I've seen a lot of jackpot winners in anime, but Onizuka's still hits different (Biggest Jackpot in Anime #1)

A lot of anime characters have won huge jackpots.

But nobody did it like Onizuka.

He wasn't just trying to win a Mercedes. His reputation was on the line. He needed the money back, his students were counting on him, his school could end up in trouble and things could have gone very wrong.

Then he somehow turns the whole situation around in the most Onizuka way possible.

That's why I still love this scene. It's not really about the car.

It's about watching a complete maniac walk into a terrible situation and somehow leave with the jackpot.

Great Teacher Onizuka was built different.

Legendary Gambler Tetsuya is one of those anime that doesn't get talked about enough anymore

It came out over 20 years ago, but a lot of fans still bring it up when someone asks for the best gambling anime.

What I like the most is the atmosphere. No flashy powers, no giant explosions, just people sitting across from each other trying to outplay, outsmart and outbluff one another.

The gambling feels old school in the best way. Every game has weight and every decision feels expensive even when almost nothing is happening on screen.

You can definitely see why so many people still call this a classic. Even now it has a style that a lot of newer gambling anime don't really have.

I still don't understand how Kakegurui never got a Season 3 announcement

The manga is still going, people still talk about Yumeko and every few months I see someone posting clips from the anime again.

Maybe I'm just biased because I love gambling anime, but this feels like one of those series that still has a lot left to give.

Anyone else still waiting or have most people already given up?

Oingo Boingo Might Have The Weirdest "Gambling" Power In Anime

Most gambling anime are about cards or casinos.

Oingo Boingo are different. They get a prediction of the future and then bet everything on making it happen exactly the way it's supposed to.

That's what I like about this scene. Every little decision matters because one mistake can ruin the entire prediction.

It's not really gambling with money.

It's gambling with fate.

Also... can we talk about this opening for a second? It's absolute nightmare fuel. I have no idea what they were smoking when they made it, but it's somehow perfect for these two

Kaiji took one of the simplest games ever and somehow turned it into pure stress

Everyone gets the same small deck of Rock, Paper, Scissors cards and a few stars. Sounds easy at first.

Then you realize every card matters because once you waste them, they're gone. Every lost star gets you closer to losing everything.

It stops feeling like Rock, Paper, Scissors after about five minutes. It turns into bluffing, reading people and trying to figure out what they're holding before they even play it.

Still one of my favorite gambling games in anime.

Using the new Lupin III release here because the animation looks great, but man the old Lupin was a completely different animal

This guy walks into casinos, robberies and impossible situations like he already knows how everything ends. Half the time I have no idea if he has a plan or if he's just gambling on pure confidence.

The newer version feels smoother and cooler, but the old Lupin was an absolute menace. That guy looked like he could lose everything at the table and still somehow leave with the money.

And honestly that's why he gives me gambling vibes more than most actual gambling characters. He doesn't really play safe, he just acts like the odds don't apply to him.

The old Lupin was a real motherfucker though

What do you guys even know about high stakes?

This guy casually says "nuclear bomb" on his first move.

For anyone who hasn't watched No Game No Life, I highly recommend it.

This isn't an anime about betting $5.

Sometimes they're betting kingdoms, entire races, their future, and occasionally reality itself.

The best part isn't even the stakes.

It's the confidence.

The ability to stay calm when one wrong move could cost everything.

Some anime have fights.

No Game No Life has psychological warfare disguised as a game.

And somehow it works

Hot take:

Daniel J. D'Arby is one of the greatest gamblers in anime history

This man convinced people to gamble:

  • their money
  • their freedom
  • their souls

At one point, someone literally put his mother's soul on the line during a card game

And somehow that wasn't even the craziest thing that happened in JoJo

Who belongs in the anime gambling hall of fame?

Straw Hats I Would Trust With My Last $100

#10 — Monkey D. Luffy

I trust him with my life.

I do not trust him with my money.

#9 — Usopp

The money would probably survive.

The story about what happened to it definitely wouldn't.

#8 — Franky

There's a decent chance my $100 comes back as part of a larger project.

#7 — Brook

I honestly think he'd try his best.

