very few of the things that normally make a home functional.

We also have three kids, including a teenager with Type 1 diabetes, so having food and basic necessities available right away is especially important.

Things we could genuinely use include:

- Bedding, blankets, pillows, air mattresses, sleeping bags

- Dishes, cookware, utensils, cups, etc.

- Towels and bathroom necessities

- Cleaning supplies and laundry items

- Storage bins, hangers, laundry baskets, and other organizational things

- Small furniture and other basic household items

- Nonperishable food and groceries

- Water jugs/containers and household water supplies

- Lightweight clothing suitable for the Phoenix heat

- And honestly, pretty much anything useful for setting up a home from scratch

Used is completely okay. We’re not looking for everything to be new or perfect. If you have things sitting in your garage, closet, storage unit, or a pile you’ve been meaning to donate, we’d be incredibly grateful to give them a new home.

Someone suggested I reach out here because Phoenix is a huge community, and there may be people who have things they no longer need but would rather see go directly to a family than toss them in a donation bin or spend a weekend trying to sell them.

I’ll be honest—it’s difficult for me to ask for help like this.

I’ve spent the last several years doing everything I can to keep our family moving forward. In the past four years, I’ve lost both of my parents and all of my grandparents. I’ve also survived being shot in the face, which left me deaf in one ear and with partial facial paralysis. Through all of that, I’ve continued homeschooling our three kids and doing my best to take care of my family.

We’re really hoping this move can be a fresh start for us.

So if you’re in the Phoenix area and have something you no longer need, even if it’s something you would normally put in a garage sale or donate, please feel free to reach out. You may have something sitting around that could make a surprisingly big difference for our family.

And if you don’t have anything to give, that’s completely okay too. Sharing this or pointing me toward someone who might be able to help would mean a lot.

Thank you for reading, and thank you to anyone willing to help our family get our feet underneath us as we start this new chapter. ❤️

edit- My kids are- 14f(size 7.5 shoes 10 or large bottoms large size top, 8yom size 5 in men's 10/12 or boys large in tops and bottoms and 5yom size 13 shoes 5t top and bottom

Im working with my realtor to schedule drop offs. We arrive in 12 days

Looking for affordable alternatives to Fuel Blitz (18x9, 6x135) for my F-150

Hey everyone, I’m looking to buy a complete wheel and tire package for my 2016 F-150 xlt. I’ll be doing a ton of highway driving in Arizona, so I need tires that can handle the heat, gas mileage and smooth ride. I'm a veteran trying to utilize discounts to keep the total package around $1,200 - $1,600 if possible.Should I look at a dedicated Highway-Terrain (H/T) tire, or is there a mild All-Terrain (A/T) tire?

Wheels: 18x9 with a 6x135 bolt pattern and a +18mm offset (looking for budget-friendly alternatives to the Fuel Blitz

Tires: LT275/65R18 (Load Range C). I need something excellent for the highway that is quiet, smooth, and has great longevity in hot climates.

Medical/any records from my time?

Hello! How can I obtain more than just a dd214? Am I able to get my medical history? How do I get disability or any vet benefits? I was honorably discharged after A school but before my orders because of seizures ( I had a car accident before boot camp and my recruiter still sent me ) but I also have memory loss from that time frame and my local VA isn't very responsive. Thanks!

I use Hueguard Glotion Mineral Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 50, CeraVethe Resurfacing Retinol Serum & elf holy hydration face cream. Depending on the day ill use Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant.. is my face wrecked for life or is there something I can use to help? Is the red part under my eye worrisome? Thanks for any advice

Feeling overwhelmed by wanting to stay anonymous

TL;DR

I want to stay anonymous while starting a residential cleaning business in Alaska. I’m considering a New Mexico LLC (via Northwest) owning an Alaska LLC, plus an Alaska business license.

Questions:

  1. Should the NM LLC be the legal owner of the cleaning business?
  2. Is it worth doing both LLCs just for privacy, if Alaska will still show the NM LLC as the member and NM records can be searched?
  3. Do I need to register my NM LLC with New Mexico TRD and get a tax ID myself, or does Northwest handle that?
  4. I know I’ll file federal income tax and self‑employment tax—anything else I’m missing?

I’m ready to start working and have everything I need to begin offering residential cleaning services. My goal is to stay completely anonymous.

I was advised that I could use Northwest Registered Agent to form a New Mexico LLC to help maintain privacy. From what I understand, I would also need to register in Alaska—since that’s where I live and operate—by filing for an Alaska business license.

However, someone from the Alaska Business Office mentioned that if I do this, the Alaska LLC would list the New Mexico LLC as its member, and New Mexico LLC records can still be searched. That makes me wonder if going through this entire process is actually worth it for privacy.

Here’s how the filing costs look so far:

New Mexico:

  • Northwest LLC formation: $39 (includes registered agent service, renews at $125/year)
  • NM state fee: $52
  • EIN (Tax ID): $50 Total: $141

Alaska:

  • Northwest LLC formation: $39 (includes registered agent service, renews at $125/year)
  • AK state fee: $250
  • EIN: $50 Total: $339

My main confusion is about taxes. I’ve seen that I may need to register my New Mexico LLC with the New Mexico Taxation and Revenue Department to get a business tax ID. Do I actually need to do this, or will Northwest handle it for me?

I’ve also been told I’ll need to file federal taxes and pay self-employment tax, which adds to my confusion. Since it’s the weekend, I can’t get clarification until Monday, and I want to make sure I understand what I actually need to do.

After I have gotten it completely legal I definitely plan on hiring a CPA!

Thanks for reading my long confusing post!
