Lenovo yoga c740 screen flicker, what else can I try

Hi. I woke up to my PC doing this. Flicker, everything is doubled with an offset, but there are no artifacts - the white line is the start panel separator. Touchscreen works fine, and everything is ok when using the external monitor. I opened it, cleaned and reconnected the screen connector, but it made no difference.

Is there anything else I should try before buying a whole new LCD assembly?

Thanks!

Engine-frame bolt stuck

Hi. I had frame sliders on, and yesterday suffered a light lowside on the right one which got damaged, so I decided to take them both out. The 2 right side bolts went smoothly and so did the rear left one, but the front left one got stuck about halfway. The damn thing won't budge, I broke the tool even after applying wd40. What do I do? Should I wedge something underneath the engine to jack it up a little bit? Everything was originally torqued to spec and no thread lock was involved, so idk what's up.

ATH-M30X: still best bang for the buck in a casual studio?

Hi folks. I'm a very casual electric guitar player who decided to mess around with a little recording. I have Behringer UMC204HD coming in, and I'll need a studio headset but I'm on a tight budget...say, definitely under €100 (EU).

Should I pull the trigger on a set of ATH-M30X? I've heard great stuff for the price, but I don't know if there are better alternatives in 2026.

Thanks!

Budget headset advice - UMC204HD

Hi. I was about to pull the trigger on a pair of Superlux HD681 (€30), but stopped wondering what I could get for a little bit more money. Please don't suggest €100+ headsets, I cannot afford that.

Use case: paired with a UMC204HD for very recreative, very casual, very non-serious, very i'm-4-beers-in-on-a-tuesday-evening electric guitar messing around.

Thank you

Audio interface for my use case

Hi folks. I'm an occasional saxophonist who bought his first electric guitar. For work reasons, I also own a very powerful workstation, so I thought it would be nice to mess around with some recording. I have literally zero experience with audio interfaces.

Request wise I don't really have much, I don't even own mic and wired headphones at the moment. I'd like something that allowed me to connect a microphone and guitar at the same time, any more input probably be a waste of money - I don't see myself playing acoustic while singing anytime soon. It's more likely I'd use the mic to record some video voiceovers unrelated to music. Aside from this, I don't even know what I might or might not need/want.

Budget: the lower the better, I'm quite short at the moment. Nevertheless, I'm not looking for a toy but for something that lasts and can give me satisfaction in the short-medium term, I would rather wait a little to save some cash than buy a potato tomorrow.

My research brought me to Focusrite solos (which I'm led to believe are some kind of go-to standard), and some guys suggested [this combo](https://www.thomann.it/m\_audio\_m\_track\_duo\_hd\_producer\_pack.htm), but I have no idea if it's actually worth anything...seems a little cheap for an interface+mic+headset.

EDIT: I only work on Linux based platforms, should that be pertinent.

Any advice is appreciated. Thank you!

Help me help my girlfriend?

Hi folks. I finally won the battle and she's going to decommission that potato of an iphone 8.

Her routine is very vanilla. 90% is messaging and browsing - she barely has social media - with the remaining being mainstream apps and the very occasional pdf download.

She loved apple hardware because taking pictures "just works", meaning you can get a great result pretty effortlessly, without the picture appearing too "fake".

Me myself, I couldn't care less about pictures - I'm a very different kind of nerd (rocking a nothing 2a atm), and I'm supposed to present her at least a couple options tomorrow. What can I bring to the table?

Budget: as low as possible. Mind, this doesn't mean she can't spend any money - if it wasn't for me, she'd be bending over for a 1k+€ iphone because she doesn't know any better. But, given her use case, anything over a midrange would be wasted money. Let's say, just to give you folks a number, €500? (EU)

EDIT: bonus points for long lasting stuff. 5 years worth of updates, maybe a little hardware headroom...you know the drill.

Thank you!

Hi folks, looking for recommendations as per title. Hope I'm not too off topic; r/PCSound looks dead.

My audiophile activity unravels in another listening space, I just want to make sure I can accompany my new smart-working daily workflow with a better output than the 2004 €10 potato I am currently running. Quality over power all day long, neighbors hate me already.

MOBO: Asus TUF X870 Plus, with Realtek ALC1220/1220P class codec

Budget: as low as possible (you don't say?), definitely €150 max.

A few quick google hits brought me to Mackie CR3.5 and Presonus Eris 3.5 2nd Gen, but I would love to hear some advice and experiences.

Thank you!

Hi. I'm pairing a GPU to a Ryzen 9 9950x.

What's the current state of Rocm and general integration of the AMD gpu ecosystem? CUDA is nice, but I'm not sure I'd like to spend 30% more - altough justified by performance.

Hi, I need to get a new PC and I found two (used) possibilities, for now.

Use case: Linux-based workstation for mostly day-to-day productivity (3D CAD, mild 4k editing, engineering computation...) with occasional non-competitive gaming.

Only note: an Nvidia GPU would be nice because I sometimes like to mess with CUDA, but Radeon is not a deal breaker.