The problem is that Brook gets distracted very easily.

#6 — Tony Tony Chopper

One of the kindest Straw Hats.

Probably too kind for his own good.

#5 — Sanji

The money is safe.

Unless a beautiful woman asks for it.

#4 — Roronoa Zoro

The money is safe.

The problem is finding Zoro again.

#3 — Jinbe

Responsible, calm, experienced.

Exactly the kind of person you'd trust with something important.

#2 — Nico Robin

Smart, patient, and almost impossible to manipulate.

My money is coming back.

#1 — Nami

I know what you're thinking.

But Nami values money more than anyone on the crew.

That's exactly why I'd trust her with it.

Who would be your #1?

Title: Casino Owner Tier List #5

#5 — Zenitsu Agatsuma (Demon Slayer)

Zenitsu is constantly stressed, constantly panicking, and constantly looking for a way out.

Running a casino requires confidence, and that's probably his biggest weakness.

#4 — Usopp (One Piece)

Usopp would be great at attracting customers.

The problem starts when it's time to actually run the business.

At some point he'd accidentally believe one of his own marketing campaigns.

#3 — Power (Chainsaw Man)

Power has the confidence of a CEO and the responsibility of a toddler.

The casino would be incredibly entertaining.

It would also be shut down within a week.

#2 — Aqua (Konosuba)

Aqua is surprisingly lucky when things don't matter.

The moment real money gets involved, disaster somehow follows.

#1 — Monkey D. Luffy (One Piece)

Luffy would never build the most profitable casino.

He would build the most fun casino.

Nobody would remember how much money they won or lost.

They'd only remember the experience.

Who would you actually visit?

My S-Tier ranking of the most degenerate gamblers in anime (Part 3)

My personal ranking from least dangerous to absolutely hopeless:

C-Tier: Aqua

Would somehow win big, lose everything five minutes later, and blame someone else

B-Tier: Light Yagami

Convinced he's the smartest person at the table

Usually right

A-Tier: Doflamingo

Looks like the kind of guy who owns the casino, the hotel, and half the city

S-Tier: Aizen

Already knew what cards you were going to get before you sat down

SS-Tier: L

Would spend six hours analyzing your betting patterns just to fold and make you question your entire existence

Who takes the crown this time?

u/Capable-Bar5002 — 25 days ago

I would pay good money to watch Light and L play poker against each other

Death Note isn't about gambling, but the entire anime feels like one giant high-stakes poker game

Every conversation between Light and L is a bluff, a trap, or an attempt to read the other person's hand

No superpowers, no Death Note, no detectives

Just give them a poker table and a deck of cards

I'd watch that for hours

This anime isn't about gambling at all, but damn... That's one of the hardest poker faces I've ever seen

Gets me every time

Kakegurui: Cheating Allowed is based on the anime Kakegurui and it's pretty much exactly what you'd expect from that world.

The whole game revolves around gambling, bluffing, mind games, crazy bets, and trying to outsmart your opponents. You'll run into all kinds of over-the-top characters who are willing to risk everything just to win.

If you've seen the anime, you already know it's less about luck and more about reading people, manipulating them, and figuring out who's lying first. It's basically a casino full of complete lunatics

u/Capable-Bar5002 — 1 month ago

Kakegurui

Kakegurui is basically a school where gambling decides everything. Money, status, reputation, even your future.

The whole show is built around insane bets, mind games, bluffing, manipulation, and people risking way more than they should. It's less about the math and more about the psychology behind gambling.

If you're into high-stakes games and absolute chaos, this one is definitely worth watching.

The most expensive and rarest card in history is still the Pikachu Illustrator promo card with a perfect

PSA 10 grade. In February 2026, it was sold at Goldin Auctions for a record-breaking $16.5 million, officially becoming the most expensive trading card ever sold

One Piece Film: Gold is probably the perfect anime movie if you want a giant floating casino setting.

Released in 2016 as the 13th movie in the franchise, it follows Luffy and the Straw Hats as they get trapped aboard the massive entertainment ship Gran Tesoro, ruled by the gold-obsessed Gild Tesoro
