Genuinely don’t understand all of the hate for this game. It’s one of my favorite games ever.

I found Starsand island a few months ago for free on Gamepass. So I have been playing on Xbox, and from the start I have absolutely loved this game.

The quest lines are really interesting (breeding colorful sheep?! I love it), the world is absolutely gorgeous, the building is a lot of fun (roofs are tricky but otherwise it’s not bad), the NPCs are adorable, the "questing" in the caves is great, the crafting system is really intricate. The freedom to farm and build anywhere you want is amazing. The days fly by in Starsand Island for me.

I have played over 3000+ hours of animal crossing new horizons, stardew valley, sims, etc etc. In addition to tons of other RP games (baldurs gate) I’m a cozy game girl. So I have plenty of games to compare this to and I have nothing but love for this game.

Imagine my shock when I joined the subreddit, thinking I’d see fun discussions or home builds and it’s actually just non stop complaining!

I will say, I really don’t care about dating NPCs or the romance aspect of any game, ever. So maybe that’s really a big issue for some people? Idk. Yes sometimes building gets a little laggy but I’ve generally had no issues besides that and it’s as simple as closing it out and reloading. But anyway- if you love this game, what do you love most about it?!What have you built that you’re proud of?

Edit - laughing at all of the “Good for you’s” in these comments. Let people enjoy things and go find another post to complain on!

Anyone seen this post in regretful parents today about adding another sibling…

Just another example of why it’s a terrible idea to give in to peer pressure when it comes to adding another permanent member of your family. DON’T DO IT!

Didn’t know that bed wetting up until the teen years is common.

Among the many reasons not to have kids is the fact that bed wetting is apparently totally normal, hormonal, and doctors aren’t concerned about it until the child reaches teen years.

I’m sorry.. WHAT?! This is news to me. I genuinely had no clue. I read a post yesterday with hundreds of comments agreeing that this is typical, and solutions included keeping your kid in pull-ups till they stop, setting bed time pee alarms, etc.

I honestly have so much respect for parents because wow, the things that people have to deal with.. eeeeeeeekkkk. What are some other weird things you are so glad you never have to deal with?! (And not trying to be judgmental here I really just didn’t know this was a thing)

Consider having a one night bachelorette.

I know this might be hard to hear. I know you might have seen all of your friends do it and think - it’s my turn now!

But seriously, consider maybe just having a one night bachelorette. Of course most of your friends will probably try to make it work, bend over backwards for you, go into debt for you and that’s amazing but MAYBE, just maybe, consider opting out of the insanity that bachelorette trips have become.

Not only will this be significantly less stressful and less expensive for everyone involved, but I guarantee you will still have an amazing time even if you don’t have 4 straight days dedicated to celebrating you. I see countless post after post in here about how people are stressed about the cost, don’t have enough PTO but don’t want to disappoint their friends - and friendships are being ruined. And I’m telling you, lovingly, YOU CAN OPT OUT.

Bring back the one night classic bachelorette.

Adding - the only way I support these kinds of trips are under the following circumstances: A. Everyone already knows each other and is a somewhat tight knit group or at least has spent a lot of time together prior to the trip or B. Everyone has traveled together in some other capacity before OR C - importantly - everyone spending money on this trip has some kind of input on location, lodging, activities and budget is discussed OPENLY and transparently from the get go.

You might say - but my friends live so far away from each other! There’s no other option! In that case, you could think about having a bachelorette event the week that people will already be traveling and in town for your wedding.

Stop forcing people who don’t know each other to share rooms, split costs (esp. when they have 0 input in activities or lodging) for the sake of an instagrammable weekend. It’s absolutely crazy (obligatory - especially in this economy) and it seems like no one really wants to talk about how unreasonable the expectations for this have become.

Want to go to an amazing exotic destination? Or a cruise in the Bahamas where you’ll share a room so tight you can hear every bathroom noise? I have the best news for you - you have a HONEYMOON you can do that on.

A bachelorette is not supposed to be a dream vacation for the bride funded by all of her friends.

Lifehack - Getting a hotel room for one night as a mini vacation and productivity boost.

