This is a really weird question, but what magical girl main leads would you say have longer hair than Ichigo Momomiya? I've always been interested in hair length for some reason.

Would you recommend Fruits Basket to those who love Hey Arnold?

Both shows are about a kindhearted orphan who goes out of their way to solve problems, both have empathy as a main aspect, both have a character who's harsh on the outside but nice on the inside and is closest to the main character. Both also are ones that deal with deep, heavy and traumatic issues.

Please tell me someone here remembers Tutenstein, Time Warp Trio, Grossology, Kenny the Shark and Growing Up Creepie

Nobody seems to remember these shows and I have no idea why shows like Dexter's Lab, Courage the Cowardly Dog, Rocko's Modern Life, Ren and Stimpy, Ed Edd n Eddy, CatDog and Powerpuff Girls are remembered more often than these 5.

Would you call Dexter's Laboratory one of the most wholesome cartoons ever made? It has a lot of heartwarming moments about sibling bonding

I feel like I'm mentally challenged

and I don't use that lightly. I genuinely feel like I am dumb. I'm 25, I don't have a job, I can't drive, I live with my dad and my comprehension skills are abysmal.

I can't handle shows unless they're for preschoolers with only a few exceptions like Precure, Ojamajo Doremi, Tokyo Mew Mew, Cardcaptor Sakura and Hamtaro. I have a hard time with a lot of movies with some exceptions like some of the Ghibli films like Kiki, Totoro, Arrietty and Ponyo. I get easily freaked out, have a hard time with noises or anything too cartoony and weird.

I just feel really awful about myself. I hate myself. I've even hated on shows like Cowboy Bebop or South Park in the past only because I'm jealous that others can handle them and I hate that I can't handle them. Even in school, when teachers talked, I didn't listen and they would scold me for not paying attention.

I'm genuinely a mentally challenged person and the fact that a KIDS show (like for ages 6 to 11) like Billy and Mandy or Ed Edd n Eddy gives me anxiety is really pathetic.

Please see where I'm coming from, but I don't think of Tokyo Mew Mew as a tween/teens show, I see it as more of a general kids show 😭.

The stories are simple enough to understand even for someone like me that has a hard time paying attention to stuff and a lot of the merchandise was aimed at very young girls. Just look at this.

Im sorry I just think of this as a little girls show around the ages of 6 to 9 and I love it for that.

Growing Up Creepie (2006-2008)

This show was about a middle school goth girl raised by bugs who went to school and does stuff in her daily life. Along the way, spooky stuff occurs.

Does it surprise you that Pepper Ann was actually for a slightly older demographic than Recess?

Recess was for kids around say 6 to 11 (1st to 6th grade) or so, while Pepper Ann was for tweens 9 to 14 (4th grade to 9th grade).

Why didn't Hamtaro take off in america?

I get that it didn't fit Toonami, but why didn't it take off in general? Was it because it was way more popular with girls than with boys? I'm really hoping that's not the reason, because while it was more popular with girls, there were a fair share of boys too who liked it.

Was the reason Hamtaro didn't take off in america have to do with it being more popular with girls than with boys?

I ask because Cartoon Network was so determined to be a gender neutral network (before eventually becoming a "boys" network) and Hamtaro seemed to do way better with girls than with boys. They probably weren't happy with that.

Should I try to please people I don't even know and who don't know me?

I've tried pleasing so many people before that I don't know just to get on their good side. Even ones who are really busy and don't even respond to me. I do this because I'm scared what they'll think if I don't watch a show they love or something.

Admittedly, I wish kids today knew what Hey Arnold was

I find it unfortunate that kids nowadays don't know it. It's a show about empathy and doing the right thing for others. I admit I like how this show actually went into heavy issues and took them seriously. Hey Arnold had great role models as well.

Shows like Hey Arnold, Wild Thornberrys, Recess, Lilo and Stitch: The Series, Proud Family, Kim Possible, Rocket Power, As Told By Ginger and Rugrats need to be passed down from kid generation to kid generation. They have emotional intelligence and aren't just a bunch of cartoony stuff for a half hour.

