Port Fwd on Belkin Router

Belkin N300

Setting up Port Forwards so my security cam monitor software at home can access the cams at my business.

This is the precise setup as on the present router, an ancient M$ MN-700. I don't really need high speed so the obsolete router hasn't bothered me but in case I ever do, with the Belkin now surplus I figured I'd use it to replace the MN-700. Not that the Belkin is that great but certainly faster than the present router.

I'm trying to get it pre set up so I'll I need to do is plug it in and swap cables.

What am I doing that Belkin doesn't like?

Blocked Connection Still Going

Just got fiber a week ago and I was using Smart Home Manager to see what was connected. Some names were not recognized so I'm shutting them off and also looking up MAC addresses.

I had my old router plugged to the Fiber Box but as I see no further need I've removed it. Anything connected to its WiFi needs to now connect directly to the Fiber Box WiFi.

I have a WiFi access point by TP-Link in my attic. It's connected by ethernet which is now connected to the Fiber Box.

I noticed a Roku whose address I've not touched running just fine. Checked the settings and confirmed it's connected via one of the TP-Link WiFi points.

But when I told the Fiber Box to block TP-Link, it kept playing. Longer than can be accounted for by the cache. Just to be sure I pulled the TP-Link's ethernet cable from the Fiber Box and the Roku stopped playing and displayed an error message within a few seconds.

What good is "blocking" if it doesn't block? Blocking doesn't block wired connections? Maybe they should warn users that it can't be blocked - go pull the plug!

Lawn Boy Sens-a-Speed

Model 10685

The plastic lever at the top of the handle that operates the Sens-a-Speed control cable broke. I can order the part but I should have taken more photos before disassembling because now I'm not sure how it goes back together.

I believe it pivots off the bolt and lock nut while the slotted opening goes over the pin that holds most of the rest. But it's not quite right. Does anyone else have this and could shoot a few detailed closeups? TIA

Risks of Zelle?

I've sent money via Zelle many times but only to known persons. When I look into risks it's always about being scammed by sending money to buy something and the buyer never receives the promised item.

But is there any risk to the Zelle receiver? The other party can't reverse the transaction ten fold to empty your bank account or anything crazy like that, right?

I have this nearly worthless piece of crap which I would be inclined to pitch but it occurred to me someone might like it so I propose to post it and say if anyone wants it Zelle me five bucks and I'll put it in an envelope and mail it to you.

But not if there is even a small risk. I don't think there is but it doesn't hurt to ask.

National Military Cemeteries

Today I attended a funeral then a "graveside " service at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery near Chicago. The latter was held at one of several open pavilions they have, not actually graveside.

Dad, followed by Mom, are buried at Arlington so I'm not totally unfamiliar with these places.

After the service I sought out the grave of my friend's father who passed a year ago. I was surprised how close the rows were together. About 4-5 ft. Then I walked to the edge of that section with the more recent graves. The patches of turf where the ground had been opened seemed like 3'x3'. Does this indicate vertical burial?

Apple Devices install fail

Two of my three machines running W10 64 bit pro do this. Should I try to find an old iTunes instead? All I want to do is to do a periodic backup. I much prefer aftermarket software - if it's free - but as I recall one must install Apple software first to allow the aftermarket software to talk to the phone.

Quick question: What are these offshoots of the air intake (yellow areas)?

Ready to Pitch It

We keep an older Echo Dot in the spare bedroom. It was fine but yesterday it was offline. Coincidentally another model in another room went offline for some reason in the wee hours saying it could not reach the internet. Internet was up so I had to update the seldom-used app and reset then all was fine.

I thought this was more of the same but it's not. On this one even a full reset isn't getting it going. I go through all the steps until it says it's ready with a blue bottom which instantly changes to red and it's back offline. Repeatable. Just 8 ft from the wifi router. I have other wifi points on the LAN and those are no better.

FWIW Wake Word Ziggy is no longer available.

I just have this nagging suspicion that "they" did something that bricked it. Especially since the other needed resetting in the same time frame.

It shows up in the app as Echo Dot-CQL.