I’m in the midst of planning a small non-traditional wedding party and as exciting as it is, it’s sometimes really stressful and overwhelming. It feels like there’s always something I should be doing and when I’m at home I struggle to do things like make the calls I need to and prioritize (I work from home so that probably doesn’t help as I’m not the best with boundaries). I hate calling and will always just end up sending emails.

With that, I also have trouble relaxing and will often end up cleaning, organizing or doing chores around the house instead. I’m in the midst of several major decluttering projects (selling things, etc) so my office is a total mess. Or I’ll spend time sorting through the notes / to do lists on my phone (there are 379 of them right now). 🙃

This last weekend I went to visit a friend 2 hours away and I decided to get a hotel room for the night, nothing crazy just a middle range hotel with a nice pool. The only plans I have with my friend are dinner in the evening so I’ve had the whole day to myself (arrived around 11am).

I can’t put into words how refreshing it was to have several hours of time to relax and read a book at the pool by myself. The bees are quiet. After about 2 hours of that, I suddenly felt the motivation to do a bunch of things I’ve been putting off for WEEKS. Called a vendor back. Emailed back another one. Called back a doctor for an important appointment (as I missed their 3rd call to me). Made some real progress with prioritizing what I need to do. I love being home but a change of scenery and being in a space where there’s nothing to organize / clean is so motivating.

And I still have the whole evening to look forward to, which I’ll use to finally finish a book I’ve been enjoying, maybe watch some TV, and if I feel up for it, organize / delete some photos from my phone.

All that to say - for $120, it’s been SO nice and refreshing and I highly recommend a little break like this for those who can swing it. 😎

Anyone else confused because of how different they feel DAY to DAY?

I’ve seen some people say that being in different seasons of life helped them make the decision, but does anyone else feel so differently day to day and struggle with that? You can’t just opt out being a parent (obviously) and I know the whole “if it’s not a hell yes it’s a hell no” thing… but it’s so confusing.

For example a few weeks ago I hosted a party for a family member’s accomplishment and had this moment - when everyone was sitting at the table eating the food I prepared and I was over in the other room - of feeling SO good and fulfilled in that moment. I love taking care of others (most of the time).

Then this morning my dogs got into some stuff and I absolutely lost my patience with them, screaming and felt so frustrated and defeated, and then of course guilty, and I started thinking about how I don’t have enough patience to deal with all of the frustrations that come with kids. I know you can apologize to them after losing your temper, but it’s just better not to do it. I don’t want to traumatize anyone :(

All that to say I feel like I have moments that push me STRONGLY one way or the other and I’m still here stuck in the middle.

How did you get past fear of pregnancy?

For those with hypochondria, health anxiety, fear of hospitals, needles (or all of the above like me) etc - how did you get past the fear of pregnancy? I’ve been told I need to stop reading horror stories and about the bad things that can happen, but isn’t that what helps us be prepared? I’m trying not to be so negative since I know some people really love being pregnant but dear god I have no desire for that part of the experience.

If I knew without a doubt I could go into it with a smooth pregnancy I’d do it but the thought of a C-section is enough to make me never want to do it 😭 and this is despite knowing that all of the women in my family have had VERY easy labor and births (I’m talking 2-4 hours max for their first baby).
How do you get past the mental block?

Also adding - not interested in adoption or surrogacy (which are valid options) but really trying to understand how to get past the fear. I wish I had the desire for that part of the experience like some do

Accidental candy haul

World market has so many fun options. The milka cow spots is one of my faves!

Haven’t tried the sour jarritos, haribo pasta frutta and balla stix, or the turtle chips. Which should I try first?

Hi all! I am getting married in the South of France this summer and absolutely can’t make up my mind on railing flowers. We have rented the rooftop of a lovely chateau and will be getting married just the two of us. We have an amazing photographer and I paid for video too. The railing flowers are $400 euro (would be a total of $800 euro for my bouquet, table decor, and railing flowers) but I’m just not sure if I should do it.

The price isn’t as much of a concern as just wondering if the flowers are actually taking away from the scenery, or adding to it…. Right now I am leaning towards doing it but wondering what y’all think.

Also - the flowers would be more like greenery / orchids / purple / and some tropical type photos, not the super orange. Unless you guys think all white flowers are better?! I’m lost 😂