Build 1:

  • Case is unknown (I don't care though)
  • 5070 TI Inno3d
  • 2x16gb ddr5 6000mhz cl30
  • Ryzen 7 9800x3d
  • Patriot VP4300 Lite 1Tb
  • Seagate FireCuda 530r 1Tb
  • Thermaltake toughpower gt 850W
  • 360mm liquid cooling + seasonic magflow
  • Msi Pro B850
  • Boxes, Focusrite audio interface, Logitech Suerlight 2 mouse, mechanical keyboard, gskill dash -> stuff included, don't care but wouldn't throw away

What I'm not sure about here are the SSDs (and the PSU), which from my researches appear to be...pretty budget?

Build 2 (almost new):

  • Case BeQuiet 501
  • No GPU -> a 5070Ti would add to spending €200-250 than build 1
  • 2x16gb corsair dominator platinum 7200
  • Ryzen 9 9950x
  • Lexar NM790 1TB
  • 1500w CORSAIR HX1500i SHIFT
  • Cooler master 240 + high-performance fan (?)
  • ASUS TUF X870

It is pretty clear to me how build 1 is more gaming-prone and build 2 is (much) more productivity-inclined, which is what I prefer. The thing is that build 1 would be much more powerful than anything I own right now anyway, and I wouldn't even have to scavenge for a GPU.

So, I guess the question would be...what's the most balanced thing for my use case? Build 2 is probably overkill, which is nice, but I'm not sure how much overkill I'd like to trade for vastly worse gaming performances, if that's what would happen (which is still not clear to me)?

Any advice or opinion is much appreciated. Thanks!

I've been offered this PC from a friend at a good price, but it has no GPU. The use case is 70% workstation (coding, virtualization, light editing) and 30% non competitive gaming, usually 1080p and occasionally 1440p.

At the moment:

  • Ryzen 9 9950x
  • 32gb DDR5 (2 x 16 Dominator platinum 7200)
  • Lexar NM790 1TB SSD
  • ASUS TUF X870
  • 1500w CORSAIR HX1500i SHIFT
  • BeQuiet 501 case
  • Cooler master 240

What GPU should I be looking for, in the €600-800 range (EU)?

Thanks

Hi folks. My daily workflow has dramatically changed and I'll need to retire my laptop in the near future - what a great time to build a PC on a budget!

Budget: let's say, €1500-2000 absolute maximum.

Country: Italy / European Union.

Peripherals needed: none, I have everything. PC only.

Use case: I mostly do engineering stuff, with 3D CAD modeling and 4K video editing being the most CPU/GPU intensive tasks. The latter is pretty vanilla, mostly cuts/overlays and some veeery mild color grading/correction. I absolutely do not care about gaming.

Obviously, a little headroom would be nice, but I can see what's the situation with RAM and SSD prices. I don't necessarily expect 32gigs and 1TB.

What are my options for the most bang-for-the-buck, Linux-friendly machine I can build?

Thank you!

Hi. I'm having some issues with my QS/autoblipper, 2024 Aprilia RS660.

Everything's good in all the gears except when going 4-5 and 5-4. When upshifting, if I don't _really_ slam it in, I often hit neutral. When downshifting, the lever often gets stuck like I was holding the throttle open, but most of the time gets unstuck if I move the gas into negative position - forward rotation, where you'd cancel cruise control. Clutch shifting is fine in both situations.

Before I went looking for troubles in the gearbox, I was wondering if it could be an issue related to the loadcell, although I'm not sure there's a different calibration force depending on the gear you're in? Any advice?

Thank you.

Hi folks, I'm building a telemetry system for my motorcycle.

I'll use the 12V line for power, and would like to:

  1. dump readings to a SD card
  2. use wireless to power a dashboard (that's why I went with the S3)
  3. connect a GNSS module to combine with IMU can readings for positioning.

I was about to pull the trigger on this guy, which seems to be suitable for the job: 7-36V PSU, lots of free GPIOs (14 are way more than enough, right?) industrial grade casing which seems nice for automotive...

Would there be any upside with going full DIY and modular, in my use case? I understand it's a pretty generic question, but there are probably unforeseen consequences to this choice that I'm too noob to think on my own.

Thank you.

Hi, bought a used DJI action 5 pro and it came with a box of thingies, but these don't seem to attach to to anything else I've been sent. What's the deal with them?

u/ChemicalDiligent8684 — 18 days ago

Hi, I'm looking for feedback from people who polished the floor of their home garage. My place is 25yo, quite humid and stained, so I was wondering if I should renew the floor.

I'm mostly concerned about maintaining (is it easier or harder to clean in the long run?) and slipperiness - I work a lot on motorcycles and cars, what happens with fluids?

Thanks!

I got offered a used DJI action 5 pro (apparently good as new) with ~1 year of carefresh for accidental damage and what's included in the picture for €275. I'm interested in recording my motorcycle trips and occasional track day
