How do you live slowly when your partner is the embodiment of fast-paced?

Genuine question. Please help me with your thoughts and ideas. I’m recovering from a burnout along with other health issues and have been on a break from work, socialising - everything basically.

I’m finally learning how good it feels to not move through my day like I can only rest when everything is done. My partner on the other hand is really fast-paced. Thoughts, actions, literally and figuratively. I find myself quickening when he’s around, or unable to calm down if we’re doing something together because he always thinks 10 steps ahead and I find myself unable to slow down.

He’s an excellent partner and supports my choices but as someone who’s always absorbed the energy of the room, I find it hard to unwire and slow down when he’s around.

What would be a realistic way to approach this situation?

Staring protein powder in a palatable form

I find protein powder non-palatable, especially chalky plant protein. Tried mixing a scoop into warm oat + chia + flax bowl today topped with banana and peanut butter. Tasted pretty good.
Finally some way to get that darn thing in.

Do I still have hope?

I do chin tucks and walk angels, sleep with a towel rolled under my neck but I don’t think there’s been any change. Been this way for 3 years now.

Anyone help? 🥹

EDIT - Referring to the neck hump

Waking up feeling terror, heart racing

The first 15 minutes of the day feel the worst. I feel terror in my body the second I wake up and my heart starts racing and I’m sweaty. My heart rate is in the 120-145 range.
Using the bathroom and brushing have started feeling like the scariest activities.
I have had POTS since 2022 but this is a new thing happening of late. No new stressors.

It starts happening before I can even have a thought and I struggle to calm down. Does anyone else experience anything like this or have tips on how to cope please?

Becoming too much of a loner

I was always a bit quiet but had a good group of friends who would involve me in social activities, in my 20s. Then everyone got married, moved to different cities, some had kids and eventually drifted apart other than once in a while calls or texts. I also stopped working in 2023 following a health issue, so no connection with the outside world through a job either. I also have health anxiety and generalised anxiety since this started.

I’ve become quite a loner. I find it hard to talk to friends about work/ kids/ traffic etc for more than a few mins because I don’t relate to those anymore. I find it hard to talk about my personal life as well because my health issue is rare and people usually don’t get it/ don’t know what to say.
I also feel like I was always the listener and now with my health issues, I don’t have the energy to be available for everyone’s problems.

All this put together, I’ve stopped going out, meeting acquaintances or putting time and effort into old friendships. I’m sadly enjoying the peace and quiet also but I feel somewhere that if this continues I’ll not fit into society at all anymore.

Has anyone gone through something similar/ have any thoughts on how to handle this phase?

No period for the first time in 20 years :(

No matter how much it hurt it would always show up on time every month. For the first time in my life, I didn’t get my period this month, just spotting. Not pregnant.
Have to schedule a gynec appointment to see what this means now. Feeling miserable about it though. Just needed to vent somewhere.

On time but scanty periods - luteal pain increasing over months

33F. My periods are almost always on time, but for the last one year I’ve been having increased ovulation pain (I used to have none before). I’m also extremely symptomatic a week before the period starts (which is also new). Nausea, lower left, hot flashes, abdominal pain and rectal pain.
I also bleed much much lesser than I used to. Max 2 days and 1 pad per day.

Ultrasound showed left ovary attached to pouch of Douglas. The GP said it was nothing but I don’t know if I should ask whether it could be endo given all my symptoms feel more than normal.

It’s not even raining properly but just makes the heat worse

Bro, the sky darkens in the evenings and it’s starts to drizzle and I’m thinking ok cool finally rain time. But it stops after drizzling and the heat somehow feels way more intense. What is this?

Karuppu doubt - why did he use his magic powers again?

I thought it was cool when RJB challenged Karuppu to see if he can win against the system without using his powers. And that, that was the point of the whole thing. They shook on it also but suddenly mid movie Karuppu starts using his magic again. 🤔

Didn’t that defeat the entire purpose? Like proving that without magic you can’t fix the system?

Home stays or airbnbs or small scale resorts with good wifi

Looking to stay and work during the week for a couple of weeks. Ooty/ Coonoor. Any home stays or Airbnbs tried and tested with good wifi for remote work? And preferably power backup?

Stayed at a lovely Airbnb last time but too much power cut issues and no backup made working impossible. Hence looking for tried and tested options.

Ex-web developer - 4 year health break - realistically what are my comeback options?

Front end web developer with 7 years of experience in large organisations and startups. I had to quit working in 2022 Oct due to health issues. Looking to come back to work but everything has changed from working to interviewing with AI.

I used to work in JS, React/Angular. I don’t even know if companies still use all that now. I don’t know how to prepare and what to expect in terms of working and interviewing. Please guide me on the same.

When I tried re-activating my job profiles, I got very few calls and most hung up after finding out about the break.

PS - Not in touch with any colleagues from previous organisations, and don’t have any friends in the same space. Hence looking to redditors to help me out pls!

Wwant to learn to calm autonomic nervous system

POTS getting better. I’ve circled two places above. The first one is my heart rate jumping from 70 to 137 mid sleep. Woke up sweating and with high heart rate. Lasted a couple of minutes.

The second circle is when I climbed a flight of stairs in mid day heat. Which also caused heart rate to go upto 140. This used to be much higher. So I feel the POTS is getting better.

I’d really like some help in understanding how I can help push recovery further. The fact that climbing stairs and mid sleep heart rate spikes are the same is confusing to me. I’m already on beta blockers. Looking to hear your thoughts on what I can do to curb these spikes mid sleep.

Furniture shop recommendations please

After using sofas from Flipkart/Amazon for the last 10 years, I want to buy one from a good furniture shop. The online sofas despite costing around 20k each, lasted only for 4/5 years. They started sagging badly after that.

Budget 20k. Didn’t find anything in IKEA and I’m not good at negotiating etc so don’t want to try at local shops. Any good brands here that I can try where you’ve had a good purchase?