Can we talk about Tokyo Mew Mew please? I want to hear others opinions on it.

I am obsessed with that series so much and I would love to talk about it. It's my favorite show of all time, my favorite manga of all time and it just makes me feel all cozy inside.

I love how it's about environmentalism and helping animals and the ecosystem. It's also a mental health show for me.

Would you recommend Yu Yu Hakusho to a preschooler?

While it's a show with a lot of depth for older audiences, I'd say Yu Yu Hakusho is one a preschool kid could watch. What about you?

What ways can Doug, Recess, Pepper Ann and Hey Arnold be considered comedies?

Doug, Recess, Pepper Ann and Hey Arnold actually deal with emotional intelligence. Comedy shows are usually shows not meant to be taken seriously or social commentary. Yet, they get labeled as comedies.

What exactly makes them comedies? What makes Clarissa Explains It All a comedy? That show also dealt with emotional intelligence. Same with Pete and Pete, a show that was very surreal, but also very real at the same time with its emotions. To me, a comedy is something like CatDog or Ren and Stimpy or SpongeBob or Rocko or Angry Beavers or Timon and Pumbaa.

Is it okay if I prefer Arthur and Dragon Tales over all the Cartoon Network shows?

Arthur and Dragon Tales while they aimed younger, they had a lot more emotional intelligence than the Cartoon Network shows. The Cartoon Network shows felt like junk food. They were sensory overload. They're still good shows, I'm just saying they were junk food. Dragon Tales was literally created to help preschoolers dealing with emotions.

Batman: The Animated Series while I personally am not a fan of it since it bores me, I like thinking about it more than Cartoon Network shows. That show had a lot more emotional intelligence than Dexters Lab or even Courage which often was just mindless entertainment. I get Courage was very wholesome with the bond between Courage and Muriel and could be emotional, but a lot of it was just traumatizing stuff and zaniness. It makes me wonder why one would prefer to watch Dexter and Courage over Batman: The Animated Series when Batman actually went into emotional territory a lot more often. I can understand Courage a bit since it's a horror show, but even then, Are You Afraid of the Dark was around the same time and I think that show focused more on telling a story.

I also find shows like Ren and Stimpy and CatDog to just be junk food admittedly. I don't really like watching stuff that's just mindless stuff.

I love Rolie Polie Olie. You better not bully me for this!

If you bully me, that will make me really upset. I admit I'm being harsh, but only because I want to stand up for myself.

u/CatGirlNya2000 — 1 day ago

I tend to have breakdowns and get upset as to who I am.

and this might sound silly, but it's that because I can't handle violence in media for the most part (I say most part because I can handle Tokyo Mew Mew very well and that has some violence) or anything too weird or out there and when it comes to shows, I usually can only fully understand shows aimed at preschoolers, with some exceptions like Tokyo Mew Mew, it's made it so that I end up curling up into a ball and feeling weak.

Part of why I love Tokyo Mew Mew is even because Ichigo is strong without being violent when she finishes the monster off. She purifies them and the monster reverts back to being an animal. I know it was meant to show that one can be feminine and strong at the same time but I also see it as one can be non-violent and strong at the same time.

I often compare myself to others because I see so many people online be able to handle shows I can't handle and it makes me jealous and even upset at myself. I'm not joking when I say it's usually just preschool shows I can understand fully and follow along.

I've been trying to cope with this the best I can with this quote that Ichigo Momomiya or Mew Ichigo from the Tokyo Mew Mew reboot/remake said in episode 2 "You know who you should care about most of all? Yourself" and that's true, I should learn to love myself more and take care of myself more. When it comes to TV shows, typically preschool shows like Blue's Clues and Bear in the Big Blue House are the most healing for me and keep me calm and focused.

I've been watching Hamtaro lately and it's probably my favorite show Cartoon Network ever aired.

u/CatGirlNya2000 — 3 days ago

Is it just me or is this and Tokyo Mew Mew the only two shojos that have gotten anime remakes/reboots and were never made for the Internet specifically?

Sailor Moon also got one, but the first two seasons were only on the Internet. They reran on TV, but were web exclusives to start out.
