Saw this listing on Facebook marketplace and figured it’d be a cheap way to get into night vision, however it appears the scope may have issues and would appreciate any insight on to what the repair process would be and how expensive it would be. The seller said that when flipping the switch it doesn’t seem to do anything(told him to test it in a dark room or at night but I don’t think he did 🤦‍♂️) won’t be too mean to him as it seems he’s making a good effort to test it out and get it working. I posted a few days ago and thanks to some helpful insight from others on this sub, even if the scope itself doesn’t work the lens could still be turned around and sold for a profit since photographers seem to have a demand for it.

Saw this on Facebook marketplace and might jump on it considering the price. From a cursory look online, the Cyclops 10 apparently has pretty good vision although no magnification which isn’t a big deal for me. Don’t have much knowledge on night vision other than the fact that it’s generally pretty expensive and most cheap options are scams in some way

Bought this cast iron fruit press on Facebook market place for $25 so I can make homemade apple juice, wine, and potentially mead ingredients. The press plate is broken as you can see in the picture, but I figured it wouldn’t be too hard to replace. The first idea that I have is to use an old cast iron pan that I have by cutting out the bottom of it and attaching it(I’m assuming weld or bolted through a hole but need to inspect further) to where the broken plate is at. Since I know cast iron can be a little tricky to cut effectively with conventional tools, my plan was to use the CNC laser cutter at my work since I can get a good discount for the labor. My other option is to buy cast iron through my work and have it cut in the laser as well.

Would using a cast iron pan bottom work as a press plate or would it not be able to handle it? would need to get measurements before fully committing to idea of course, but just brainstorming solutions at the moment and welcome to any other ideas if someone has any. The diameter of the chamber is approximately 8 inches, and I would have to research on what the diameter of the press plate needs to be to fit in properly

Smoking some cured pork belles tomorrow for bacon and didn’t realize until tonight that my smokers temperature gauge only goes down to 150F. The recipe I’m following says to smoke at 150F so technically it can be useful to a very small extent. I Basically have 3 options to work with since I live in a small town. Should I…

1. Use a wired meat thermometer to read the smoker temperature? Would be ideal since I wouldn’t have to spend money on a smoker upgrade.

2. By the deep fryer thermometer that I can pick up at my local Walmart tomorrow. It is the one in the attached picture.

3. Wing it and used the thermometer that I have and make sure the needle barely moves past 150.

About to drop $600ish on cross bars(rails came with my car) and a kayak holder. My main question is do I have the right idea on what I need to get, and which kayak holder should I get out of the options i found. The leaves on my cantaloupe have had these spots pop up within the last week and I at first assumed them to be sunburn spots from watering too late in the day. Since I had changed up my watering practices to alleviate this issue, the spots still persist so I went ahead and cut off the leaves that had the spots. Was this a bad move? Google AI said that these are normal to have on cantaloupe leaves but I wasn’t sure since the issue had gotten worse and spread to other leaves. Any insight is appreciated, my posts on other garden/plant subs went unanswered so anything knowledge from those who also grow cantaloupe is welcome.

My leaves have had this for about a week now. Originally I thought the spots happened due to me watering during the midday and burning the leaves. However it seems like the pro has gotten worse and spread to other leaves. It gets about 8 hours of direct sunlight outside a day if it’s sunny. Any info on what is happening is appreciated.

2 days ago I noticed only one of my melon plants looks like this after getting a solid start with growing. Been watering it extra since I noticed it due to me thinking it had to be a lack of water causing this wilting. After 2 days of intense watering it’s still like this. Any thoughts as to why? I looked for anything indicating a vine borer but couldn’t find evidence of that being the problem

Google ai said that the first is part of the nightshade family and the second is golden rod but I don’t trust it too much since it said some of my basil was walnut saplings.

Saw this little fella while mowing and got close to hitting it. I was able to get it to move to a safe area while I finish mowing.
